  1. It's small consolation, I know, but there will be an 'Echo of Galaxy' available through Ouroboros after i21 goes live, and the level restriction for Ouro will also be lowered to 14, so really the zone isn't going away it's just not going to be a normal place you can visit anymore without time travel.

I for one am hoping that the devs will give us some hand-wave explanation about scientists studying the temporal energies of Ouroboros and using that data to enable time travel via base teleporters so we can keep the Galaxy City beacons in our SG base to teleport us to Echo of Galaxy so it'll still be easily accessible. Either way, don't despair too much. I'm sure the truly hardcore RPers who love the place will still us the Echo, and when the game is done, or you're finished with it, you can still log out in Gemini Park for the last time.

Actually, Cerulean Legion was open to all powersets. Pre-customization they stuck to blue-colored powersets (roughly), if I remember correctly Martial Arts, PBs, Energy blasters and various other blue-tinted powers, and afterwards they would let you use whatever set you wanted as long as it was colored blue. Kind of like how the GL Corp each manifest the power a little differently based on personality, this just had a bit wider range. I've not seen anyone from Cerulean Legion in-game in a very long time though so I don't know if I just play at the wrong times or if they've died off or what. Either way, with power customization you could make a GL-style supergroup as diverse as wanted, so if there isn't one, it'd be very easy to at least get the ball rolling nowadays.
  3. I'm kinda with the majority on this, with the way death works in comics (Replaced with a clone/exact duplicate, resurrected, or coming back by some weird quirk of their powers with new spiffy abilities within two months of dying) it's just not going to have any kind of impact like one would think. Heck, even COH has done it. Statesman was killed and brought back, and so was Protean, though given, he died in the comics and came back in the game.

For those holding out hope for death in comics you might want to pick up Fables from the Vertigo imprint. Given, a HUGE amount of dead characters were resurrected by magical means, but due to plot reasons they can only stay alive while living in a certain small area, but the majority of them were side characters of little import anyway, save for two or three. However, there have been two very VERY prominent deaths and neither of the characters have come back, and it's been a while (two, two and a half years). They might even be lampshading it a bit based on the fact that there's a cult that's formed that believes one of said character is going to come back and save them all from certain destruction. He hasn't, and the way things are going it doesn't seem like he will. It's certainly a very good sign for a series to actually stick to their guns on a death.
  4. Congrats Z, you just made my sig.

Also props Arbie Fab, I needed a good laugh today.
  5. Power Effects:

I would love to see more "themes" for powers like Magma for Earth and Metal/Slate/Crystal for spines. One that should be stupidly easy would be to port the light theme that the Legacy Chain has for energy blast/melee to all energy blast/melee powers. It could be used for a light-based blast or just a general change of pace from the same old effect we've been seeing for seven years. Also, as much as devs have said a water set is not going to happen I have seen a Coralax use a water attack that was, as far as I can tell, some variant on power push/energy torrent with a different particle effect. It actually looked pretty good. We don't need ultra mode water for the set, rushing water in game tends to not look like ultra-mode stuff anyway (see any fountain in game ever). It could easily be done with energy blast to make it look like water, as was the original intent according to one of the devs before they decided to go with energy as it "looked better".

In general I'd like to see new themes for all power sets. The alternate animations are nice, but we could always do with some new particle effects to REALLY let us customize. We could have more of a freeze ray effect for ice blasts (ala Mr. Freeze) instead of chunks of ice, something angelic-looking for empathy (like a very soft glow with possible feather particle effects), a lava/magma-type effect for fire powers (Geysers of magma for holds/blasts, earth-style magma fists/weapons for the melee attacks), thinner-looking laser type effects for energy blast to make them look more sleek, or even a theme to turn the bullets from Dual Pistols/Assault Rifle into laser blasts. Those are the suggestions I'd like to see the most, if I could have a magma-spewing fire blaster I might actually play one.

    Aura effects:

I'd also like to put in a vote for the drip aura that someone mentioned before. Could use the same basic effect with different textures/glow effects to create a variety of effects with minimal work. Could have several different themes to make it look like either water, oil, magma, toxic ooze, or any number of other drippy things.

Personally I'd love to see an aura that looks like cracks in space-time/reality are sparking around you. Just quick little jagged crack-like effects that pop up in the air around you and then vanish.

