You didn't ask what I was the build about. By another thread losing GFS for Scorch means a dip in 10 DPS. Annoying, but not world shaking. On the other hand BoF hits 3-4 mobs quite easily which makes up for the ST DPS loss on the long run since I don't fight AVs as a rule but rather big spawns.
Which isn't to say it can't be shifted out later, depends on how the whole thing come out once I actually have it set up and running. That's what respecs are for anyway. -
Ok, here's my own request in a more formal manner:
FM/SD with softcap, Hasten, CJ and Aid-Self.
Build objective : fit two Fire Sword Circle in one BU.
No purples or PvP IOs.

So far I've managed this, but no CJ, and I look longingly at GFS but BoF is just too useful IMO despite the general hissing done at it. if I eventually get hooked by the character I might try to farm my way to a PvP IO which will open up wiggle room in the slotting, but that's far, far off.
P.S. The powers are still taken at random levels, I've not cleant the build in that aspect yet. -
The boss demoted to lieutenant sounds exactly like you're running your mission on Heroic. Try upping the difficulty.
-
That would be a dream being able to put all the powers in *and* have hasten *and* aid-self *and* be softcapped ^^
Still, I got the attack chain right for the boss farm and can take 5-6 at a time (only +1 though). SL - SM - SL - SM. I really feel DM/SD spoiled me for scrappers much like my Archer spoiled me for blasters. -
Actually, I just took the DM/SD on a spin versus a +1 all boss mission. Died once because I got three spawns, but one spawn at a time (five PP bosses) is certainly doable.
After seeing SM rage for 650 damage I'm just left wondering if FM can really keep up. Sure FSC hits 10 with no need of positioning, but it also recharges in around 7 seconds instead of the 3 SM needs.
I think my real goal with a FM/SD would be able to squeeze two FSC in one BU. Something like FSC - SC - Incinerate - FSC. Even a boss would be left gasping after that IMO. -
I can put a word for DM/SD farming the Cim walls stupid fast.
Bounce in, wait a few seconds for them to bunch up, Soul Drain, Shield Charge, MG + SL the surviving lieut. Very quickly bounce to the next spawn, MG the surgeon (dead usually) and start going to town with SM. I usually SM - MG - SM and kill the second spawn before SD has run its course which leaves me just in time to run to the next spawn and do it all over.
Sweet as it is (and my all time favorite baby) I'm tempted by a FM/SD and see if it gets even higher there in the damage, but having no luck in fitting aid-self + hasten + CJ and still softcap. -
This is what I have so far. The powers and slots are taken at random and it's a level 50 build.
I had to lose GFS (boo!) though I read somewhere that due to its lenghty animation the actual DPS loss isn't that severe. Still.. I liked the big chunk of HP it took on my FM/WP.
I suppose I could take out FA instead but I quite like having it around against the ocasional PvP with friends/debuffers/enemies with high defense.

I have a DM/SD softcapped, lovely damage, lovely in-built heal, lovely endurance recovery in DC... DM is just my favorite, period.
I was checking a FM/SD build, something that promised to have even better damage (burst, not sustained. Even in that DM still wins with its 30 second BU power that can be made to recharge in 36-37 seconds) and AoE, but damned if I didn't recall why I never got around to do it before.
It's either keep CJ + SJ and with those two carrying Zephyrs I can softcap myself, but end up without a self-heal. Or I remove CJ and get Aid-Self and I find myself down there.
Of course if I was willing to spend 500 million on a PvP IO I'd get pretty close, but that would be more than the whole build would cost for one enhance.
It doesn't help that I get goosebumps just looking at ToD's numbers.
Any of you veterans out there figured a decent way to get a FM/SD that still has Hasten, Aid-Self and soft-capped defenses? -
A bit of a side-track, but doesn't Claws seem to have the best of both worlds right now? I was surprised that even with just SOs I can chain FU - Eviscerate - Spin without a gap (as long as hasten's up).
And when facing bosses/AVs Claws seems to be the set prefered for the job as well.
Granted that Spines is still the best for AoE because of the extra cone in Throw Spines and a damage aura, Spine Burst also has a bigger range than Spin, but I don't see them gelding as well as that simple chain mentioned above, not to mention the perma 75% damage from double stacked FU opposed to the 100% every 30 odd seconds.
Makes me think a claws/dark or fire would be something to try, though I like my characters tough as nails, to be the ones still up even after the tank has gone down and neither fire or dark (seem to) fill that purpose. -
Doctored Wounds does the job, and grants the last 5% recharge bonus as well. I rarely need Transfusion to begin with and when I do I've had no complaints about hitting with it. Though I don't +4 ever if I can avoid it as well.
-
I went for capped S/L defense, but I've no real complaints about the build.
I wouldn't advise to gimp your damage slotting, if you're soloing there will be quite a few times in which you will not be damage capped with FS (keep in mind if you have 95% from enhances you only need 205% from FS to be capped), in the same vein I'd keep Siphon Power, but also because it's useful against AVs if you ever play a TF.
Fissure does less damage than fireball but it recharges nearly twice as fast, so meh. Of course fire is less resisted, etc, etc.

