Talk about apes cleaning up after we make the mess, we better hope Caesar doesn't figure out where the pressure points of our civilization are. If he gets control of an ICBM bunker and nukes the Middle East, that would start a shooting war that would effectively reduce us to barbarism. Heck, just take away the oil and all those fancy-schmancy helicopters, tanks and Humvees become useless lawn decorations inside a week. Take away the power stations and we end up turning on each other pretty soon after.

Wouldn't that more accurately translate to "armor-man?" "Kettenpanzer" means, roughly, "chainmail," but also was an armored track vehicle, kind of like an APC.

Then you should know that "english comp." is painfully incorrect. It should be written as, "I used to tutor English Comp when I was in community college."

    It's called a "suspended hyphen."

That's how one delineates two items which are hyphenated compound words and/or have the same suffix. It's a written way to better communicate your intent that the two items are connected. Say them out loud and you can see how it works.

"Venture gave many arcs 4- and 5-star ratings," is similar to things like, "We have old cars that are battery- and steam-powered." Or, "The orbital laser cannon has both high- and low-power settings."

"This is going to be the toughest decision you've made all night."

But rewrote it on "Final" as:
"This could be the toughest challenge you faced all night."

The first would come off to me (a player) as a definite and you know what's challenging to me. The second, I feel is more like an outside source is trying to understand me and doesn't assume what's challenging to me.
This, right here, is what writers need to keep in mind when creating interactive fiction. Good show. I want to play your arc!

I'm with Team Eva. I've said before that I barely even read the detailed stuff in the mission briefings. I like the plots but not how they're presented. (I completely ignore stuff about powers, enhancements and Incarnate rigmarole, as well as the blurbs at the start of missions.) Basically I skim the story for the salient details, then go on once I know the basic plot. The flavor of the text is something that I don't care for so selectively edit out.

It actually makes for a much more enjoyable gaming experience. Self-delusion, try it!
  11. Dude, that's awesome. I also know a place where you can get free character ideas for red shirts and stuff.
  12. Turns out Mr. Spooner is still alive, but he's not really part of the classic cast.

The show's going off the air in a month and STILL they refuse to let it all hang out. I was genuinely expecting a version of the "world of cardboard" speech and a serious punch-up... but yet again it fizzled. A superhero show about THE superhero and hardly any fisticuffs. Seems to me Clark would have to beat anti-Clark (why is he called Clark again?) almost senseless before he could change his mind. The superhero version of a scream-fest where you exhaust all your rage before you're willing to listen to reason.

And like the Doomsday fight, they've been teasing the cape all this time with no forward progress. If anti-Clark had taken Lois up in the air and forced Clark to fly to get her, how cool would that have been? I could accept the bad writing if only they'd have a proper dust-up now and again.

  14. Are You Being Served has been a staple of viewing for years for just about everyone I know. I've never been that into Britcoms, but of course I've seen most of them because of everyone else's interest. I've probably watched this show more than any other and it's weird to think of the cast no longer being around. I saw Banister a few years ago and couldn't believe he was nearly 70.

I think only Capt. Peacock and Mr. Rumbold are still alive now.

Just slap the "Mature" label on it. You can't link to it from here, but I've probably seen worse and weirder on DA.

They can hide in plain sight, so to speak.

A "Rise of the apes" scenario would not have this advantage, since the population of great apes in and around the San Francisco area is limited to less than a hundred in zoos and universities and the like, and the likelihood of an innocent ape just walking down the Embarcadero is pretty minimal. Therefore if you were taking fire from somewhere and then you see an ape walking away and acting casual, you're probably clear to engage. It's not like they're the Viet Cong. They don't look like the local populace.

I'm not saying "gorilla tactics" would be useless, I just think that would be a non-insignificant disadvantage they'd have to overcome.
I take your point about the blending-in, but I don't think smart gorillas should be so casually dismissed as a threat, despite modern weapons.
  19. ...and in honor of Thor's director, Kenneth Brannagh, here's one of my all-time favorite movie posters. If you've seen the film, you get how amazing this design is.

  20. In the spirit of the Retro Star Wars Travel Posters, here's the website of graphic artist Olly Moss. He does cool stuff, such as the awesome Thor poster Marvel commissioned him to make for the film's cast and crew. So much better than the actual posters, isn't it?

Ok sure thats some good advantages.

Lets see what the humans have going for them.
    1. There are more of us.
    2. Tech. Tanks, guns, nukes, fighter jets and helicoppers etc.

And the apes win? I dont think so. This is why i couldnt get into the orginals
I would just tell you to take a look at any insurgent battle ever fought. From the Revolutionary War to modern day, guerrilla warfare (no pun intended) is incredibly hard to counter. Imagine if those same guerrillas had mecha combat suits that increased their speed and strength 5-fold. It doesn't take that many of them to make one helluva mess.

    What does that even mean?

They don't have to INVENT civilization, they just have to take ours. Apes are faster than us, stronger than us and more resilient than us. The only thing we have over them is our freakishly large brains. Equalize that particular playing field and we're fighting an uphill battle.

Also...tactical nukes, napalm, grenades, jets, and tanks beat brute force of Smart Gorillas.
Not if the gorillas tear the door off its hinges, reach in, grab you by the throat, and toss your hairless butt to the tarmac and take over the helicopter/Humvee/Abrams. Besides, no one is going to nuke a major American city just to stop some monkeys. Not until it's too late.
