Dev missions can also have a Boss "die" (teleporting out) at a certain percent of hit points.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You just gave me an idea for a great AE-only emote:

    "BiggerBrother"
The character opens a white door-shaped and staggers backwards into it, the door glows a little brighter for a second, and the new costume emerges, fresh and fist-punching.
  2. Here's an idea for an Event in Advanced Mission Goals:

Transform is a command associated to an NPC in an Event class. The character changes from one character to another, and the change in classification helps turns on settings. As the character changes, it also has the option of using a costume change e-mote.

For an example, Dr. Jeckyl is a scientist players lead to his lab kit. When he gets there, he gets a whiff of the chemicals brewing and with a might roar, changes into Mr. Hyde in front of the player.
  3. Is there a way to target pets?

I play Bubblers, Kins, etc., and I live the support role. Lately I've been wishing my bubbler could have an easier time grabbing MM pets or Fire Imps.

I was wondering if anyone-- player, Mod, Dev, what-have-you... might know of a code that can be used for targeting a teammate's pet.
  4. I'd love to see NCSoft work out a deal with an embroidery service to get a discounted price on orders with the second-place design embroidered onto things (polo lapels, jackets, sweatshirts, etc.). Or, at the very least, to release it is a vectored EPS so we can get it done ourselves!
  5. Congrats on the job and on staying on Champion, Meltdown!

On the *tanker* board, perhaps. Across every server?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, Memphis. Tanker Tuesday exits on every U.S. server, and is referenced in every forum. Try a search of "Tanker Tuesday" on each of the server forums, if you don't believe me.

    Champion: 39 references.
    Freedom: 52 references.
    Guardian: 6 references.
    Infinity: 31 references.
    Justice: 4 references.
    Liberty: 4 references.
    Pinnacle: 5 references.
    Protector: 2 references.
    Triumph Forum: 13 references.
    Victory Forum: 23 references.
    Virtue Forum: 73 references.

Now, for relevancy's sake, let's compare that to something else, like, say, I dunno, Repeat Offenders.

    Champion: 5 references.
    Freedom: 6 references.
    Guardian: 0 references.
    Infinity: 0 references.
    Justice: 1 reference.
    Liberty: 1 reference.
    Pinnacle: 0 references.
    Protector: 2 references.
    Triumph Forum: 0 references.
    Victory Forum: 0 references.
    Virtue Forum: 7 references.

...as you can see, people discuss Tanker Tuesday by name over 10 times as much as Repeat Offenders, and every server discusses it. I wouldn't fib! Not to knock RO, but RO doesn't really have one tenth of the cross-server relevancy of Tanker Tuesday. There's just no comparison.

And yet... isn't that what's happening here? How much of the playerbase knows about, much less *participates* in, the event?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's across every server. Definitely a mainstay on the forum boards.

    [ QUOTE ]
How? How does it support the game as a whole any more than another server having Hami raids at a certain day/time? Or mothership raids? Or, yes, Repeat Offenders usual get togethers (most days, honestly, with specific groups "hosting" different days each week?) Or the Taxibots doing their tours?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because it's five years of training people to play an AT well. Those are all fun activities; this is players encouraging more gaming by direct tutelage, with little-to-no Developer support.

This is just my opinion unless seconded, but for my money, that's much more significant than learning how to beat Hami/Ukon or TPing people across the Hollows pre-fix.

    [ QUOTE ]
Thing is, the same can be said for any of the other events I mentioned, or any of the other groups.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I respectfully disagree, Memphis. It can't, for the distinction I just gave. While I think Taxiboting could be the next in line to receive some kind of recognition, neither Hami raiding or RWZ raiding has had the community effect that Tanker Tuesday has had, for as long.

Just given the size of the Repeat Offenders network

Gretchen, stop trying to make Repeat Offenders happen!
    ...kidding!
  8. Plaques and statues have long been suggested to commemorate the passing of people who touched our community in some way. In those cases, the requests were ignored, and with good reason: it sets a really bad precedent to add to the appearance of the city a very specific tribute that only a fraction of people see meaning in, just because players make some noise.

