Quote:Some groups can still do it in 20 minutes. Just like some individuals can solo GM's. It's just a lot harder.Well, when people ask how long a task force is, they don't expect you to include recruiting time. You can do the Cathedral trial in 20 minutes - once you get all your cats herded up.
-
You can also do it from the chat line. Log into a character that has the chat tabs the way you want and/or edit them to get them the way you want. Then type:
/chatsave
That will save the settings as the default. Then log into the character who has the problems and type:
/chatload
If you want to get fancy, you can have multiple chat set-ups or save your settings elsewhere (I save mine in a data directory that gets backed up automatically) by typing:
/chatsavefile <path and file name>
/chatloadfile <path and file name> -

Quote:Psst, you're talking nonsense.I'm pretty sure that the complaints in this thread are due to people who want to buy things cheaper to sell to someone else. Um, that defines flipper on these boards.
Psst, hey pot, kettle here: YOU'RE BLACK!
The flippers know how the market works. They don't come in here and complain about it. They USE it. -
Quote:The way the consignment house works has a lot of parallels to the stock market. Read up on what market specialists do and why liquidity is a good thing.Well...I'm not expecting miracles, just the natural price from supply and demand. I still don't get your assertion that the supply comes from flippers. Seems to me it would be there without them...just cheaper.
And that has absolutely nothing to do with flippers. You're just not getting this. If a price just goes up and up, the flippers will be nowhere near that item - BY DEFINITION. If a price just goes up and up, you can't flip it. Flippers will buy at a low price, sell at a higher one, then buy the same thing at the lower price again. You can make money if an item keeps going up, but that's a completely different market tactic and you can lose a ton if the price drops. A flipper is waiting for the price to drop. If the price doesn't fluctuate like that, the flipper moves on to something else.Quote:It's the higher end stuff that I would rather the flippers stay away from. Salvage is no problem for me. Seeing a purple recipe skyrocket over a couple hours from 25 million to 200 million doesn't endear them to me.
When a price skyrockets, it's because of sudden demand. With something like purples, it could be a single person who decided to finally purple out those toons that have been gathering dust. FYI, any time we get new powersets, you see EXACTLY that happen after a few weeks when the new toons get to 50. -
I don't think they need to change the power for everyone when anyone who has an issue with it can turn it off.
/suppressclosefx - turns effect suppression on/off based on whether the camera is closer than the distance set in the next command
/suppressclosefxdist - sets the distance for the previous command
Try these. -

I'm in, with... with.... well, a tank.
5p4rk is level 44 and Dr Dolomite is 18 and still in Praetoria. It will be the Doc if I get around to leveling him, since 5p4rk has already done this one. -

Quote:Two comments:The flipper PAID more than anyone else was willing to for the flippable item.
The flipper then LISTED it for less than anyone else was willing to.
These indisputable facts undermine all character assassinations aimed at the kindly, helpful flipper.
1) As far as I know, most of them aren't doing it to be helpful.
2) Despite the first two statements being accurate, you just KNOW that the clueless are reading your post and thinking that you're mocking them.

Quote:Entertainment value. The point still remains there is no reason to destroy influ. There is no economic reason/thought process that is valid for it. there is so much influ around that to "destroy" influ on one neiche is weird.
I still have yet to hear a valid argument for destroying influ.
There is also no valid argument for costume contests, badge collecting, or even playing a MMORPG at all.... except to have fun. And fun is entirely subjective. Personally, I think the whole inf destruction bit is silly. -
Let's rephrase that. "Isn't it awesome trying to herd 24 cats in a trial that requires people to pay attention?"
No, not really.
I've done it several times, succeeding more than failing. (Um... 3:1 I think.) It is actually hard because you need a degree of coordination and that's a lot of people to get moving in the same direction.
But it's new and the place is awesome and it has a new UI item just like the banner events add a custom UI element. -

Were you solo? Please note, the no bosses and no AV's options only apply when solo. As soon as you add a second person to the team, those settings are ignored.
Also, some missions have specific spawns that override the settings and are always bosses.
Having said that, if you're saying you were getting four bosses in one spawn, that sounds broken. -
Was it the same file both times? If so, that's odd. If not, it could just be random chance. I had a corrupt pigg file a couple weeks ago. The patcher was able to identify the problem file and replace it.

Quote:This, both parts.Yeah, he doesn't know what he's talking about. The only time you'd need WAY more than the cap is if you're facing resist debuffs... in which case... I don't even know if that helps.
Not to mention that you probably shouldn't use Unstoppable on Recluse anyway.
And if your ex-guild leader is using the words 'Unstoppable' and 'Lord Recluse' in the same sentence, he doesn't have a clue. And I HAVE tanked LR on my invuln - without using Unstoppable (and I do have it).
P.S. I do actually have Unstoppable slotted for resistance - because it gets a slot for free and I didn't have anything else I wanted to put in it. -
oooo, that's clever. I'll have to remember that for when they let existing toons go over to Praetoria.

Quote:Actually, the random number generator is much better than that description would suggest (per actual testing by Arcanaville). The purpose of the streakbreaker is to prevent streaks that are perfectly acceptable statistically, but annoying to actual players.Granted it's been a long time since I did any computer programming, so what I'm about to say may be a little dated, but I think this is probably the issue at work:
It's just a symptom of how computer random number generators work. After all, the numbers aren't truly random, but influenced by a random number "seed". As a result of how these algorithms work, computers can and often do get "stuck" in a range of numbers from time to time. This is why we have the streak breaker code. It's an attempt to limit how often and how hard this impacts the player.
So there's no intent by the Devs to cause the annoying streaks of missing we get on sometimes. It's just a limitation of computer technology they try to work around.
If you know your odds to hit are 75% and you miss 5 times in a row, many players will get annoyed. Statistically, if you play a lot, this would be guaranteed to happen frequently. But, since it would seriously irritate some people, we have the streakbreaker to prevent it.
You would be appalled by how many people would agree with the statement, "Since my odds to hit are 3 out of 4, it's impossible to miss 5 times in a row." -
Weird. I have WinAmp loaded at all times and can start/close CoH multiple times a day with no issue. I'm on Win7 Pro 64 bit. I am noticing one odd behavior from WinAmp - it won't always stay on top even though that option is checked (I play CoH in windowed mode).

Quote:I read this section and noted that you later indicated that it has been happening in all missions. The fact that it keeps happening "near the end" of this particular mission suggests to me that it might be happening at a REGULAR INTERVAL. Time it. Seriously. See if the time between mapserves is the same each time. If it is, that tells us that some hardware or software is doing something on a fixed schedule that interferes with the game.I have been farming a mission (Im not really a farmer, just a forced one) for a good 2 hours because I get near the end and I get map server connection lost and poof, Im back to the login screen.
Oh, and is your router wired or wireless? If wireless, can you connect with a cable for testing purposes? -
