  1. I can't read the Original Post from work, so I'll just add my "Kudos on a job well done" and add in "Hope everything works out for you".

Oh, and Thanks for the Fun Application. It's helped many people, and maintaining it must have been a selfless, thankless job.. But that's what Heros do, right? :-)
  2. I've been playing my Inv/SS Tiny since day -3, and have never really stopped. He's pretty strapped with HO's and IO's though, so I might be a bit spoiled.

Recently though, I like my Ice/Ice Winter Comet almost as much .. there's so much more to do, it seems. Plus, with the damage spikes you get from a defensive set, you spend more time 'On the Edge', so to speak.

wait, so then why the "eww... lightning clap... i want smash" comment?

    [/ QUOTE ]

For the same reason I don't like Handclap in Super Strength - it doesn't do ANY damage. It might be cool to look at, but it's not particularly useful to me, when I can use a damaging attack instead.

    AKA - "Personal Preference".
  4. Heh .. The only Purple Drops I've ever gotten were 2 Disorient ones and a Sleep.

How in the world could logging out to char screen be a security hazard?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Kid sibling/irritated significant other/drunk friend catches it and deletes all your 50s.

I've heard a story that some Beta Tester's girlfriend did exactly this during the CoH Beta and that's why the policy is in place.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I heard that story, but they had a hook for a Foot.
  6. I didn't pick Electric because it was the 'best' SMASH set. I liked the Early AOE's primarily. I play on a set team of 7-8 players, and there are two other Brutes, so I really need to work it if I want some of that sweet sweet Fury.

The lack of a self heal was a weakness, but I decided to just keep working on maxxing HP's and Regen asap, and I slotted 3 Call of the Sandman Chance for +heal procs just for the added bonus HP's now and then. So far it's working well.
  7. They let something slip in a recent Cat Fancy Interview (Don't ask why I was reading it). You heard it here first:

    Kitten Mastery

    w/Summon Kittens (Targetted Aoe, Adorable)
    Hairball Choke (single Target Hold)
    Purr Attack (Cone Mez)
    Tail Entangle (AoE Immob)
    and Summon Catgirl (Pet, Adorable)

Inherent Adorable Attacks cause mob to Aggro towards them, but inherently pacify so they cannot attck until they are attacked.

They also mentioned a Puppie Power set and a Battlin' Monkies set, all due for I think Issue 17.

You make a valid point with the brute/stalker example and you are correct that simply buffing tanker damage is not the answer. Something needs to be done to make tankers and scrappers as divergent in play style as brutes and scrappers. Vox Populi had a good suggestion. I think taking that a step further and applying the increased debuff/control to any mobs affected by gauntlet would be a step in the right direction. While not increasing damage (accept maybe in the case of Fire Melee’s DoT) it would move tankers toward more of a group fighter role. Which, IMO, is where they should have been all along.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now that's interesting, and easily doable to boot. All you'd need to do for that is apply a status resistance debuff to the target, thus making controls last longer. It does gives some sets more perks than others, though.

For example, compare Axe and Mace. Very similar sets, except all of Axe's attacks have a chance for knockdown while Mace is a mix of knockdown/stun. Knockdown wouldn't be effected by the status resistance debuff (it would cause knockback which has just been removed in most cases) and the stuns would. Mace would be able to benefit while Axe would be left in the cold. Now I'm imagining giving that to Stone Melee... (Fault anyone?)

Still, it's something to think about. (Finally, a fresh idea!)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Isn't the main thrust of that suggestion that it makes Tanks more appealing on Teams, not just that it helps their own individual powers?

The fact that it helps Mace a bit more is nothing compared to the fact that it helps any Controller they are teamed with, right?

I like the idea though .. it's a lot more "Thinking out of the Box" than J_B's idea.
  9. A Healer Thread? It must be Tuesday. Hey! It is!

quote]My Rad's heal is Vengeance. I even got the first Healing badge with it

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uhm...letting your team mates die when it could have possibly been avoided by a heal is generally a bad thing, FYI.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Have you ever Seen or Used Vengeance? I have been on teams willing to rotate who GETS to die, just so we can hit Vengeance, Falluout, and Rez and then wipe the floor with the next few groups.

    :-)
  10. If you can slot it, then yes, it will affect your opponents, and have a chance to damage them every now and then. It's not really a noticeable amount (I have it slotted in Invincibility), but it's fun to see it go off now and then.

Hey, i found someone that could help me invite all my 18 chars! People on Virtue are so nice

I gave the player 20 millions for the help. I figured it was no big deal at all since he saved me 20 real bucks haha

In the end, it was easyer than i thought to find someone willing to help.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've found that, in general, you can usually find someone nice like that.

The real buttheads stick out more, but the generally nice people really do outnumber them.
  12. Heh. You do have a point.

    It's still awesome though.
  13. Eww. Lightning Clap. Get it away from me.

