Quote:Ran Tina's arc on my Spider from front to back and defeated all AVs offered. Ran Maria's arc and every single one of her missions, and defeated all AVs present. Defeated everyone on the list more than once, and still stuck at 12/14.Quote:Try running the Maria's old arc in Oro and see if that triggers the last two AVs.This is a well-known issue. Positron and Black Scorpion have posted that they are looking into it. You are missing Siege and Nightstar. Siege does not appear in the new arc and the Nightstar that appears is borked and not counting for the badge.Quote:Dur. That's a great idea. I'll watch the counter closely and report to BS to see if we can track this down.
er, to be precise, I think just Posi posted that he and BS were investigating. They didn't both post. -
Hi, sorry to all, I'm a newbie to this game,
Oh, then we all owe each other apologies. We were all new once.
(Btw I thought Stalkers were supposed to be locked until I leveled at least one character to level 20, but somehow it unlocked itself the 3rd or 4th time I logged on.. On day 2 I believe.)
Nope. Stalkers are a standard type. Nothing to unlock. Maybe you didn't notice it initially because you didn't scroll down far enough?
Is there a major differences to choosing your origin? I've heard that choosing the Science origin gives you slightly harder enemies at the start. Other than that, and storyline, is there a difference?
Actually, you can fight any enemies you want, at any time. You can CHOOSE to follow the mission arcs from your initial origin contact (I don't).
The only difference I can think of is that, after being here for YEARS, when you get a particular vet power you have more options if you are Natural origin. But this is so trivial that I don't think anyone cares. In fact, most of my characters are not Natural origin since I like unusual backgrounds.
Do I get to rechoose origins? I know I CAN'T rechoose powersets, but I couldn't find anything about Origins.
Nope. You can't change your name, origin, AT or powersets.
PS: What is an AT?
Archetype (i.e. stalker, mastermind, scrapper, etc). Many game systems refer to this as 'class'. -
Yes, but - you mention that you don't have a preference between EU or NA servers. If your existing account is EU, you can't upgrade it to get access to Freedom and Virtue. You would need to start a new account.

I prefer option 1, as long as we're not talking dramatic changes (like altering the neckline, sleeve length - stuff like that). If the overall shape/structure is staying the same, but it is getting finer detail, I think that's the way to go.
Quote:And this is where I think the old items should stay. Some people use stationary tails intentionally as they have designed their toon as 'someone wearing a costume' rather than 'someone who has a tail'. As the most extreme example - the vast majority of those using the bunny tail intend it as a 'costume' item and not an actual tail.Possible grist for the mill:
--non-animated tails were left in Costume Creator when Animated Tails were added. Do any of you use the non-moving ones at this point?
I don't think there are huge numbers who use the other stationary tails intentionally but, for those who do, having only an animated tail completely destroys their concept. -
Quote:Two new badges, in fact. They split the TF into two parts and each awards a new badge.BAlso, aswelltooalso, as to in the regarding of the TF, this is a new badge, isn't it?
In my experience, each part takes between 1 and 1-1/4 hours. And this was when it was new so we weren't speeding through it and hadn't learned any shortcuts.Quote:Also, also, I have to pick my wife up from the airport and leave by about 5. This doesn't take 4-5 hours, does it? It is an improvement over the old Posi TF... Right? -
Maybe you shouldn't, Ryan, since the event was a few days ago.

