It's always possible I could pull a last-minute trip out. But I'd have to have an absolute butt-ton of my consultancy money come in from clients in the next week or two.

If this happens, I'd be able to afford the extortionate airline prices to get out there. Pulling a room at the hotel might be tougher though (not from a monetary standpoint).
  3. Heh. I just tried to figure up how many hours I've put into this game since I started 15 months ago.

Came up with something like 1400 hours (average of about 3 hours a day, though I didn't play every day, I've had some marathon sessions that more than balance).

The equivalent time invested in going out to see movies would have cost me over $7000. Not only that, it wouldn't account for the "I want 2 hours of my life AND my money back" stinker factor either.

Now, I get home from work, I'm not happy, I log on and go mash someone's face.

Exactly when is "nighttime" for you? Also, having gone over and actually played on Freedom in the last week or so, I'll admit the market locations were not as busy as before the issue dropped. But there's still people there. And, depending on time of day, some of the WW/BM are downright lagfests. Still.

I call male cow feces. In the last two weeks I've started approximately eight characters. One on Protector, two on Freedom, two on Guardian, and two on Virtue.

All of them are now level five and over.
2/3 of them are over level 10.
Three of them are in their mid-teens.
Two of them are even level-pacted and still in their teens.

Buy low. Sell high. However, you DO need to put some effort into scoping out a few market niches to operate in. This is not fast.

Your best bet is to take one of your alts and purposefully convert it into a marketing toon. You know, maximize on-person storage for salvage (high level, some marketing badges, and the Vanguard satchel), and recipies (at LEAST get the crafting badges that increase your storage capacity, but think about getting Field Crafter to minimize time spent running to a crafting table, as well as minimizing expenditures for crafting commons).

You have to stop that. I know it's difficult. I'm at LEAST as impatient as you are. And, when I have a huge chunk of change, it's difficult to keep it from burning a hole in my super-suit.

Again, patience. And take some time to read through the backlog of posts in the marketing forum. There's a wealth of knowledge there and you can make yourself stupidly rich with a bit of perserverence.

If the prospective buyer will not at least meet the minimum bid, there is no sale.

No. Actually I'm right. The buyer has to be willing to PAY the amount asked for. If not, there's no sale, and the seller has one of his market slots taken up.
  8. Said it before, I'll say it again.

    IOs are a LUXURY.
Sets are an even BIGGER luxury.

*Paraphrase* "Have a vendor who sells all recipies at a fixed price."

There IS a vendor that sells most (not all) IOs at a fixed price.
    The Merit Vendor.

You can get almost any IO in the game (save Purples and a couple event-specific sets) from them. And more, you can get them at any level you want (and are eligible for).

And, as I have ALSO noted before, the seller isn't the one who determines the sale price of an item. The buyer is.

Yeah, if you watch your defense numbers in a quickly shifting mob, you'll seem them jumping around like a frog on a hotplate.

That's normal for Inv/* toons. Really sucks when you have a bunch of running buffers in the enemy group (Tsoo sorcerors, etc).
  13. This is why I don't RP.

I used to think *I* was creepy.

Some of the people I've met during attempts at RP in online games (and Live Role-Playing) make me look like a piker.

Just thinking about it gives me the collywobbles.

  14. Is there a way to do this? I'm not always the most precise with my mousing and sometimes it's faster to manually click stuff. Yet, every now and again, it rotates my tray (forward, back). I then have to try to recover it, usually dying in the thick of combat because of it.

Is there a way to keep the trays from flipping to another one?

This is simply proof that you don't know what the hell you're talking about and need to shut up and think through the situation without the excessive greed and envy currently infecting your "thought" process.

I've been playing over a year. In that time I've had four (COUNT EM) purple drops in total. All of them in Issue 12. On all of my characters, I have exactly 17 purples (all on my main's primary build).

    How?

Some were bought with the inf generated from the purples I had dropped but couldn't use.

Some were bought with inf generated from marketing.

Some were bought with inf generated from farming, as well as regular play.

In reality, the ones I didn't get as drops and slot were all actually bought with money from a combination of all three of the above things.

In other words, I WORKED FOR THEM.

Again, YOU are the one setting the price (why it's an AUCTION house), not the seller.

So kindly take your accusations of being an RMT'er and cram them, man up, and let go of the ill disguised envy.

    QUOTE]

If they were blind when they drop, and you can then choose what they are when you slot them, then the rare drops would be useful, since you would not have to worry about whcih one's dropped. You could then have a set, be it rare and hard, that would work for you without having to sell your life to the game.

Making them non-transferable would be the key.
    No.

If I get a purple I can't/don't want to use on one alt (it's happened), I want to be able to either move it to an alt who needs it, store it for later, or possibly sell it. Making it non-transferrable essentially makes it junk.

Moreover, think about it. If it's non-transferrable, you can't buy one off the market then. You have to farm your....butt....off in the hopes that you get ONE. There are people who've been playing here YEARS who've only ever dropped one or two purples.

    RANDOM ROLL MEANS RANDOM.

Price capping will not do anything.

The people setting the prices for purples are the BUYERS. Not the people selling.

Again, you do NOT need Purples. Make do with other things.

Wanting luxuries is not the same thing as "needing" them.

So work for them and stop crying about something you yourself have a hand in.

They ARE attainable. You just have to work for them. HARD.

There is a reason they are called "ultra rare".

If everyone had them, they wouldn't be "ultra rare". They'd be "common".

Also, on an End-hungry build, they're not always the best bet. They're good for their primary purpose (damage, hold, etc), then Recharge, then Acc. There's pretty much NO end reducers in them. As such, there are other sets out there that are a MUCH better fit for many. And sometimes the benefits are better than capped damage and stupid-high recharge.

    You do NOT need Purples.
    You do NOT need Sets.
    You do NOT need IOs.

They are NOT necessities. They are LUXURIES. If you want luxuries, you either work hard for them, or work hard to have the money to PAY for them.

Simply because this is a virtual world doesn't mean it is THAT much different from real life.

  25. Hold on guys.

It's what? 2-3 days after the issue release?

A lot of the farmers are doing what you're doing right now. Rolling new, respec'ing, playing in the costume editor. Also, some of them are seeing how, exactly, their farms are "broken", and looking to optimize for their new set of parameters.

Also, some of them are off BY THEMSELVES farming now on +4x8.

Methinks reports of AE's death have been grossly exaggerated.