I Want Smash. Thunder Strike is Pure, Unadulterated ...

thanks , i made my character. and yeah by level 25 my scrapper was getting hit by a lot of psionic type attacks and will get me stunned/asleep/immobilized for long periods of time they were always a pain in the butt

    [/ QUOTE ]

That means that you either skipped or didn't have on one of your Scrapper's key powers. In general, Scrappers and Tanks are who you play if you want to avoid being Held/Stunned/Immobilized.

You are going to find that your Brute plays a lot like a Scrapper, in many ways. Not all, surely, but Many.
  15. I'm currently playing a Elec/WP Brute, and having a great time with it, up to level 25 - usually playing on a team of 7-8.

Sure, every now and then something beats my Regen, but I'm not usually the first to fall, not the most frequest, and often one of the last standing, if not the last.

It was very tough up until lvl 16 or 18, then started to pick up, and I could handle more.

Quic Recov + Stamina is a BIG plus, and even better if you have 2 Perf Shifter +End Procs ;-)

I don't even consider the End Drain effects of Electric. Anything I might get is a Bonus, but I completely ignore slotting for it.

People will say this next part is 'Odd' and 'Wont work', but I have three Call of the Sandman: Chance for self heal in my attacks (Jacob's ladder, Havoc Punch, and the other fst punch). Since I have no Self heal, and my Corruptor teammates can be Flaky, it's nice to see that Little Green number pop up now and then.
  16. Yeah .. I realized it wouldn't fit while I was typing, but I didn't want to erase it .. because I really Do Wish that could be added. ;-)

    Good luck on your Project.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
I know I regularly drop the Chance for +END from one of the END Mod sets into Stamina. I think it rolls it's chance every 10 seconds, so at 20% chance, that's a small END boost every 50 seconds, on average. When I watch the Combat tab, I see it firing about that often.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My Willpower Brute has 2 of them. Good times. ;-)
  18. [ QUOTE ]
So, slotting 4 damage procs(Posi, one of the KB set chance for smashing, and the accurate defbuff damage proc and the def debuff damage proc) in say Electron Haze for my Corr would be a good idea? Or just 3 procs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I love Procs as additions to powers after I have the slotting effects that I want. A '% Chance for damage' proc works best, to me, in a power that normally does no (or very little) damage.

They can be fun, but not enough to warrant hurting your normal slotting. If you can squeeze some in after taking care of the powers other needs, then go for it, but don't purely slot Procs instead of other enhancements.

I have the Chance for Psi damage in my Invincibilty (yes, it still works, though not sure I could reslot it if I respecced) and also in Taunt. Gee, it's FUN killing a wounded minion with Taunt.

I have a few in my Ice Tanks Toggles also, since I had the room.

If at all possible, work with someone who can copy to Test, respec, and let you play with some of them there.
  19. It can be tough sometimes. I still have a Regenerative Tissue +Regen enhancement that I'm hoping sells. Unfortunately it appears there are several people all selling the same level Enhancement. 6 bidders, 4 sellers, and they just sit there. I thought it would sell quickly, since two of the last 5 sales were for 60 mill and 80 mill.

Live and learn. If it doesn't sell in a few levels, I'll just slot the dang thing. ;-)
  20. Seems like it the people that you want to use it on or the fact that you don't get to use it enough that annoy you more than the power itself - which to me means that you actualyl DO like the power. :-)

Just be sure they know about it several times .. and don't always wait to use it for everyone to be around .. get a few of them with it, let them see how good it is, then they'll encourage the others to use it too.

I wish it would go off automatically if you died, but .. that would be abused ;-)
  21. I'm currently playing a Elc/WP Brute, on my dedicated team on Monday nights.

Early levels felt weak, but then that has always been my problem with any Brute I've played. Being on a dedicated team helped me stick it out, and made the stay at those levels REALLY Brief.

After hitting level 20-22, it really felt like I was starting to dish it out and take it too. Currently level 26, and I really feel like a solid Brute, dishing out damage and taking it too.

I had End issues util I got Quick Recovery. THen I put a Performance Shifter +End into it, along with another 1-2 slots, and all was right again. I Added Stamina too, out of habit. Nothing will slow down my SMASH now.

Look into I/O sets, they really can help you, and all those little bonuses really add up.
  22. On a side note, if I could REALLY add something to it, I'd add Help -> Binds, and have it pop up something interactive to help you make them.

    The same for Macros.

Binds and Macros are fantastic, and can really add a lot of fun to the game. But the fact that people basically have to come to the Forum and research them really means that the majority of people won't use them at all.

Aren't there already "Bind Makers" out there? Could something like that be implemented in your project? Or would that be to large of a project?

(I can't hit COH Titan from work, so I can't even look at what you are working on).
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I have to add a mention here for Fallout from the radiation set. I admit that is can be very useful in the right situation but I dislike the idea of a power that I can only use when an ally dies.

Hm, this could be the perfect choice for playing with those people who don't know what their doing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You dislike it -ok. But what exactly qualifies it as "Annoying"? The person who died was going to die anyway (unless they died on purpose - I've seen it happen), and the rest of the team can get a Big Buff from it.
  24. Pretty sure Trial accounts can't do it.

Just get someone to help you. So many people just hang around and chat that they don't mind doing things like this to help out.