Well, to be completly honest neither OG or CoF really grab me. Like I said they don't touch lieutenants and above and minions, well, I never considered them much of a threat.
Of course with the all lieutenant/boss missions this is even truer. That's why I was leaning towards SR. The loss of damage is present but the survivability of a softcapped build can't be denied, whereas DA seems to rely on good ol' PvE content, AKA spawns with 5-6 minions and 2-3 lieutenants, and then OG or CoF taking the minions out of the equation.
I mostly noticed this when running a ITF with a friend who had a katana/DA scrapper and he died.. so often... It was embarassing because I was the tank at the time.
But the ITF's chockful of bosses who ignored his mezzing and did lots of PBAoE, the minions were mostly ignoring his OG due to their native resistance + all the Shouts and obviously his resistances didn't keep up with his agro. Granted, he's not a min-maxer and it's a old character so I severely doubt he's well slotted.
But, since it no longer takes 2-3 months to reach 50 and as much time to slot a character decently I'm all willing to give Spines/DA another try and see how it comes out. Right now I'm really enjoying the double damage auras.. which is good because Impale and Lunge don't really do much yet -
I did roll a spines/DA and will give it a go, it's not like in the old days where it would take two months to reach 50.
I feel like giving a resistance set a try, a bit deeper try since I always give up around mid twenties, because in my (low) experience it's always jump in, health dips, hit the heal, keep hitting, health dips, heal hasn't recharged yet.
The auras and Spines seems a bit counter productive though. We're supposed to be in the middle of the spawn but with the cones we're also supposed to be jumping in and out.
I'm half way with the stun/fear auras, mostly because they do not affect lieutenants and I never felt minions to be a problem (I can't really think many minions would survive a Spines alpha anyway), but CoF seems to grab me more than OG despite OG's low cost. -
I'm not an expert, but having one of that combo at 50 (a tank though) I'll give my opinion on the build.
The Aegis psioninc resist? It doesn't do much of anything IMO.
You went for a lot of melee/ranged defense but.. not enough. Set bonuses are something that is either done all the way or not at all because by themselves the numbers are too little.
You're WP but you've sorely neglected your main strength : HP and regen.
Siphon Life is one of your big hitters and you've neglected recharge/damage in it.
You have Stealth.. for no particular reason (game-wise). The defense it grants is halved when you attack (and you're not really built for defense) which leads me to think you're after being invisible with super-speed. A +stealth unique in SS does the same trick and saves you a power pick.
I see you really tried to work a lot of defense in your build but, IMO, you went at it the wrong way. Your shields give Smash/Lethal defense and working towards it would be more obvious and easier to raise. S/L is the most common damage type and you'll find part of it incorporated in many fire, energy ice or even negative attacks, which your S/L defense would negate completly.
Anyway, as a WPer your strength is really in HP and regen. I'll toss in a build I made for a friend, hardly perfect but with MA cash making isn't that hard, again IMO. If nothing else it'll show what I mean and maybe give some ideas.

