No, no overdrive feature.
Interestingly, the problem seems to have gone away. Previously, I had the wireless mouse 'dongle' sticking out the back of a KVM switch with the switch sitting on top of the computer case. The new computer has an exhaust fan on top of the case, so I moved the KVM switch - perhaps a foot. The other day, I moved it about another foot again, in a random direction, and the problem seems to have stopped. (shrug) The original location, the problem location and the current location all are situated behind a steel desk and there are no other electronic devices nearby. -
Quote:Wait for it. I had prices crater on something I was flipping. I just kept buying, and had to add an extra enhancement table to store the stuff. Eventually I sold it all at close to DOUBLE what I was getting a couple months ago. Sometimes the market just goes berserk for no apparent system. Didn't Burton Malkiel write a book "A Random Walk Through Wentworth's"?But now prices have been PLUMMETING. One of the items sold for one FORTIETH it's going value from when i put it up!
Now i have plenty more market slots, so i'm not feeling any urgency towards taking these down, but dang, this really stinks!

Quote:I would never do such a thing! I got the badge by beating up doors.I've always thought "Reformed" was a fairly silly name for that badge, especially back in the day when the only way a hero could get it was to confuse Longbow in Bloody Bay. Doesn't sound like a -reformed- activity to me.

Okay, this is the first time in over five years I've had this particular problem. I was logging in and the software crashed at server selection. ("City of Heroes has encountered a problem and needs to close.") I didn't think much of it, restarted and had it crash again at the same point.
I had it verify files, then it downloaded a file manifest and fixed one file (I believe it was bin.pigg). I started up the game and it worked fine after that.
This is on a new computer that I built last week and installed CoH on just this past Friday. I played all weekend with no problems. My question is: was I just lucky I never saw this in five years of playing or does anyone think it suggests a problem with my computer? -
Quote:Save for retirement? So technically I have $20 bucks left burning a hole in my pocket.

Same here about those being the only two items I don't have. I have EVERYTHING else. If I was going to buy one of those, it would be the Wedding Pack. I may yet do so. The costume pieces are quite impressive and I don't have a lot of use for emotes in general.Quote:The plan is too spend part of that money on a booster, but there's only two boosters I don't own yet. Wedding and Party. -
Quote:It's not about profit. It's about hosing other players. If I can make someone exasperated at the market, I chortle with glee. Any profit is just a bonus. muahahahahahahaBut, y'know, keep worrying about a shadowy cabal of eebil geniuses out there breaking their backs for a, what, 500k profit per slot?
>.>Quote:A "cabal"? Since when is a group of players (even a hypothetical group) a "cabal"?

The correct word is 'cartel', but you didn't hear it from me. -
Quote:Well, yay. Now she has posted and it seems my observations were accurate.First off, I know what the thread title is because I made the thread. Secondly, you'll have to forgive me if I dont trust YOUR opinion... especially considering that you are not a dev. I am open-minded enough to entertain all possibilities and that's why I said that I'll believe it when Arcanaville says it. NOT YOU.
No mess-up there at all. "Combat chat" is the correct phrasing.Quote:Secondly, YOU'RE the one that messed up and said "log combat chat" instead of combat rolls. Point the finger at yourself.
I guess that explains your PM telling me to "SHUT THE **** UP!" When logic fails, resort to shouting.Quote:Lastly, you're not a dev--I have no reason to believe anything you say. I created this thread to get the devs opinions, not yours. -
Quote:Yeah.... I had an alignment mission today where I was supposed to "diffuse the bombs". Ouch. Just bug it when you find something like that and they'll get fixed eventually.I discovered that what REALLY drags this arc down is its writing, and I don't even mean that in an artistic sense. The briefings are full of typos and suspect grammar and a lot of it comes off more as exposition than actual natural speech. The arc is great, but it REALLY needs to pass through an editor, because I gave up tracking down obvious text errors pretty much from the get-go.

