Quote:This doesn't really help the storage situation. My idea was to create another VG and make it a coalition with the Original.
And that's why. Coalition members can't access storage in coalition bases; only their own base. You'll have to email stuff to someone in the other SG to store it. And when I say "someone", it can be another character on the same account. Just mail to your own global name and anyone on the same account can claim it (same faction only until Going Rogue, then either faction). -

Quote:Well, you can pull up detailed power information right in-game. If you have a power (or a recipe, or an enhancement), DRAG the icon into your chat bar and drop it. It will not be removed from where you were dragging from and it will put the name in the chat line. Hit <enter> and it will bring up an info screen.i just really want to dig into the mechanics of this game. maybe there's something out there and i'm not finding it.
You can do this for ANY power or item in the game, even if you don't have it. You just need to know the name and put it in square brackets. For example, type the following into your chat line:
[Dry Heave] <enter>
Seriously, that's actually a power.
The players can't have it, but I think it's the best power name in the game. -
Quote:Let me think . . .Just out of curiosity do you find the tablet that big an improvement over using a mouse for image work? I've considered getting one for Photoshop but since I've never used one before I'm unsure if it's really worth it.
.
.
.
YES!
Seriously, I was doing some detailed work in Photoshop (a moving notice that my brother wanted to mail out) using a mouse and, by the time I was done, my shoulder actually ached. I got the tablet right after that. Even the lowest-end product from a decent manufacturer (Graphire series from Wacom) made a huge, huge difference. A dinky little tablet with a 4x5" sensor surface was a fantastic improvement in terms of accuracy and comfort. A friend of mine is a graphic artist and has a 12x12" high-end tablet and it's amazing.
Make no mistake, though, even a low-end tablet costs more than a good mouse. I got my tablet several years ago, on sale, and I had a discount coupon, and it was $75. I never regretted it. -

Quote:I agree with your premise (price caps are bad), but the section I highlighted is actually not how the market works. A bunch of us on the market channel did an experiment to see exactly how it did work if there were a bunch of bids in place at the same price. We found some garbage item and bought them all. Then we had a whole group of people each put in a bid at the exact same price. Then the items were put up for sale at 1 inf, one at a time to see whose bid was filled first.Zombie's example was relevant and correct, even if the numbers were a bit off. Price caps cause nothing but problems, both in the real world and in this game. For example, let's say you want to buy a shiny new Gladiator's Armor: +3% defense IO. You check the market and see that the last 5 have all sold for 2 billion, but you're not worried because you have 2 billion. Now you look at the bidding/selling and see there are 500 bidders but none for sale and the last one to sell was three days ago. Now you realize that if you bid your 2 billion, you'll essentially be the 501st person in line, which means you will be waiting literal months, perhaps years (I'm not exaggerating) unless you get lucky.
It is NOT first in, first out. It's basically random. It wasn't truly random. If we had a fixed number of people putting in bids at the same price, they would always get filled in the same order. If you have a large number of bidders, and they don't know the sequence in which everyone else listed their bids, it's EFFECTIVELY random. -

Quote:Madame Danger AKA Maria Jenkins.Marcus Cole is more than a hundred years old. He's one of the most famous men in history, and he's one of the world's greatest heroes.
What kind of woman would it take to be in an equal relationship with him? Could a "normal" woman have the experience and force of personality it would take to be his partner?
From her in-game info:
Quote:In the early days of the Statesman's costumed career, he worked with a woman called Madame Danger. Maria Jenkins, as she called in her other identity, was his closest friend and confidant for many years. Slowly her powers began to fade with time but she was aging quite slowly. When she met Statesman in the 1930's she appeared to be in her mid twenties. Although she is retired, Maria certainly does not look over a hundred years of age. Maria has been out of the limelight for some time, but was one of the first to realize that Statesman was missing. This frightening conclusion has caused her to become more actively involved in things. -
Quote:What? You think we're all smart enough to use these uber l33t search techniques?I found the map I use via the crafty tactic of pulling up the search tab and typing in

P.S. Fascinating. The editor in Firefox flags "uber" as a spelling error, but not "l33t".

Quote:Well, you can do it without the word "but". For example: "I'm sorry you're too stupid to understand what I'm saying.""I'm sorry, but..." followed by a justification.
We finally had it out, and I said, "If the word 'but' is anywhere in the sentence, then it isn't an apology. It's a justification."

Quote:Same here. Only my main/badger toon is purpled. Everyone else costs me a lot less to IO. I continue to play the market for one main reason: I hope that some day they will add purple sets for defense and healing (my main is broadsword/regen).I have to admit I don't even worry about influence/infamy any more.
-
42. Wait, sorry, wrong question.
I have one toon permanently parked at 37. As I level new characters, I spend all their merits on random rolls somewhere in the range of 33-37 (it depends on when I feel like it). -

Interesting comparison. Back when they nerfed the AoE holds, illusion got hit particularly hard and many people did in fact start skipping their AoE holds because they felt the power simply was not worth it and that it required too many slots (i.e. six) to make it even marginally effective.

Quote:Now you're wrong. Using all caps for emphasis is a style choice. Using arch instead of arc is simply wrong.Typing words in all caps in the middles of a sentence is just as wrong as using arch instead of arc. Or worse really. Correcting you if case someone less knowledgeable does come along and learn something wrong.
Just pointing this out in case someone less knowledgeable about trolling comes along and your post slips past them.

Yeah, but you really don't want to scrimp on your IO systems. The monitor, mouse and keyboard are your interface with the computer. A cheap mouse and/or keyboard can contribute to repetitive stress injuries (i.e. carpal tunnel syndrome, etc). I use a Logitech cordless laser mouse at home, a Logitech trackball at work and a graphics tablet if I'm going to be editing an image.

Quote:You know, I was agreeing with everything so far. I was particularly impressed with how you stated it was your opinion and based on your personal experience..... then you had to go and act like you're speaking for some majority. The reason most of us out there have ZERO faith in tauntless tankers is

To be fair, it's actually hard to learn how to play a tank well. I don't read any of the other AT forums, but tanks always struck me as more complex and more difficult to play WELL. And by 'playing a tank well', I mean playing them *AS* a tank, filling the classic role of aggro control and protecting the team.Quote:Face reality, people. For every 1 of you here that has posted an intelligent argument and SEEMS to know how to build and play some sort of non traditional "Tank" that can still be effective in the classic role, there are HUNDREDS of the idiot types who cause wipe after wipe while DEMANDING to be respected as the perfect classic tank.
Back to the main discussion - I think you can build for your role, that being a 'classic' tank, without taking Taunt. You just have to be using the right powersets and picking the right powers. I have an ice/SS tank who has no problem operating without Taunt. Out of six tanks, this is my only one that does not have Taunt. He has two taunt auras, two AoE attacks and four ranged attacks. Given that background, Taunt just doesn't bring as much to the table as it does for my WP tank. -
I would agree. Once upon a time, I was dating a woman from Puerto Rico. She spoke English quite well (better than a lot of Americans I know), but had some problems with verb tenses (English is notorious for this). The first time I corrected her, I immediately asked if that bothered her. She said it did not, and that she wanted me to always correct her, even if there were other people around.

Okay, now I have a better idea what you can do. I think diminishing returns will keep you from increasing five-fold each day, so..... 1.38 billion.Quote:hmm....
I really have no clue how facile you are with the market. Actually, I don't even have a clue how much I might be able to earn if I had to start from zero.
I'll guess 205 million.
Anyway, if you even slightly outperform my calculations on a daily basis, you'll hit the cap. Will you transfer extra influence OFF of this character in order to keep making money? Should we be making guesses like 2.7 billion?
