  1. Oh I see. Thank you very much. I can't be botherd to transfer the files though as it will give me a chance to redo some of my arcs which I will have to do again when Going Rogue (the reason I bought a new computer in the first place) comes out to take advantage of the doubling of the story arc memory! :eyeroll:
  2. I've been playing around with MA for a while now and have had a lot of fun filling 5 out of 8 of my story arc slots but they are nothing to brag about compared to what I've seen others do and I don't think I really have a deep understanding of all the mechanics involved with this kind of player generated content.

Recently I got a new computer and discovered that while using it that many of my custom characters have vanished out of the MA editor and from my published arcs. I had one arc where all the minions and LTs from a custom group disappeared but the bosses remained. This leads me to conclude that since a lot of the custom character files are stored locally on my computer that other people playing my arcs when I'm not logged into the game must get a very pared down version of my arcs. Is this correct? And if so, is there anyway to get around this problem? Thanks for any information you can provide.
  3. Had a blast at this festival. Personally I figured that Ms. Liberty could handle one little mystical invasion herself for a change . The highlight for me was seeing Ms. Paragon City Virtue 2009: Freedom Darling in person although there were a lot of other fantastic costumes and toons.

Sadly the screen captures I tried to get of the event were an epic fail. Does anybody have any they could share? Thanks much.
  4. I'd have never figured that one out in a million years. Kudos to everyone who solved it so quickly.

All I can say is that I certainly hope that they didn't get paid.
The mission I played was a stinker. I would go into more detail, but it would give it away. I rated it what I thought it deserved - a 2. I thought it deserved a 1, but the grammar and spelling was correct.
It certainly did NOT make me want to play either of the other author's missions.

The sad part is, it seems that these missions start off with 5 stars. I don't think that votes really effect that rating. Too bad.

I expect a lot more out of guess authors, but part of the problem might be that they haven't played the game?
Maybe they don't understand that the main character(s) are the players and not the characters in their missions?
It was a waste of my time other than getting xp for running it. Honestly, I would have enjoyed it more if I had NOT read the text. And that is sad.

I'm really sorry to say that that is the case.
I thought the point of this thread was to provide useful feedback and if you don't name names and get into the details of why you didn't like something you are just not contributing anything useful to the discussion like how the guest author could improve his or her next arc. Also, deciding not to play the other two new guest authors' arcs because you didn't like the arc of the third author is the kind of highly questionable reasoning that makes me wonder if your opinion is worth anything at all.

I imagine if I'd been able to speak to the contact to see what the busy text was, it would have been a comment about how much my character sucks and how much better this other hero is than I am.
Actually she does a couple of funny lines about being too busy talking on the phone to speak to you and at least one about calling for an ambulance and I think a crack about you getting life insurance or something. I found them and the arc funny anyway. The contact was no more abrasive than say Mender Tesseract and it makes for a nice change from how fawning some contacts can be in a lot of MA arcs. If the Devs do it, it must be okay doesn't seem to fly much for critics in this forum but it seems to make sense to a more casual connoisseur such as myself.

So because some people have no sense of humor nobody else on the Interweb is allowed to? Screw that! Full steam ahead on the U.S.S. SexyJ! Torpedos away baby!
  8. 5 stars for Mystery on the Boardwalk! It's 4 missions long but the maps are either small or very easy to navigate and the humor carries you right through until the fight with the end boss that is a perfect balance of being a real challenge while not impossible to solo. Also it was a total kick to have a contact from a novel by one of my favorite authors in the game.

The very dense text is a great read and chock full of hilarious pop culture references which really surprised me as they are somewhat of a departure from the typical Mercedes Lackey fare. There are a few typos in it but not enough to take away from the enjoyment of the story, and having been humbled by the hundreds of mistakes in my own arcs that take months for me to ferret out, I can't hold a couple of errors against an author who is after all not working with a professional editor as one does when publishing books. I need a pocket editor to keep me from making typos! Now there would be a superpower worth having!

In a world of vanishing standards where a cast member of The Hills can have a bestseller I almost hesitate to ask, but what is it about Mercedes Lackey's books that you don't like exactly? I only ask because I think she's one of the most talented authors of fantasy ever and I'm always taken aback when somebody attacks the work of an author who has done stuff that is so much more amazing and beautiful than anything I could ever produce in a million years. I know taste in literature is supposed to be subjective but I have trouble accepting that there are people who really think that Tolkien is a bore or that Stephen King has never written a good book.