Quote:As stated, it happens randomly and always has.So does anyone know if this is an error or part of the game now?
Naturally, when you DON'T want it to reset, it will reset. I had CoH crash earlier. I restarted and got back in the mission in well under one minute and it had reset. -
Quote:Wow, get over it! Can you explain how you would even do 'simulated' rolls that actually test the game random number generator? Only the devs could do simulations of this. The only way a player can check it is by ACTUAL PLAY.Again, when I hear Arcanaville say that it's not simulations, I'll believe... unless of course, you are a dev.
Of course, you can believe whatever you want. I understand that some people still believe the Earth is flat.
BTW...
The THREAD TITLE is "Random Hit roll counter". The entire thread is about hit rolls.Quote:Sorry for the misunderstanding... your original post said, "Log combat chat" which would seem to imply combat logs. You said nothing about combat rolls. -
It is clear that one or more accolade badges that involve 'Patroller' are borked. One of my characters has had Patroller for a long time. When he got Vanguard Recruit, he did NOT get the Mercenary accolade. The accolade shows a full progress bar, but the badge did not award.
This character is a hero and has NEVER changed alignments. After getting Vanguard Recruit, I zoned multiple times and logged out and back in - no accolade. It's definitely broken. -
Okay, having an odd mouse issue. The mouse in question is a Logitech cordless laser mouse. The problem is that the pointer 'skips' across the screen sometimes. As I move the mouse steadily, the pointer stays motionless, then jumps a few inches, stops again, jumps again, etc.
Relevant details:
1) The surface I'm using it on is clean and I have been using this and other optical mice on this desktop for years.
2) The mouse optical sensor is clean.
3) I tried a new set of batteries and there was no difference.
4) It doesn't do this constantly, and it can do it in CoH, a browser, or the Windows desktop.
5) OS is Windows 7. This is on a brand new computer I built last week.
6) The mouse is just under 4 years old. Do they do this when they are wearing out?
Any ideas? -
Get someone who *IS* 50 to lead and get the arc. All you need is to be level 45 or higher. And if the level 50 doesn't want to stay around, they can quit. Once the arc is started, you can be leader even if you are not 50. HOWEVER, I'm not sure what level the mission would then be set to. So, ideally, find a level 50 who wants to do the whole arc (or experiment and see what happens).

Are there any contacts redside that don't need an introduction? On blue, there's David Wincott, Jim Temblor, Stephanie Peebles, Mayor Gordon Bower. I guess Levantera counts since she's accessible to both sides.

Quote:I wasn't saying combat LOGS, I was saying combat ROLLS.If that is true then either one of two things are happening: combat logs are being obtained without our knowledge (exceptionally doubtful) or people are submitting their combat logs to devs--which Arcanaville already said doesn't happen. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get millions of combat logs in a relatively (under a year) short amount of time.
Wait, what? Do you mean LOGS or ROLLS. If you mean 'combat logs', I agree. If you mean 'combat rolls', your math fails.Quote:Do you know how many combat logs would have to be retrieved in order to get MILLIONS of combat rolls? With a subscriber rate of half a million, just receiving three million combat rolls would be challenging.
It's not simulations. We had a thread in the market section that was analyzing THOUSANDS of MERIT REWARD ROLLS. Each of those cost someone 20 reward merits. If we can get thousands of merit rolls, getting millions of combat rolls is a walk in the park.Quote:It's simulations... unless Arcanaville says otherwise. It would be too much work to pull all of that info. -
Quote:Yeah, I think the spawning is borked. It's not consistently bad but, when it's bad, it's REALLY bad. I was doing that mission (solo) and the first ambush had a Sapper. Okay, that's reasonable. The second ambush had a Sapper. That's a little annoying. The third ambush was TWO SAPPERS. All we need next is a mission where every spawn is all Sappers.I've done the "Save Black Panther 952" twice, and won't do it again. After the second time I /bug'd it, and even stated in the bug report that because of this problem I will Dismiss that tip every time I receive it in the future. Had this been any group but Malta it probably wouldn't have been so bad, but on my last attempt I had 5 sappers pretty much making it impossible to do anything.

I'm in - bringing my tank 5p4rk.

Quote:Wrong. You are correct when you say simulations are not the same. I think they would be pretty useless. The easiest way to obtain millions of REAL results is to log combat chat while playing normally. While I agree with you, IronBlade, I know that there is a difference between running simulations and actually playing the game. That's what I'm talking about here--actual game play. Simulations can only take you so far... it's the players that do "random things" that the computer has never even contemplated that changes the game. Look at how many bugs and/or cheats were discovered by players... not the computer... by people playing the game on a daily basis.
In order to obtain millions of results, you are definitely not using gameplay numbers--you are running computer simulations. -
Quote:Is the mere EXISTENCE of the streakbreaker mentioned anywhere in game? I don't recall ever seeing it. If the system is never even mentioned, why would you expect it to be "spelled out in plain English"?The streak breaker is a piece of crap then. This is not spelled out in plain obvious English in an easy to find source in game, and the accuracy of the attack shouldn't matter.
While this is technically true, you *CAN* improve the odds of hitting with a veteran attack. You do it by changing YOUR overall odds to hit. This can be accomplished with set bonuses, which provide global accuracy (i.e. affecting all of your powers) or by powers like Tactics, Focused Accuracy, Targeting Drone, etc. Indirectly, you can also accomplish the same end result by REDUCING the defense of the enemy by debuffing them.Quote:We can't even enhance veteran attacks for accuracy, -

Having it not suck? And yes, I think that would be a good thing. A wider variety of activities will attract a wider variety of players (PvE, writing missions, base building, badge hunting, PvP, etc).

Slotting accuracy, damage or healing will affect the pets. So will stuff like hold, immobilize, etc if the pet can actually use those.
I *think* that slotting recharge reduction affects the power only, and not the pets. (I only have one MM and he's only level 21 - not my favorite AT.)
