Intentionally passing yourself off as something you're not can be harmful and damaging to those around you. Not all Roleplaying is healthy, some of it is downright wrong.

This reminds me of a story I heard someone tell me about in Everquest:

A girl in the guild was friends with everyone. She was a bit of a drama queen and a flirt. When she had an issue with her boyfriend she would confide in guild mates and such. Talk about her life as anyone casually does in a guild to those they are friends with. One day she decided to quit and told everybody they had a confession before they cancelled their sub, that they were actually a guy and they didn't feel right leaving without making it known who they really were. Needless to say, all the guys she had flirted with in the guild felt rather disgusted...

Roleplaying is one thing, passing yourself off as something you're not with the intent of deception is wrong imo.

I have no qualms with shutting down my process in a bad group. Getting out of the mission and never having to deal with them again is a boon in my book.

I'm pretty sure shutting down the process has no logout timer but I've never tested it.

The first misisons I lackeyed her on were Black Scorpion Story missions and she loved those.

I hate to say it but last night [u]I[u] was the bad team leader.

I had lackeyed a new found friend from 8 to 43 in grandville for company and to chat etc. The first few went fine. The last newspaper though, OMG. There were 4 Titan Mechs in one room, two were bosses, 2 gunslingers and several minions. No sooner did I say, 'Don't cast anything' that they aggroed and I don't mean small aggro. I mean everything hit us at once. My bots were dead I was munching respites, I was hauling [censored] to the door and before I could say 'Run' she had faceplanted. Eventually through a series of pull and run tactics, I slowly get the mnions and one of the mechs taken down. While fighting the gunslingers, one of the bosses aggro which pulled one of the other mechs, which again led to a bot wipe and my buddy had just awakened and ran down the elevator with me... This time the mech followed down the elevator and bam... bots down, she faceplanted and I'm going WTF!!!

Eventually we get everything killed but man she ended up dying 3 times and typically missions aren't this exasperating; all I can say is those Titan Mechs are nasty. Of course I apologized for getting her killed and she didn't seem to think much of it considering how much of a pita the mission was but I still felt bad. Typically if I die that much with someone I quit the team and never look back. She evidently is more patient than I am.

I've only grouped with a few people so far but what I've found is that once I hit 40, all the lowbies that see me think its my obligation to give them a free ride for however many levels they are too lazy to play themselves.

The other day one guy sat there for like 30 mins whispering to me: can you help me get to 14? I need to get to 14 help me? Will you help me get to 14? Why aren't you answering me will you help me get to 14? etc

The other day I mal'd to someone who claimed they wanted help on a Mayhem. Well the mayhem was like 8 or so and frankly pre 20 is a pita and I hate reverting to those lvls. At any rate the guy goes afk, I die mid fight. After being teleported to a cell I break my way out and defeat all the guards, meanwhile the guy invites someone else to team to finish the mission and didn't even bother helping me get back out to help with the mission. I quit on the spot.

When I was lvl 24, some lowbie asked me to help with a mission. After travelling across the zone to the mission, once we get in they promply say, gtg see ya... and log... thx for wasting my time.

These aren't overly bad but examples of why I solo.

On the rare occasion that I have to verify files it takes maybe 60 seconds, so I really doubt you have to wait 20 minutes. Even if it somehow takes 20 minutes(or even 10 minutes) then there is something seriously wrong with your computer.

If this is the case then a drive check and defrag is normally all thats needed. Unless theres bad sectors or physical disk damage then that normally fixes these sorts of problems.

Skydrive is what I use. Any hotmail or live email account gets free skydrive space. Its where I've started hosting all my files from since I no longer have a web domain.

I can't host html files but I can still host stuff for download and hotlinking.

I don't really have any finishing moves. My main attack is Air Superiority to suppress enemies from attacking while bodyguarding. Then I just let my Bots do the damage while shooting off challenge and provoke to keep the aggro between superiority.

I'm always doing something in combat, whether its holding aggro, using force bolt to knock something back, using detention field to hold a strong foe while i weed out the weak ones.... Maybe what my bots prefer to use is a more applicable question.

I'm kind of surprised after the last two nights. My first experiences with this community were nothing but nice. As I read more posts in a broader range than just the player questions section I see that this player base is just as jaded and prone to class bias as every other mmo.

You don't know my playstyle to really have an opinion on whether you would be thankful I solo or not

Me being thankful I solo so I can stay out of the middle of some argument that seems pointless has no bearing on whether you should be thankful I choose to solo or not.

So far all I see this being is a flamefest about archetype prejudices, what should and shouldn't be done and who should and shouldn't be allowed in group to play as they wish. So with these mentalities abound I'm glad I've been solo.

After reading all the replies, all I can say is...

I actually had a similar experience in another game so I know exactly where you're coming from. It resulted from a friendship breaking and the person stalked me for a long time to insult and try to belittle me for a few months after, which did result in me quitting the game for a while.

So you petition a GM, they find the ip address(es) of the offender and prevent them from futher harrassment. They would also most probably issue a new Global for this sort of case.

Honestly, I've never seen an MMO forum where people aren't saying this.

It happens, code isn't perfect, programmers aren't perfect, no game is perfect. There are far worse bugs that persist in everquest for its entire longevity than I've seen in COH.

Also, in game development the content development teams are often separate from the debug and coding teams and usually have nothing to do with one another as far as priority of implementation goes; so both can easily be done and usually is.

For my Battle Drones, I've slotted two, because they are two levels below me. My assault bot and my other powers I've only slotted one. Like others have said, I think it depends on what you're fighting. On Challenge 3, I definitely want my battle drones to be able to hit something more than half of the time.

It sounds like the OP is going to give it another try, with the low level WoW game in mind.

My big piece of advice for the OP (aside from what I've already given), is get into a Safeguard / Mayhem mission at level 5 or 6 with a vet (to insure success, be sure the vet goes over the strategy with you before going in, if they can't describe their plan in relatively simple terms, get another vet ), get that Raptor Pack, and spend some time flying around. If that doesn't sell you, probably nothing will.

Thats is one of the points I was trying to make. If you compare WoW trial with COH trial then thats fair. If you compare WoW lvl Cap with COH Lvl Cap thats fair as well. However, you cannot compare pre 20 COH with lvl 70+ WoW. Its not fair.

Like I was saying, after playing 40+, I hate reverting to pre 20 Mal or Ouroboros... it is so frustrating.
