    It depends on the sword you choose. an Actual Broadsword or Claymore which is Legacy is not really meant for finesse. a Rapier or Sabre is.

    When I think swords I think of Knights in Full Plate with Kite shields hacking at each other. Of course my namesake character is a "Longsword" Scrapper and I usually concider him to be more of a fniesse user with that sword.


    They both work but For the standard Stereotype it would make more sense to me to be a Brute and Tank set before a Stalker set. My first thought isn't someone wielding a Broadsword in a Dark Corner waiting to strike.

    EDIT: to be clear I am not raging against it for Stalkers. he more I think on it the more examples I can come up with. It just seems like it would be more natural for Brutes to have received them. Especally since they have been asking for it along with Tanks. to my knowledge Stalkers haven't really expressed a desire for Broadswords.

  3. You have no idea how much I would love having a Halbred for a character. I love Polearm combat.

    as for the OP. My first thought when I heard Broadsword for Stalkers was Conan the Librarian cutting the guy with overdue library books in half. Well. That was my Second thought. My First thought was why weren't they giving this to Brutes.

    This is only a taste of what is coming with Going Rogue. I think there will be plenty of other new powersets released. I personally think that they will make a Pistols Secondary where we will find all our Gun Fu and status effect options. Knee Cap would be perfect for the T1 power.

    The announcement is still to new. I fully expect to hear howls of anguish over the proliferation. Every time the topic of AT crossovers or Power Crossovers happen you have a group complaining about homogenizing the game.

    Seriously, though, to the best of my knowledge we won't be changing minimum sizes of TF's/SF's. The minimum sizes stand as "warning labels" to newer players that these missions are more difficult/time consuming/whatever than other missions. It's a small, but important function.

    EDIT: By the way, in the meeting where this feature was proposed I specifically mentioned that "Perfect Pain is going to love this change." Glad to see, at least on first glance, I was right!

    For me the ability to simulate a 4 man team in order to duo something like the Synapse TF would be the only use I have for this. I hate the artificial limits placed on those. I've still not done most of them as a result of these limits.

    The Title itself was not an admission of Content. It is just reasonable to assume that was going to be part of it.

    That's nothing. There was a story and pitcure of some guy from WoW Who had enough boxes running at once for a full Raid.

    As for the topic at hand. MM teams can be fun but not very efficient. Killing machines to be sure but somewhat chaotic.

    As for the lag...Well This is why it was important to fix the Valentines day bug 2 years ago instead of stopping a few BP from moving around and just telling people to upgrade from Dial up...

    I hate this bug. It's a minor issue ultimately since it isn't crashing servers or corrupting data, but it is highly visible, distracting and annoying.

    What's broken and why is it taking so long to fix? The key problem here is way back when, someone decided it would be a good idea to have three separate keyboard input interpreters and any changes done have to play "house of cards" game with the three. The current set of bugs began appearing a while back when we started making changes to implement the mission editor, which morphed into the Mission Architect.

    I've no doubt that it will be fixed at some point; I just wanted to basically point out that, yes, we're aware of it and yes, we are trying to fix it. It's just an enormously more complicated task that it "should" be.

    They have said that not having reliable repro steps makes this particular bug nigh-impossible to track down, so if anyone can figure out a way of making this happen 100% of the time, I'm sure those guys would name children after you or something.

    I don't think there is anything obvious about reproducing it. It's obvious to everyone it is happening. It happens alot and noone has seen a pattern yet. Including the devs and I assume QA.

    I agree it must be a [censored] to find. I know you problably can't answer this next question Babs but Why can't the powers that be look at the code back when it was working and see what changes were made between the two? It might help isolate where the problem could potentially be.

    [/ QUOTE ]The height is always recorded but previously only the Costume Creator screen was allowed to affect it. When I tested it on my male character I loaded his female equivalent saved previously and she was the right height.

    So If I go save my character at the costume store and then go over to the AE and load up my costume then the Height will be correct even if I don't buy the booster pack? Up to this point it wasn't

    Hnmm. so no world wide disaster. You have not died to the best of my knowledge. What's the big deal?

