Quote:And they are still being punished...you realize the reason they nerfed fire tanks so badly in the first 6 issues was because they were the best p.lersfarmers in the game right?
My shield/fire is much better than my fire/ice, by far. For farming... fire/shield scrapper though. -
no need for Icicles unless you want the extra damage over time.
no need for taunt, but it does help late game with AV's and such.
I do not have Icicles or Taunt on my Ice/Stone and I have never felt like I needed them. -
How will the epic power pools/villain patron pools work for toons that change sides and/or stay in the gray area? by Cybernaut1
[Castle] A character who switches sides completely will retain their current Ancillary / Patron Powers until they respec. At which point, they will be forced to select from their "current" alignment. Heroes and Vigilantes count toward "Heroes". Villains and Rogue count toward "Villains".
Finally, I will be able to get an AoE immob on my fire/ice tank... I am thinking Web Grenade for the -fly. -
sounds good too, but it is one of the things that was asked for before Frozen Aura was given damage. I doubt it would happen, but you could always hope.
I found the best slotting for Frost, when you hit 47-50, is 3 Dam/Range HO's, two Taunt acc/rech, and a taunt Rech (set bonus) -
The highest I have deleted so far was a lvl 36 elec/elec blaster after ED. It could not drain endurance and did crap damage compared to other blasters. It lives on Test server for now.

Makes me wonder if he is talking about a brute. If you are getting around fine without TP with Rooted, then you may not need TP.
Look into Gift of the Ancients +runspeed defense IO. -
My Stone/Fire tank is great. I leveled to 50 with Air Sup and Fly for travel. I used +run speed IO's and bonuses to great effect. IIRC it is at 26mph in Granite. I did just fine without Teleport.
Also, because of the way I planned the IO's, I also took Tough and Weave. Not for when I was in Granite, but when I was on smaller teams and Granite was not needed. It has 39% S/L and 38% E/N defense when not in Granite.
I could have gotten the defense higher, but at the cost of run speed or recharge, which is at 67% (without Hasten in the build) . Regen, with Rooted is 540%, and without is 345%.
Now though, since I have the 60 month Vet reward, I respec'd into teleport. I dont have to have Recall Friend or Teleport Foe. I also, with Ninja Run and Sprint, have a 66mph run speed.
NR/Sprint for non-combat travel and Teleport for combat travel. On an ITF, it has been pinned in by around 14 of the Roman bosses, which prohibited it from moving, which also made me want to respec into TP. I made it to 50 without it, and it can be done. (I have two lvl 50 Stone/Fire tanks which I got to 50 without TP, the second one is on a deactivated account.) -
Take care Pep. I feed my Pingu everyday. Sometimes she feeds me too.

I am already burning the free respecs on toons. They announced a free respec with I17 so use them if you have them.