And last but not least I'd love to see an improvement to auras to allow light/dark variants and moreso, two color choices. Our powers get two colors apiece and it can be difficult if not impossible to match an aura to our powers. I know it might be alot to ask there but I hope you guys will at least consider it.

Thanks for making the thread TR, we'll look forward to seeing more of you around!
  6. I had a blast, apparently for the fact that I kept saying stuff that the devs found amusing. Well, Z and War Witch got on me for reminding them of Chik-Fil-A. lol

Was also amused that my comment about a mastermind summoning clones of TheNet was met with "I do nobody's bidding!", and he even pronounced my name right. Haha. Thanks for sticking with us for so long guys, and I was glad to get to know some of the other community members I didn't really know much about.

    P.S. He's totally Arbiter Background.
  7. Gravity as time substitute? No, it's not, but I DO have a toon that's a Space/Time manipulator and Grav/Kin is perfect for that. You can seemingly suspend people in time, rip holes in the space-time continuum (with wormhole and propel), reverse or speed up time for your enemies or allies (with heals/debuffs) and on the whole you have a very satisfying concept. No, it's not specifically time control, but time/space just seems more fun to me anyway.

I'm kinda torn about wanting a time control set. On the one hand I'd love to try it out and it would probably be very fun, but on the other that would mean I'd have to re-roll Mr. Eternal who is level 50 to get the perfect concept for him. D: Oh well. As many times as it's been suggested I'm sure the devs have seen and noted it. There are tons of wanted powersets and they can only do so much at a time. If it's on the list it'll get here eventually, we just have to be patient.

Haha, exactly what I was planning on myself. I'll drop you a friend request next time I'm online, usually early morning or late night myself, but I'm always up for a little teaming.
  9. I'd love to join a group like this, but I'll need a bit of time to get my toon where I need him. I had a steampunk elec/elec blaster but I just couldn't work up the desire to finish him to 50, and when Elec control was released I knew I wanted to make him a Dominator, it just fit him so much better, but I didn't wanna have the whole "You're from Praetoria!" thing attatched to him for some of the content, so I rolled him red-side and I'm working towards 20 so I can move to blue-side. I'm guessing you guys aren't in risk of filling up too soon so I'm not too worried about it, but wanted to at least express interest.

Definitely gonna have to tweak his costume a bit when June 1st rolls around.

No it isn't. I frequently run full BAF's on my Ill/Emp with Phantom Army out, my Phantasm active AND my blue wisp vet pet floating around and I've not ONCE crashed out. And yes I'm talking about a league with tons of Lore pets as well. The only time I've ever even had an issue with the BAF was the day after it came out when a team fell victim to the infamous "You have quit your league" bug in the middle of the Siege fight.

Don't know why this notion seems to persist but I can tell you right off that every league I've been on has included at least two MMs who used their pets, we had a full league and I've never once had lag or a crash.

  12. Alrighty, that's definitely helpful. I hadn't thought about the "more recharge = fewer needed attacks" angle either. I suppose the only real reason to take extra would be if they have a desired effect. Frag/Venom Grenade are gonna be good to have obviously, and I suppose the rest are just gonna be taken as they're the only picks available at early stages. Cool. Plus with the abundance of defense powers available I shouldn't want for anything to slot LotG in, and if I do I can always just grab a superfluous power from stealth.

Awesome info, thanks much. If anyone else has any hints/tips or tricks I might not have thought of I'd love to hear them. I'm still new to VEAT territory and always looking to try out new things. Especially with the intro of the third build I could really make this toon versatile with a "mastermind" build, a Huntsman style build and even a pure Bane build.

Awesome, I had been led to believe that trying to perma the 3 pets was silly and would make for a gimped character. Did you have to go really out of your way to slot for every recharge bonus available/take extra powers just to slot recharge stuff in, or was it fairly easy to get enough recharge?

I thought it might be. I've never been great with the number cruncing aspect of some of the insanely awesome "Solo the ITF" builds, but just eyeballing the possibility of Mental Training + x5 LotG + Spiritual Alpha boost seemed like it would almost be MORE than enough recharge, though I don't know it will be. Really just seeing if some expert build cruncher will weigh in and let me know if it's gonna be that easy or if I'm gonna need a couple more boosts to get there. Oh, and of course I'll be taking hasten as well and putting it on auto so there's that too.
  15. I know, blasphemy! Anyway, I rolled up a crab-soldier so that I could eventually make him into something of an Arachnos-themed mastermind. I know it won't be perfect, but as a way to just have fun and enjoy a silly concept character I'm interested to know what you all think is possible.

