While we wait for the finale to the Ultimatum review, here's a treat! The Cinema Snob hunts down Linkara for his recent purchase of the Manimal comic! Only to discover that it doesn't have anything to do with the short-lived '80s TV show that he loves... and has more Nazis.
Warning: link is possibly NSFW. -
Quote:That would make him "Oa, the Living Planet." Which would mean we'd sidestepped somehow into the Amalgam Universe, and somehow I just don't see that happening.A chunk of him containing his life force and 'mind' falls on Oa and fuses to the planet. He becomes Oa, and takes over as the Guardians retire/disappear until such time as someone else writes them back in.
-
The difference here is that his "corpse" is currently in bits and pieces raining down on Oa...

Why yes. Yes, I will be updating the thread.
Ultimatum #3-4
And you thought only the Silent Hill comics could so efficiently drive Linkara to madness... -
Thing is, the 'gangers obviously have free will in addition to being alive. Whether the Doctor who gets shot in the first episode is the original or not, he clearly knew what was coming and accepted his fate. Assuming both Doctors survive this 2-parter, one might make the decision to sacrifice himself without telling the other about it.

Though I have to say, for a being that embodies the yellow light of fear, Parallax has been looking awfully shadowy in almost every shot of it in these trailers.

Since Barry Allen apparently never became the Flash, I believe we can assume Gorilla Grodd was relatively unopposed in his early efforts to gain power. Thus, Africa is now super-gorilla territory.
I'm more curious about how the Nazis came to control Brazil... -
The thing is, most of the changes present in First Class seem to have been made to fit things in with the established continuity of the previous 3 X-Movies (4 if you count Woverine, which I only do for the first half or so...). So yes, it's a little odd to see Havok as the older, experienced Summers brother, among other changes. But other things I find kinda cool, like the idea of seeing Mystique as an early X-Men member before Magneto breaks away to form the Brotherhood.
I guess Ultimate X-Men has made me a little more conducive to playing fast and loose with X-Men lore in the movies compared to the comics. -
Well, this is James Cameron we're talking about...

Considering there's already supposed to be a fourth season on the way, I don't think there's much chance Beckett will actually be killed. But still... hell of a cliffhanger!!!
-
Though I have to admit, Linkara's right... the idea of Thor and Captain America facing off against an army of the dead for the soul of Valkyrie is indeed pretty freakin' metal!
Shame the rest of it fails so horribly. -
Bump.
Come on, people! Don't let the zom-bra win!! -
I'm actually convinced that this'll be a plot point later on this season, since Rory and Amy's reasoning in not telling the Doctor about his future is that they saw him die when he was 200 or so years older than he is "now." But as River has pointed out... the Doctor lies.
Yeah, I think the Doctor's been fibbing about his age. -

Quote:I got the impression that it was supposed to be Odin officially declaring Thor as the heir to the throne in the event of his absence or death. That Thor had proven himself worthy of being recognized as such in his eyes (or eye, ba-dum tssh), annnnnd then immediately proves that he's not ready yet the second the Frost Giant infiltration/attack gets him riled up. Odin does have more than just Thor and Loki as potential heirs, after all; I'm hoping Balder will be introduced in the sequel.Took my son to see it who enjoyed it alot, but he asked me a question to which i dont know the answer as i was never huge into Thor comics.
And honestly its pretty obvious question and surprises me i didnt ask it to myself. But in the movie i guess the suggestion is that Odin is passing on the crown to Thor. But if Odin isnt dying then why is he passing on the crown. If he simply gets weak, goes into whatever that sleep chamber is and comes out why is he never not the king? The movie implies that this isnt the first time he has taken part in the "Odin Sleep" or whatever they call it. Just that this is the first time he has waited so long to enter it, and being weakened they dont know how long he will be in it.
Can anyone out their explain this process and i guess the rules of sucession in Asgard? Why would they need a new king if all Odin ever did was to take a nap? -
The Dark Nella stuff doesn't come in until the end, but this is indeed the wrap-up to that. Relevance to comics and heroes/villains in the young future Batman and a few more references to the Dark Phoenix saga in X-Men by the end.
Lookit baby Christian Bale! -
Quote:Listen again to the speech Ross gives Blonsky. Banner may not have been directly trying to recreate the effects of the super-soldier serum, but his research was on the same (or at least a similar) track to what the military was working on. At least, that was why the military was interested in his work.I've watched the new Hulk movie several times, and I can't remember any part of it that says his accident was due to trying to develop the Super Soldier Serum.
Abomination got created from combining Hulk's DNA with the Super Soldier serum the general had on hand, but I am certain that they never said Banner was working on Super Soldier Serum in the movie. -
Props to 'em for knowing who X-23 is, but minus points for not being able to tell the difference between Batgirl and Catwoman.

In a way, that's what makes them more impressive. They get by on skill and cunning more than sheer power. It's all about using what you have most effectively in a given situation. That's not to say that the Hulk or Thor can't be smart or skilled in a fight, but even in the Avengers cartoon Cap points out that Iron Man doesn't really know anything about fighting. He relies almost entirely on his armor to win, more often than not just by being tough enough to take the bad guys' hits long enough to somehow take 'em down and (sometimes barely) manage to walk away. Seriously, watch the Iron Man movies and -- aside from the first scene of him in the Mark III suit where he takes out a whole group of baddies without a scratch -- try to count how many fights have him largely getting smacked around or knocked down pretty badly.
Hawkeye is a pinpoint marksman. Black Widow is an expert in infiltration and espionage. These are skills that might not be as impressive or even necessarily useful in a pitched battle as super-strength or increased durability, but they still help.