    I personally like telling people about features they didn't know about. They think it's cool they can do it and I find it fun to help people out. I could care less if they made it to level 50 and didn't understand slots. When I first started playing I didn't know I could have more than one of the same type of enhancment in a power. I thought I had to fill them with different types that it would accept. Yeah I was gimped I guess. I made it all the way to 30 before I happened to mention my confusion over the Passive resist powers. That was back when the game was actually hard too.

    Everyday I find that I can tell new players and veterans alike about features they didn't know about. Some significant. Some relatively small, such as an emote. Sometimes I get to learn new things even now. Getting to level 50 your way or their way doesn't make you some all knowing master of this game. There is alot here to do.

    I think that new players know that there is more to this game than the AE but they have been deluded by other games that you have to get to 50 before you can really play. It isn't CoH's fault they think that way nor is it the AE's fault that they do it. We have had players doing this for a long time.

    If a player gets bored they may start looking around for other things. We aren't exacly shoving them out of the tutorial and planting them directly in front of the AE console.

    They HAVE to know there is more to do than just what you see in the AE buildings. Newbies are not retards. They are just unfamiliar with the systems in a game they just started. If they stay in the AE buildings it is because they are having fun doing it. When they get bored they will come out.

    Until then. Let them be. Hell, Team up with them and take them for a few non farming AE runs if you are sooo concerned they aren't learning the game properly. Otherwise let them be. If anything the fact we have new players is a big indication that CoX s thriving regardless of what they are doing. More customers is a good thing in the business world.

    Wait, you Bosses and LTs come from different groups? You're sure that you set the Surrounding Group on the Boss Detail to be the group you want instead of the default "Same As Boss"? This is becoming more confusing that I initially thought.

    You misunderstand. I'm not talking about fighting a Boss as in an objective. I'm talking about a boss like a Bone Daddy is a Boss in the Skulls.

    When I am running this group The game is decideing I need a LT but is spawning a Boss and demoting him to LT. Either that or it's deciding I need a boss. spawning the boss then demoting him thus making the encounter less than it was supposed to be.

    Either way it sounds like a bug to me.

    To further Illustrate I'll stay with the SKulls example. Imagine you are going through a mission with a friend and You never saw any Bosses and all the LT's were Bone Daddies. That is what I'm seeing wiht my custom group.

    Considering the lower levels of that hold set usually sells for a few hundred-thousand, I'd consider it cheap. The IOs don't even need rare salvage to be made, making the cost in making it even less than those that need Hami Goo, Deific Weapon or even the lesser priced rares like the Heads Up Display.

    There is a rampant influx of those that have. In the player question system there is a post by a 50 who didn't know that the slots they kept adding to their powers were meant to hold enhancements... thats just one of many examples.

    Hi! I'm a new player (coming up on 5 weeks). Previous MMOs - lots of WoW, poked a bit at Vendetta and Sword of the New World.

    I think I've done..... 4? AE missions. They had some potential, but I can always go back to them after I've seen the regular game.

    Been mostly solo, so I haven't done any TFs, but I've been trying to hit every story arc that I can manage. (It was kind of annoying in the earlier ranges, since I had to turn off XP in order to get most of them; but now that I'm in the high 30s, there seems to be plenty of leveling space to fit all the arcs in.)

    So...... not *all* of us newbies are getting sucked into the AE farm PL'ing.

    PLing... It's not that big of a deal. People will miss out on content but if it's content they don't want to do then... *shrug*

    For a new player. It's going to be a big deal to get that first 50 on each side but once you've done it...It ceases to be a big deal. I kinda like that there is PLing out there to help people get past that first hurdle but one of the great things about CoX is most of the game takes place before you hit 50.
  20. The Current State of CoX.

    I more or less stopped playing about 9 months ago. I paid. I would log on for a few minutes here and there. Occasionally I'd play for several hours but for the most part I wasn't here because I was burnt out with CoX.

    As recent as a couple weeks ago. Just before I15 launch I started becoming very interested in CoX again and playing it every chance I get. If truth be told it was the CO Beta which drove me back. For me I've just gotten back that old joy I had when playing City. City has held my interest far longer than any MMO out there and the reasons are varied.

    None of that has really changed. WE have new systems and new shinies. but the core of why I love this game has remained intact. While I yearn for an Engine and graphical update I think the state of this game is strong still.