This, however, is vastly different. It commemorates something that the community did that helped support the game as a whole. And it honors anyone who has ever done a Tanker Tuesday before, while equally honoring anyone who may do one in the future. It's cross-server and it has meaning for anyone who chooses to associate with it.

I like the idea, and I really hope a Dev sees this and considers it.
  9. Please do, Turg, as long as you plan on posting the mission on Champion, too!
  10. Back in August 2004, I found out that an ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend were playing CoH on Freedom, so I decided to play something to go along with their toons. I decided to make a sort of Robin the Boy Wonder character, a nitwit kid who said silly things in combat. I made him Mind Control/Force Field and called him BrainyBoy.

Brainy never got to team with their toons. When the Halloween event came, I did give him some Eochai-hunting time, and if I remember correctly, he was a bit of a Winter Lord leveler. I got to level 24 with him, and promptly quit playing him for years.

Then, through Turgenev's board jumping last year, I finally found a home for him in Iron Phoenix. But as Freedom was hard to get on during the High Holy--, err, I mean, during Double XP weekends, I rarely actually played him.

The last Double XP weekend started to shame me a bit, and I made a decision to at least try to get some levels on Brainy, and I actually managed to climb a few. And when it ended, I just kept going. Up until a month ago, I was climbing steadily towards 50 until I decided to spend some time at Perma-46. After doing that for awhile, my computer died, and I've spent the last few weeks looking for a fix so I can get back on.

This weekend, in the first mission of a failed MoSTF attempt, BrainyBoy finally became a Hero of the City. My first and only 50 on the Freedom server.
  11. The Riot Shield dinged 50 yesterday. I was really happy to get him there, too.
  12. Contest relating to written content. In my case, I was a runner-up in a biography contest.
  13. Excellent choice, and congratulations, Miz Nibbles!

  16. Moving this from where I posted it as this one's official.

I got the Hardsuit last night as a Halloween temp costume. It's cool, and when the hardsuit as a temp power is no longer the gotta-get item, I would really love to see the Hardsuits as Weapon Customization pieces. Specifically, I would love to see the cannons on the arms work with ranged-weapon attacks for Blasters and Defenders (and Kheldians as well). Blasts normally associated with the hands would come from the barrels on the suit.

Becaue this would upset folks who may have gone to lengths for their Hardsuit, and instead of me holding out my hand and saying 'gimme', I thought it might be fun to make some kind of badge gathering necessary for the costume pieces, badges related to law enforcement. (since those costume pieces should really only be in law enforcement hands anyways) To get this cool item players must collect: <ul type="square">[*] All of the 'Law Enforcement' Day Job accolades[*] 1000 escaped prisoners from Bricks[*] All of the Safeguard missions[/list]As for Shield Customization, I'm a fan of maxered's shield designs from the LiveJournal CoH community page. That Sinister-style shield would be loved far and wide. And these were knee-jerk designs; I'm sure by now they've evolved to something even cooler.

  19. prvtslacker: My comments so far can be boiled down to this-- "did you ask nice, or did you make a comment like this?" I've not called anyone a name, or said anything beyond your attitude is directly proportional to your response To any committee, really.

I don't recall suggesting someone should die in this thread or elsewhere, ever; all I've done so far is point out that someone else in this thread may be having trouble communicating with the head of the group because he has. Which he repeated here to me, specifically.

If there is something in my comments you would specifically have me alter, please let me know, by PM or here. I would be interested in knowing why my comments in the above exchange are the offensive ones.
  20. Or it could be that you advocated the real life murder of those involved in a P.E.R.C. function, and your input and requests are being taken with a grain of salt, based on your negativity.

    Just a thought.

    Yes-- Niviene.
  23. I am looking for 'Ruiner', if it ever comes available.
  24. Sasayaki, my Ninja/Dark Miasma/Soul Mastery Mastermind, after 178 hours of action in Rogue Isles, finally made it to level 50. She is my first level 50 villain.

She received a beautifully decorated cupcake, which she immediately disposed of, as the cake is a lie.