As a member of the Liberty team I wasn't prepared for the young hip looking Dr. Aeon as he ditched his lab coat for a fierce leather jacket although you could tell he had his combat armor on underneath which is probably why he was that rarest of all things, a blaster who didn't face plant even once. He also disdained the use of a Magic Fortune buff because it wasn't scientific enough for him. A gutsy move for a glass cannon, no? Of course we had more bubbles than you could count or see through as you can tell from the photo.

The choice of AT was appropriate cause the event was truly a blast. Thanks for hosting it your evilness. By the way, is it true that NutriPaste is people?
  11. Judging by the fact that the RWZ is full, which I've never seen on Champion I don't think, you won't want for teammates. Maybe I'll have better luck getting in on Liberty.
  12. Congratulations on the new promotion War Witch! I've been playing this game for years but have yet to be able to find all of the supposedly endless easter eggs in the invention tutorial (besides the one about that 80's song reference on the note pad). Any chance you can please, please, for the love of all that's holy, pretty please with sugar and ice cream on top, please drop us some hints as to where to look for those who are as clueless as me? Sorry, but it's quite maddening! Also can you tell us if there were any new easter eggs in the Hollows after you revamped it (which was awesome, by the way!).
  13. Same to you Doc. For an evil genius you sure do a lot of good. All part of your diabolical master plan for world domination, I'm sure.
  14. I was very impressed with this arc and loved how the brilliant body jumping idea was incorporated into the story. Congratulations to FemFury.
  15. Worked fine on my level 8 Widow without any problem. Weird huh?
  16. I just checked it out with my lvl 25 MM with 3 slotted Hurdle and she can jump at 63 MPH which is approaching SS' base numbers. And I can confirm that CJ toggles off automatically when NJ is on and vice versa for easy switching back and forth in combat.
  17. Combined with Hurdle I think Ninja Run is already faster than Flight, is it not?

Top speed for Ninja Run on my lvl 50 toon with only Swift not slotted for running is 39.38 MPH (46.53 MPH with Sprint!) Jumping Speed is 33.93 MPH and Max Jump Height is 31.80 feet (32.20' with Sprint). End use seems negligable or about what Sprint costs. Hurdle combined with this, especially if three slotted, is gonna be faster than Flight, no? Plus Ninja Run wins hands down for styleover any other travel power. The forward running animation is with one arm forward bent at the elbow with the other hand trailing behind but the animation when running backwards does have the two hands trailing behind anime style run and is the best part of this totally wonderful booster pack, imho. Great job to all the Devs who worked on this!

Edited: Because not enough (or anything?!) has been said about the fantastic cool sound effects that accompany NR.

    Re: MCM's best custom critter
Great idea. It could be a contact, it might not even be a custom (such as Becky in Becky's Revenge). Just a great actor. It would be impossible to expect a player to play ALL arcs to pick this 'objectively' so it'd need to have nominations just like other categories, and might even be a secondary award, selecting from just the finalist arcs (again to avoid making the voter's effort ridiculously big).
I like this idea. I'd have voted for the Injustice Legion from Wrong Number's arcs as the best custom group if I could have.

    Too Many Nerfs

Frankly I'm enjoying this "Ghost Town" where I can get teams whenever I want compared to what it was like prior to this supposed nerf when seemingly all anybody wanted to do was farm AE missions, although it was still possible to get teams together for non MA stuff, just took a little more work. If anything the game seems slightly more crowded than it was prior to the release of MA.
  21. Thanks for putting this whole contest together Bubbawheat. I'm very grateful that I got to play some great arcs that I otherwise probably would have missed. I didn't even get to them all and just missed voting in the Epic arc category by minutes, not that my votes would have changed the outcome significantly. Big congratulations to all the winners, nominees, and those who got honorable mentions. From what I've seen you all have done some amazing work and I do plan to finish playing all the arcs listed for this contest eventually.

Is it too early to start nominating arcs for next year?
  22. To be fair The Proving Grounds clearly stated in the arc description that it was designed as a kind of training room arc for VEAT super teams so I'm kind of impressed that we got as far as we did.

Really enjoyed the Sister Psyche abridged.
  23. True. Great job running this event, btw.

Why does it have to be that way? Isn't one of the main advantages of the MA system to do stuff that you don't get in the rest of the game? Frankly a lot of the low level Dev content is too easy anyway.