The one thing I'm most concerned about is whether it's doable to get the three pets available perma, or at least nearly perma. I plan to go Mace Mastery for the third spider-bot pet and to fill out the mastermind set so to speak. I'd like to have a decent amount of attacks available to me as well, might drop the crab versions of powers for the Soldier versions due to faster attack speeds, or I might go with the crab versions for concept, would that affect anything beyond attack speed really? If I need to sacrifice some attacks for something that could slot a recharge set or something I'm willing to make that sacrifice, but I'd want at least three basic attacks.

I'm obviously planning to slot spiritual alpha boost for the big recharge boost, and I'm thinking I'll slot a LotG 7.5 recharge into any power that'll take it, up to the five boost limit. The question is, will that be ENOUGH recharge stacked with the boost from Mental Training to get the pets to perma, or will I need to look for sets that give big recharge boosts and take powers I might not necessarily need to slot them?

Don't have a solid build yet beyond the fact that the three pets will be taken and mace mastery will be my patron pool. Also I tend to prefer ranged damage so unless there's a really good bonus to be had that can only be slotted to a melee attack I'd prefer range.

So, lay it on me experts, do you think this is (semi-) doable? And if so what do you think I'll need to do to make it a reality? Willing to take mule powers if needed so anything goes really.

XD Glad I'm not the only one. Glorious show that.

The entire discussion just reminds me of a British friend of mine telling us a story about when she was young and naive and visiting the US for the first time and people kept giving her strange looks for talking about rubbers (erasers) and a particular F word that we take as derogatory but they take as cigarette. Was quite an amusing thought.

Even if so, you'd still have to find a way to communicate with players who only speak the "native" language of that particular server. I mean, I can glean basic info and ideas from French just because I took a couple of classes in high school and had kind of a knack for it, but I couldn't get details or really understand what they're saying. German is right out the door.

Unless they plan on introducing some kind of insta-translator program (which would fail horribly and probably result in more humorous community in-jokes than it would useful communication) then it would be sort of a moot point unless you plan to bring along a bunch of english speaking pals or a translator.

Either way, I'm looking forward to poking around on the EU servers and seeing what the community is like there. Always fun. Might even see if I can get one of my buddies who used to play EU to start up an account again.
  20. As soon as I saw the news I went straight to twitter to check on a friend who lives in Japan, thankfully he had updated, said he was fine. A little shaken (no pun intended) but no damage beyond some rumblings where he's at. His wife was a little closer to the trouble but was okay as well thankfully. I'm still trying to track down another friend and praying she's okay. As silly as it sounds, thanks everyone for the prayers and donations and everything. Those of us with loved ones over there really appreciate it too.
  21. Gonna echo the sentiment. You make a Melissa wall graphic and I'll shell out for it. Not even kidding.
  22. Empathy is one of those sets that can go either way. You could write it off as magic, play it with the psi spin, heck, you could explain it away as a nano-machine swarm that your tech hero uses to mend allies wounds.

One particularly fun way I've played it is to make an Emp/Dark defender, and tint the empathy the lightest shade of yellow and second lightest of gold, and explained it away that they used light and dark magic, light to heal and bolster their allies, and darkness to attack their enemies. Plays rather well too.

Teat doors, not trick. No mobs.
  24. And now that I have more time to reply I'm gonna drop an itemized list myself, and stress the fact ANYTHING CONVERTED SHOULD BE MADE UNISEX EVEN IF IT REQUIRES MODIFICATION

    1. Hellions/Skulls masks and jackets

    2. Carnival masks and possibly the corset with optional shoulder detail for the collar. I can understand the corset being made female only, but would REALLY appreciate a male version of the mask even if it requires new art.

    3. Sybil dresses because we need a roman costume option for characters that wouldn't wear armor and look bad in a toga. Sister Solaris is the signature version, the generic one should be available to players.

    4. Nurse hats for medic toons.

    5. AE Restoration Tech pattern for the racer jacket, also for medic toons.

    6. Ghost aura for toons that want a more etheral touch.

    7. PPD Hardsuit pieces from all variants including the ACTUAL hardsuit pieces as well as the shell pieces.

    8. Kheldian sash or at least something close to it, it would take five minutes to port and it's been requested since it appeared in game. It's time.
