When speaking of multiple universes, "have to be" is a nonsensical phrase, just as "can not be." It *might* be the same Rikti, it *might* different but essentially identical Rikti.

I think he's on the can. Again.
  3. You know what's REALLY dying? Spelling abilities.

Dying means actively heading toward death.

Dieing means actively cutting out forms and shapes with a die. (As in "tool-and-die" or "die-cast metal.")

Dyeing means actively coloring something, as an item of clothing or one's hair.

I know, I know, another "grammar nazi" post. But I'm in a lot of pain and therefore cranky and you came up short on the latest spin of Wheel... Of... Annoyance!

As, let's face it, old Praetoria was a shoddy 'evil twin' dimension when Jack built it.
Now that you mention it, I vaguely recall something like this coming up in Durakken's "Lore" thread, where someone said there is only one Shadow Shard and only one Underworld, but multiple Earths. (I'm envisioning it as a building with three floors: the basement is the Underworld, the attic is the Shadow Shard and the second floor has multiple rooms, each room being a different Earth.) If that's indeed the case, then BrynStar's objection is valid, because Infernal is unique and he can't both be on Primal Earth and Praetorian Earth at the same time. Unlike everyone else, that would mean there is only one of him in all the multiple universes.

As an aside, everyone saying "multiple dimensions" is confusing, because there *are* multiple dimensions: 3rd dimension, fourth dimension, etc. The proper terminology is "multiple universes" or "parallel universes."

I don't think i'm going to get a "real" answer, because there could be a dimension where Rikti invade Praetoria instead of ours, and I guess that "Infernal" is an alternate of our Infernal where the ceremony sent him to Praetorian instead of Primal earth.

    *Shrugs*
I think you answered your own question. Or maybe there's some other reason why Infernal ended up on Praetorian Earth.

Ever watch the show Sliders? It also dealt with parallel universes and multiple Earths. Some were practically identical to ours while others were radically different. In one the differences were so minor it was difficult for the adventurers to figure out what they were, in another dinosaurs ruled the planet. With infinite universes, anything is possible.

I only read a few comics and Wolverine has a tendency to turn up in all of them. I have no objection to him if he's well-written and it's logical for him to show up, but a lot of times it feels like he's been shoehorned in by editorial dictum.
  7. Some of that is really reminiscent of the Solaris score.
  8. This may be old news to others, but I've been a little off my game lately and was just catching up. In The New Avengers #1, Bendis finally reveals what Wolverine's true mutant power really is. It explains so, so much.

Is there some mystical mysterious way of finding out this information? Or is it lost in the vortex black whole like parts of the internets?
That's actually an interesting question. Now you've got me curious about my characters, as well. I know a few of them are carry-overs from beta, so they'd be the oldest, created during the headstart, but I wonder which ones came first?

Matinee (opens up a lot of discussions, plus it's funny as hell if you get it)
  11. For self-contained story and art that resembles Ashley Woods' (kinda-sorta), I'd recommend Criminal Macabre by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith. You don't need to know anything about Cal McDonald or the world to jump right in; I didn't and did just fine, because Niles is riffing on hard-boiled detective tropes in a horror setting. I've only read one of the 30 Days of Night collections, but I enjoyed that, as well.

Also, one of the single best series of all time is 100 Bullets. The art is consistently amazing, and as the story goes along it becomes richer, deeper and, dare I say it, more depraved (but in a good way). I'd say it's prescient in its oblique discussions about power and the abuses thereof, but we've always had that problem, haven't we? Plus, it's a cool concept. Some of the stories I had to flip back a couple pages to re-read, thining to myself, "Did they really just DO that?!" It runs 100 issues, to a slam-bang finale.
  12. Because it's a woman it doesn't fit your primary criterion, but I think the monologue when Barbara Novak (Renee Zellweger) reveals who she really is in Down With Love is one of the greatest of all time.

SPOILERS if you haven't seen the movie, because she lays out the entire plot.

    Bleeding Ulcer?

Thanks for the good words and kind thoughts. In half an hour I start the prep for tomorrow's procedure. The prep sounds like the worst of it, actually.

The endoscope is easy and you won't remember it because of the drugs. It'll tell them all they need to know. Just listen to the doctors, they know how to treat this stuff.

If I have any real advice, it would be that you needn't settle on one drug for treatment of stomach acid. They'll want to put you on a proton-pump blocker, probably Nexium. Nexium gives me headaches. You have other choices -- Aciphex and Prevacid, or the over-the-counter Prilosec (which is an early formulation of Nexium that works better for some people). If you don't like the side effects of the drug they give you, ask to try another one until you find what works for you.
I should have noted that the most likely cause of an ulcer would be my arthritis medication. I do take Prilosec as a preventative (and have doubled my daily dosage on doctor's orders) but if the meds are the cause, I clearly wasn't taking enough. I have since stopped taking a number of my meds, which has increased my pain quite a bit, but what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right?

I'm definitely cognizant of side effects of drugs -- I certainly take enough! I seem to tolerate most of them pretty well. Well, until now. Here's my usual batch that gets me through the day, I think the total is 26 pills a day.

I got arthritis from an insect bite. I didn't know that was even possible until it happened to me. Last March I "celebrated" my 20th anniversary of contracting arthritis. I suppose I'm fortunate I haven't had too many serious side effects in the ensuing decades, but this one seems pretty serious. Hoping that it's fixable -- I also feel guilty for using up blood that crash victims or the like might need.

    Bleeding Ulcer?

    Anyone have experience with this?

I ask because I may have one. My hematocrit level (the amount of red blood cells you have in your system) dropped to 21, which is in the danger zone. My doctor told me that at 18 people are generally flat on their back unconscious... or worse. So I was lucky they caught it through happenstance. I spent Friday night at the hospital getting a transfusion and I feel 100% better, but if I'm bleeding internally as they suspect, I'm not sure how long this will last.

The two potential causes are a bleeding ulcer or leukemia, which are super fun choices. They're pretty sure it's not leukemia, for which I am immensely thankful, but I need to return to the hospital tomorrow for multiple tests and to get scoped inside and out, top to bottom. (I think you know what I'm trying to say.)

Just wondering if anyone has info or advice.

(I did a self-examination and I'm pretty sure my lack of blood is not caused by vampires. However, if I start posting only at night, you'll know something's up.)
  18. Is this a special "end of arc" mission or maybe a bugged mission?

The Roleplay forum is where most fan fiction resides. When people do it in comic book form, it comes here.

Fans would wail though, since they already feel that Batman is too much like Iron Man, in the way that he has a gadget for everything. But come on....when you find yourself against powered enemies more often than normal for a non-powered hero, you kinda do need a gadget for everything.
In Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Miller essentially did put Bruce in an Iron Man outfit, precisely because that's the only way he could stand up to Superman. Even when Batman utilized Clark's Achilles Heel by dousing and weakening him with kryptonite, Superman still peeled the suit off Batman like it was tinfoil. Of course, Bruce had planned for that. The interesting thing is, though, Superman definitely looked like he'd gotten his big blue bottom handed to him. Naturally he healed, but he looked like 40 miles of rough road there after Batman and Green Arrow gave him the once-over.

Even the Nolan films put Batman in actual armor, but it's more like a soldier's type of thing rather than a full-on battlesuit like Tony Stark's. It just makes sense.
