I would know nothing of Newsies if it weren't for the fact that my brother absolutely loves it (and he's got himself a wife so that rules out the most logical reason). Some of the songs are catchy I guess, but other than baby Christian Bale and Bill Pullman attempting to sing it's not much to write home about.

Newsies: the only movie I've ever walked out on. And I saw Stealth all the way through in the theater.

The Dark Nella stuff doesn't come in until the end, but this is indeed the wrap-up to that. Relevance to comics and heroes/villains in the young future Batman and a few more references to the Dark Phoenix saga in X-Men by the end.