For those who don't know my posting style I tend to do it more like a chat than a hard need for numbers, sometimes I have questions or ideas and I like to hear other people's opinions, so I'm long winded.
For the TL;DR crowd : softcapped SR with enough recharge that Hasten has a 3 second gap against DA's damage aura and DR.
I'm after testing some builds what with the faster leveling MA grants, and I realised I never brought a Spines/DA beyond level 20 (a much death filled trip to level 20 I might add, much more than any other character).
I'm not a fan of resists, being always hit doesn't attract me especially when I get a couple of bosses in a spawn which means even if I'm not being by 600 damage, but rather for 300 it's still 300 every few seconds.
I'm more of a defense fan and in my limited experience (WP being the only partially resist set I played) defense survives better.
So, here I was testing a spines SR build and it's pretty softcap standard until I boggle at the fact hasten was coming up with a 3 second gap. That's a lot of recharge that somehow got in the build. But it's so tight I have no travel power and no CJ so I have to remove the Fighting pool altogether and juggle bonuses back to softcappedness (losing Weave and the +3 def unique was a blow).
Then I messed with DA.
Since I always play defense playing something different would be interesting, I thought. I whip a quick build, around 50% resist to S/L, around 40% to the rest, Dark Regeneration up every 10 seconds with that +end unique in it.
But all the cries about how that combo is hard on the endurance tells me that I will have to whip something else a lot more endurance friendly (incidently losing recharge and resists, I'm sure).
Having a in-built uber heal would be nice, so would be having a second damage aura, but comparing both I'm left thinking if all that recharge in SR doesn't make up for the damage aura while Aid Self and softcapped defense doesn't make it more survivable. -
I cooked this for a friend. It's purposefully not that expensive (barring the uniques) since I told her to pick the enhances at around level 40 which is when they are cheaper than level 50 without losing much in the way of %.
It's not a uber build by any means but it was fitting since it was her first scrapper and I wanted something that would survive well and be cheap-ish.
P.S. Well, I find numinas to be much cheaper after MA, and money to be easier to make as well.

No BS at all? Damn, if even the pros haven't managed I see it's a lost cause. I'm enjoying my BS/SD crunch power but endurance is truly a pain so I don't see it lasting for 10-15 minutes without insps.
-
Now I even got the pop-up in French :>
-
That's.. a good point actually. I know the +regen from the numinas requires the power to be activated every 2 minutes, but the steadfast has no such wording in its power (that I have noticed).
-
A second build eschewing the Fighting pool.
It implies the usage of the PvP +3% defense IO and me having enough patience to get that myriad of LoTGs +recharge. If I get that far I can also squeeze in purples, though at 100 mill each I doubt I'd have the patience to fully slot the toon.

.. I enter anyway? Odd bug.
I click on the contact, click on the portal and as I do the animation of entering it I get the pop-up 'You can't enter the mission'. I once even got 'You're already in a taskforce'.
P.S. Exact wording might be off. -
Yup yup, thanks again ^^ I'm more used to tinkering with the defense side of things than with the offense. The prices of purples and a raging altitis also makes me choose cheaper builds since nothing tends to grab me for long once 50.
-
I found that the interrupt is good to squeeze in an AS while in the middle of auto-hit dots like caltrops, or the fire grenades from the Cimerorean Engineers.
You have some good points though, and I had completly forgotten about the new PvP IOs, though last I checked the +3% def was going for 300-400 mill. Still, something to look for I reckon.
Thanks for the tips. -
..but which I'm not happy about. Not enough recharge in it, and the ToD in Hack just murderise the power (crummy % from slotting the full set, yuck).
That's, unfortunatly, the same reaction I had from slotting my DM/SD, to have all the defense bonuses we need to give up something, I don't even have much room for purples because, yes, I need the sets -_-
Well, and because I want Aid-Self/Hasten. Without Aid-Self/Hasten I would have one free pool from which I could've put CJ which coupled with the Zephyr would've been a large chunk of defense freeing me from juggling so many bonuses.
Anyway, here's the build, any tips on how to improve it? The attack chain will be from hell I think, gaps here and there but I can't really see how to improve it further while keeping (near) softcapped to all.