If you value endurance this will not be fore you.
Stone has nice single target attacks, and Fault is awesome. With enough recharge you can get a good single target attack chain using Seismic Smash often.
Dark armor is probably not the best route to go. Maybe use an earth themed costume to cover that aspect since you don't want Stone armor.
Willpower for the endurance issues or Shield for the added damage and Shield Charge.
I have an Ice/Stone, which could be counted as a scranker, but it is just an awesome tank with really good recharge. It can use Seismic Smash twice in one Build-Up duration. I know Ice isnt what you were looking for, but you can get the same recharge from Shield and possible from WP. -
Quote:People think things should be given to them and have ZERO clue about economics and how it really works. The sheeple think everybody should all have the exact same thing and do not understand that life is not fair. You realize that right now people do multiple trades of 2 billion off the market for certain IOs, right? If they can trust the other side to not to rip them off for 6 billion over the course of the several minutes it takes to coordinate all those clicks in the trade window, market window, and send the appropriate tells, why are they suddenly going to worry about what amounts to pocket change for them?
Edit: I see I got some negative rep because I didn't jump on the "Price controls are good!" bandwagon. I hate to be that guy that links wikipedia, but, really, it's pretty easy to look up the real-world effects of imposing price ceilings on goods and services: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_ceiling -
Quote:Agreed. I ran a blaster with Tough on test server just to try it out... It made a difference of about ten points of damage with the crey he was fighting. Not even close to worth taking as a blaster. I have it on scrappers and tanks only.Maybe yes. But at least for Tough, given the way it works now, there's almost no point in taking it at its current values unless you are starting from a fairly high level of resistance for it to add to. Weave does a bit more out of the box, but given an XOR choice most non-melees would be better off with Maneuvers. Bottom line is, there's really no motive for people who aren't scrappers or tankers to take either.
A sonic bubbler might benefit from it with an epic armor, but even then I think it would be a waste of endurance. -
Quote:Sounds like a new Epic power set then...Unlikely. The 3 attacks that we have now for MM's took up far too much time in terms of development and, while we could likely reduce that somewhat now that we know what we are doing, it would also require 3-4 more animations to be made.
So, while I'm not saying "Never" the odds are against it. -
Quote:I liked my Shield/Ice. It was on my second account, which I deactivated though. AAO adds nicely to the damage in a consistent manner, unlike Fiery Embrace. Grouping the spawn and using Frost helps too. Shield Charge... it really is that nice. I may at some point roll another Shield/Ice if I get some free time to play again. So if they leave Ice Melee as it is, what does it work well with ?
And why ?
The long animation and medium damage from GIS is helped some by AAO, but bosses are still painfully slow. If the animation was shortened, even keeping the horrid damage, it would help. I dont use it often because I would rather use Frost if there is more than one enemy left. If it was given a small cone, such as Cleave, Shatter, or Head Splitter, then I would use GIS more. As it is now, GIS is an attack that holds Kinetic Combat just like brawl. (GIS does have two Pounding Slugfest as well)
Front loading the damage on Frost and Frozen Touch would be nice, though I dont see that change coming.
I would like an alternate animation/graphic for the the two swords though. With Frost and Frozen Touch not having weapons, seeing the GIS used doesnt mesh well with the other attacks now. Just my personal opinion on that and with as little as I use GIS. it is not a big deal. -
Quote:Against All Odds and Shield Charge are better than Fiery Embrace and Burn easily. (I have my opinion on what FE and Burn should be modified to to make Fire the offensive set again, but as it stands now, Shield is much better at that role.)Did Fiery Embrace really used to have a 30 second duration? I don't remember that at all! Man, that makes me even sadder about Fiery Embrace.
Poor Fiery Aura still feels like it's been kicked around for the old farming days.
Sure, it's a solid set, but Fiery Embrace and Burn still make me a little sad.
The 30 second duration was for Fire damage only. It was 10 seconds for all others. -
Quote:My invuln scrapper was hit very hard, and so much that I stopped playing it until IO's. It sat at lvl 36 for a very long time and was nearly deleted on many occasions. The ONLY reason I didnt delete it is because of the Celebrant badge.Days before ED struck I was a bit worried about how things would be but then on the day of ED I Invuln tanked a lvl 52 Neuron for a team and no one was defeated throughout that evening and I have never looked back since. The game did get slightly more challenging but not impossible to play.

I dont have the patience to look at my old fire armor and ice melee posts. There are a couple I would like to find though.

Quote:A kinetic Brute is the only thing I could get a concept for so far. I cant think of an armor set for tank or scrapper I want to do.I'll admit, I had a bit of cognitive dissonance when it came to Brutes and this set. I figured, though, that it was better to give it to them now rather than hear a bunch of complaints of "Why don't Brutes get this?" or "Why are Brutes the only base AT to not get a new Powerset with Going Rogue?"
That said, people are creative. I'm sure they can come up with rationals to make it fit.
I am thinking Kin/Nrg or Kin/WP. -
Transfusion / siphon life
Transference / dark consumption
fulcrum shift/ souldrain
siphon power/ I dont see a single target in the works, but dual pistols does have a single target -resist for lethal
siphon speed/ combos, the more hit, the faster you become
i really hope NO hand clap type power... but I can see how it would fit.
I see a kin/nrg brute in my future me thinks. I dont know what tank set I would pair with it.
I am looking forward to seeing what the set is. I am sure I am way off with my thinking. -
remember how long it took to go from 49 to 50. It will be longer for the incarnate levels I am sure.
I hope they get a really good single target attack so when I play my fire/ice tank again i wont rely on an immob/burn to defeat things.
I am glad I closed my second account now. With the added time sink and my lack of time, incarnate levels for me will be a luxury.
I am looking forward to new content... and electrical control. And what tank can I make with kinetic melee... I guess it will have to be a brute. -
I want alternate animations for the Swords. With Frost, Frozen Aura, and Freezing Touch, I really dont like seeing GIS. I dont use it anyway because the damage is pitiful.
GIS still needs to be buffed. The slow animation time is horrible for the small amount of damage.
