Need help with a Enemy group

I'm working on an Arc featuring my Fire Dominator. His whole deal is he binds souls to him and they are forced to serve him as minions. In game this is reflected through Fire Imps and That was originally what I was wanting to use.

Obviously I can't use fire Imps as an enemy itself so I changed the story a little bit so only ones that has been bound to him for a while turn into Fire Imps. Initially they are just Burning after images of what they used to be. They all use Fire in some way.

ok That is the premise I had when making this group. What I created was 1 minions, 2 LTs, and 1 Boss. Because I want the Imps to be more prevalent than the other newer creations I gave the minions and Lts the ability to summon Fire Imps in addition to just leaving the other stuff at easy. The Boss is set at Hard but doesn't have Fire imps.

Here is my problem. I wanted to test this to see if I needed to tweak how many of these critters could summon fire imps. I didn't want it to be completely overwhelming. Just challenging. So I grabbed a friend and ran a test mission. Not a single thing used Fire imps. Not even the EB version of my Dominator who was set to extreme/extreme used it. Additionally the Boss character was spawning as a LT. This seemed odd since there was two of us and usually Bosses will spawn. I only saw one real LT the whole mission but these LT versions of my Boss were everywhere.

So my problem is two fold. How do I get these things to spawn the imps and How do I get the Boss to spawn right?

You two were at least level 32, right? If the critters in the mission are not at least 32 during the playthrough then no imps.

ah...That scenerio ran through my head last night but I dismissed it since there are fire imps at low levels through temp powers. Ill just set ther level for 32 then.


Any thoughts on the other problem or is that just normal AE wonkyness?

I'll confirm that when you duo on Heroic in MA, you will get LTs instead of bosses, EBs will be Bosses, and AVs will be EBs without their Purple Triangles. The rules for difficulty in MA are not quite the same as in regular missions.

Only on Heroic in MA. I don't know if it happens to stock AVs but it does to custom AVs.

Well. I guess we are looking at a bug then. I'm not upset that it is spawning LT's but I want it to spawn Lts from the Lt Pool not the Boss Pool.

I would suggest a few workarounds:
-First of all, find a difficulty setting that works. In this case, I have a feeling that's going to have to be invince/relent for a solo run. Once you do this, place specific instructions that this arc is best run at this difficulty.
-Secondly, with some careful tweaking, you can keep too many bosses from spawning at the higher difficulty. Make your custom mobs only consist of LT's and Minions. To make the bosses appear to spawn randomly throughout the mission, place a few defeat a boss objectives (make them non-required), and place a boss with the custom lt/minion group surrounding him.
-Of course, you'll place another boss in the back for your big fight. Same custom group of lt's/minions (or is he tough enough to fight by himself?)

As for fire imps, you can approximate them if you tinker around a bit in the costume designer. Another mild workaround.

Wait, you Bosses and LTs come from different groups? You're sure that you set the Surrounding Group on the Boss Detail to be the group you want instead of the default "Same As Boss"? This is becoming more confusing that I initially thought.

Wait, you Bosses and LTs come from different groups? You're sure that you set the Surrounding Group on the Boss Detail to be the group you want instead of the default "Same As Boss"? This is becoming more confusing that I initially thought.

You misunderstand. I'm not talking about fighting a Boss as in an objective. I'm talking about a boss like a Bone Daddy is a Boss in the Skulls.

When I am running this group The game is decideing I need a LT but is spawning a Boss and demoting him to LT. Either that or it's deciding I need a boss. spawning the boss then demoting him thus making the encounter less than it was supposed to be.

Either way it sounds like a bug to me.

To further Illustrate I'll stay with the SKulls example. Imagine you are going through a mission with a friend and You never saw any Bosses and all the LT's were Bone Daddies. That is what I'm seeing wiht my custom group.

The boss demoted to lieutenant sounds exactly like you're running your mission on Heroic. Try upping the difficulty.

He already knows that, he's describing that the regular LTs are not spawning at all, they're all being replaced with LT versions of Bone Daddies, which is not normal behavior.

I wonder if it's related to that annoying spawning bug we've had for weeks now where randomly a mission will decide that every spawn has to have a boss in it no matter what.