Quote:Accept that the majority like the system the way it is.This is a fallacy.
The fact there are other names available is irrelevant. There are always going to be "names" available, even if they are just random letters. The question is how far do you have to go from the name you want before it's not the name you want anymore. You personally may not have minded going 'Jack Wild', but you do not speak for everyone.
Accept that other people do mind.
Of COURSE not. Because their "knee jerk response" that they apparently made "without any information or facts" happens to NOT be the position you favor. Hey, I know what we can do! Let's consider the possibility that their response wasn't knee-jerk, or wrong, or stupid in some way. Maybe it was a well-considered opinion and the majority really don't want the same thing you do.Quote:The crowd, like a number of people in this thread, reacted with a knee jerk response with no time to give any thought to the matter and without any information or facts.
That is not something to make a decision based on. -
Quote:um, says who? I don't think you understand how it works. When they run the name purge script, no one actually loses their name. They are just flagged as available. The name isn't removed unless someone else actually tries to use it.There's someone who posts in these threads (sorry, forgot who) who mentions that his low-level trial character ("A Guy With Bots"?) is still alive and kicking after nearly a thousand days. So it's pushing three years at least since even low level names were purged.
So, if no one WANTS the name "A Guy With Bots", it can stick around forever no matter how many times they purge the names. -
Quote:Not difficult at all. They already have a script that checks character level and time inactive. They would just need to change a couple of variables. There are some solid names that will never be used again by long dead inactive accounts of ex-customers who will never return and I see no reason in keeping it that way. That's all.
If it is a hassle and costs too many resources, then it's not worth it. I just doubt (standard code rant) that it's that costly. I could be wrong about that aspect though. -
Quote:Not that it does any good - they can't get the beacons.Heroes who go Vigilante can explore redside, get all the redside exploration badges and zone accolades, and earn all the redside beacon badges for their SG.
Yep. All the aforementioned villain or rogue needs is a friend with a Recall power. -
Well, once upon a time, you needed to heal 1 billion points for the Empath badge - which I got on my scrapper long before the requirement was lowered. Now that the requirement is so much lower, I could have gotten Empath the way I got the first 3 badges (and almost the 4th one) - using Aid Other. Sadly, the method I used doesn't work any more.
I would go to RV, get a Heavy and have it take out a pillbox, positioning it so that at least 2 turrets were shooting it. I would just stand in the shadow of the pillbox and heal the Heavy.... and heal it... and heal it. I took out over 3,000 turrets that way (around 800 pillboxes, back when you needed 1,000 for the final badge).
So..... I think patience is a big factor also.
-
Yeah, we get that. It's not something important to you. I like it. And, just off the top of my head, I think it might have been less work than revamping PvP. You know, just a little bit less..... like by a factor of 100 or so.
-
Looking over your post, I don't see that you included the temporary endurance boost from the Safeguard/Mayhem missions.....
-
It may be certain types of Eagles that have this situation (or it may be tied to certain types of missions). Some of the time, though, you have Eagles that you just can't bring down. Either they have a much higher flly mag or they have something weird going on, like the Mitos on their invisible pedestals.

Quote:Firstly, people are going to use names with punctuation and numbers even if they don't need to.People have been using "creative" punctuation and extra numbers for too long. Frankly I tire of it.
It'd rather have to look at two Captain Shadows than ever see "The_Capta1n-Shad0w." thank you. It's ugly, damages suspension of disbelif and most importantly, there is no need for it. The devs have already offered to put it to bed.
If someone wants the name, they're going to use that "creative" crap to have it. So just GIVE it to them without the clutter and nonsense punctuation marks. Other than schadenfreude and being petty and childish, there's no reason not to.
Secondly, I don't want someone else to have the same name as me. And I really don't care if you think that's petty and childish. -
-
It's a minor annoyance that only delays you as long as it takes to hit the login button again. I can't imagine it's high on the devs' to-do list.

Quote:Nope. Just stating that I normally create a character and take them all the way to 50. At any given time, I generally only have about 2 active toons (i.e. able to earn XP).At the moment, he's my only active toon that isn't 50 yet. At least, on Primal Earth. I have a few Praetorians who will be showing up here shortly.

Yeah, I can't imagine they would share a timer. Every task force and strike force has their own timer. Even the respec trials are considered 3 separate trials.
-
Offhand, if you're noting these results manually, you don't have enough data to justify investigation. You need to have automated capture of the data. You need many THOUSANDS of data points to even think about proving anything. Arcanaville said she routinely analyzes MILLIONS of results.

Quote:Yep. I was installing temperature monitoring software over the weekend and, during installation, it asked if it should deactivate UAC prompts for itself so it can load with Windows without bothering me.might as well turn UAC off.
It's about as successful as any other Microsoft technology at preventing unauthorized access to your computer.
It doesn't actually work.
If a legit program can ask if it should deactivate UAC (to which I replied yes, and it DID), then malware can certainly do it without asking. -
The NCSoft store has historically been unable to deal with heavy loads. It probably just crumpled under the press of holiday gamers.

It's worth noting that the third item is now useless except as decoration. The Combat Logs (arcane version is Contemplation Charts) sells Break Frees. But you can just buy 3 blues and greens from the Auto-Doc (Tree of Wonders) and combine them to make a Break Free.
