I certainly did, I have herded 300-600 wolves, preatorians, you name it into dumpsters for the 1 'Nova' it took to splat them into oblivion and it only took me 1 or 2 missions like that to realize that its bad for the long term lookout on the game and guess what, I was right that activity was nerfed just like every other bad for the game activity going forward from that point.

LOL not if you don't have a decent build. Farming is just one part of an overall strategy to get that build.
[/ QUOTE ]
You can get a good build without farming. I have never farmed and I've done most of what you've stated as being "extreme content". I always run on challenge level 4/5 with all my characters (and I have alot). I solo AVs on my 50s all the time.
Farming is an UNNECESSARY part of an overall strategy to get a decent build. You can get a decent build WITHOUT farming quite easily.
The statement that nothing in this game requires farming to accomplish is still absolutely true.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes because you say so. We haven't had a thousand threads saying things are too pricey at the market. That the good stuff isn't available, that casual players can't get a good build, etc etc etc. Nope none of that ever happened.
[/ QUOTE ]
As an example of 1, I don't farm and yet I have every purple that I have ever wanted. I have multiple heroes with purple sets and my main hero has 3 full sets. -
Proof? Be serious, Its all around you in multiple forms. You don't really need me to point it out to you?

It's interesting to me that there is no anti-farming faction in this argument; there is only an anti-AE-farming faction. The most vocal of this faction have stipulated that they don't consider farming bad or inherently exploitative.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's because most of the idiots spouting that view are probably still busy in Positron's followup topic screaming their heads off about mean farmers threatening their children or acting holier than thou about how amazing their arcs are that aren't getting plays because farmers are mean and prevent people from playing storyarcs.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am anti-farming in general, its clear to me that it hurts the game in the long run if allowed to run unchecked to some degree. -

There are so many things I could say to that. Good luck.

I should give up on both of you.
I really can't believe anyone can sit there and argue your positions with a straight face.

I am just as incredulous as you, but from the opposite perspective. -
I wouldn't worry about it, 90C is max, 52C is still in the middle of the temperature range and it seems like 60C is common for those cards so you are effectively under normal.
-
I doubt it will make much difference except for the first zone as rezoning is cached by the game and Windows will cache reads otherwise.
Its harmless to try it out though. -

I certainly hope they DO go to the trouble of giving redeemed villains access to the existing hero APPs and vice-versa fallen Heroes, simply because it's more interesting that way. Potential balance issues? Sure, but probably not that many. Case-by-case tweaks could be made.
In fact, I'd go as far as to have existing Patron/APPs on side-switchers done away with by forced respec upon crossing over. You wanna go Rogue? You pick a Patron, just like any other Villain.
[/ QUOTE ]
The most logical solution is to disallow any rogue from either patron or epic pools because they are untrustworthy. -
Looks to me like it has 1GB onboard and its equivalent to an 8500GT so its OK for the $$$ spent.
-
As I read it your card would have 1GB onboard so it will not use system memory, but we would need to know the exact model to be sure.
IIRC the game uses 256MB max for textures but you will benefit from more as a frame buffer. And Finduilas is correct there are diminishing returns as you go higher unless the game in question uses more texture memory than this game for example.
So 512MB is a good choice and 1GB will generally not net you any more FPS than 512MB for this game. -
If they use different subnets yep, I have for whatever silly reason had need to nest 3 deep on occasion.

...That's *not* stoked about Going Rogue? For me, I see less pros and more cons. Like, if defenders make their way to villains, corruptors will most likely be ignored. People will prefer Tankers to Brutes. Am I just being overly-negative?
[/ QUOTE ]
So long as they don't turn the regular game into City of MishMash and keep the mixed game in the Praetorian world then i'm not particularly worried about it.
That being said and even if its only in the Praetorian world, I hope they only allow 1 rogue character per account per server per direction and disallow them from epics/patron pools if they switch.
[/ QUOTE ]
You haven't read the press release have you?
[/ QUOTE ]
I have read everything that is easy to find and none of it is clear whether the rogue players stay in Praetoria or if they come back to the regular world or other. -

I have even had it happen on the login screen when I have switched characters.
-
Sure if you pull your card the game can't use it :P
-
I can confirm this, it runs on original hardware only.
I think it adds a fair bit of stuff flying around over the software version, but there is no question that there are other games with much much more complex physics modelled, the UT3 Tornado map has flapping cloth and bendable metal amongst other things, I think I read that Mirrors Edge has a good implementation of Physx as well. -
PING is a tool to merely test a connection.
You can ping most anything on the internet via the command line, so you open a Command window via Start/Run/type CMD click OK
then you type in the black window (caps don't matter)
PING www.google.com
And you may get some results similar to this:
Reply from 74.125.45.100: bytes=32 time=95ms TTL=242
OR this:
Request timed out.
1 tells us you have connect to a regular place on the web, the 2nd says you don't.
I expect ping to work.
Firefox is an alternate web browser that will bypass any IE problems you may be having, its just a quick way to see if you have something embedded in your IE that could be blocking your access to the web from the DSL.
get it from http://www.mozilla.com
Lots of other possibilities but its 2 quick things to check. -
Hmm...
I did a quick test by putting that wpad.wildblue etc in my automatic configuration script area and it didn't block my internet so a proxy setting is not the problem.
Next I would try PING, and I would try Firefox as a couple of examples to see what is and isn't working there. -
Thats an automatic proxy, so I would try turning that off as a test while connected to the DSL.
-
In Firefox you can check for proxy settings under
Tools/Options/Advanced/Connection/Settings, you 'should' have No proxy set.
In IE its Tools/Internet Options/Connections/Lan Settings and the same no checkbox for Proxy Servers. -
Once things get even a little bit busy, the game uses more bandwidth than a 56K modem can deliver, off the top of my head I have seen the game use 5X as much plus some than a dial up connection can offer.
All that being said, use this tool here to maximize your dial up throughput, set it for dialup/56K on the slider and Optimal button below then Apply the settings and reboot.

Also be sure to have your COM port rate at 115,200. -

Okay, quick question: How can my mom use her internet sitting beside me on her desktop, and I can't connect with mine? I can still get to CoH, but not the net. Granted, this happened this past Saturday, and even she was having some trouble connecting to the net. Her comp is older than mine, and not as good, so I'm just curious.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you have proxy settings while conneted to Sat? Its quite common for Sat providers to use a proxy to reduce the bandwidth use.
A proxy would make sense while you were at your parents using DSL that the game would work but not the web browser etc. -
Are you sure you are connected to your own AP?
If so then you look for other interference, 2.4Ghz phones, garage door openers, fluorescent lights in line if sight between AP and node etc etc.
If thats not it then you check for an updated firmware for your Router.
