Sad!!!

So i put some high-priced items up a couple weeks ago for a little below the going rate. High enough to not get low-balled, but low enough that if people continued bidding at their current rate, i'd eventually sell what I wanted to.

But now prices have been PLUMMETING. One of the items sold for one FORTIETH it's going value from when i put it up!

Now i have plenty more market slots, so i'm not feeling any urgency towards taking these down, but dang, this really stinks!

Sorry, just felt like venting =)

I understand your sadness.

A niche i was playing with a while back did the same thing to me (Efficacy Addapters End/End). The price bottomed out leaving me with roughly 100 recipes and a solid amount listed at more than triple the new going rate.

I played the waiting game. The waiting game worked.. though it was a couple of months!

Great having so many alts!!

Currently Playing:

A bunch of toons! (Freedom, Virtue, and a few on Infinity)

Wait for it. I had prices crater on something I was flipping. I just kept buying, and had to add an extra enhancement table to store the stuff. Eventually I sold it all at close to DOUBLE what I was getting a couple months ago. Sometimes the market just goes berserk for no apparent system. Didn't Burton Malkiel write a book "A Random Walk Through Wentworth's"?

Also keep in mind that A-Merits are going to depress some prices. Four days of play can get you anything but a purple or PVP. ANYTHING. Demand will fall with less money chasing goods. Prices got to go down. But that's ok because relative purchasing power increases. Since inf doesn't depreciate the way RL currency does, those sitting on huge wallets will get more bang for the buck!

RL currency "depreciates" due to inflation. While there are many merry debates on the existence of inflation in this game, the high end stuff (eg, purp, pvp, big 3) have all gone up consistently. As little as a year ago, having 10+ billion was pretty extraordinary; nowadays, it barely gets you in the door at the Wentworths Country Club. And you don't get the good seats either.

OtoH, sitting on those (ultra) rares instead of dumping them would've made you a whole hell of a lot more money. I remember selling surplus damage purps (and I'm talking like apoc triples) for like 50~70M a year or so ago. Of course I'd bought the recipes for like 25M back then too, so it's all relative.
