I quite liked the last issue of Secret Six. Very appropriate as a send-off to the series. (Well, more like Secret Eight or so, since Knockout and King Shark were there as well.) The Six (+2) going all Butch and Sundance against a veritable army of heroes? Very yes, thank you.
Not so thrilled with the last issue of Booster Gold, even if it did mostly tie up loose ends and reflect the forthcoming post-Flashpoint timeline. Sort of. At least Jurgens is going to be writing Booster in JLI. -
Quote:Yeah, I'm predicting we'll have an episode come up where his pistol finally runs out of juice and Tygra needs to deal with the fact that he's come to rely a little too much on his fancy new blaster. My ONE complaint so far is that Tygra keeps using that pistol instead of his awesome whip. We know he has it, we saw it in the first episode. Who cares if it makes more sense to shoot an energy pistol the WHIP has infinitely more STYLE! :-)
Otherwise, the show is rocking on all cylinders so far. Looking forward to more.

Quote:Panthro had one line, but it was the last line of the ep. And t'was an awesome official intro for Panthro and the Thundertank!Haven't seen it yet, did they use the music from the original series when the Thundertank arrived? Did Panthro state his classic line "When I make 'em, they don't DARE breakdown!" ?
Also, I believe this is the first time Lion-O has sent up the Thundercats signal in the new series. Which I'm betting is what brought Panthro running in to save the day. -
Somehow I like the idea the article suggests of working Jessica Jones into an episode.
That, or they're trying to be sneaky about how Nathan Fillion is playing Hank Pym in the Avengers movie next year... -
For some reason, I picture Cree Summer as the voice of Pumyra in the new series.
Then I just now realized it would essentially be a reunion of Terry and Max from Batman Beyond. Thus, it must be made so!
Not sure who would voice Bengali, though... -
If they actually pull it off, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a Starjammers movie as well. Or maybe the Silver Surfer movie will finally see the light of day.
-
Which version, though? I know the cartoon is going to have the recent incarnation with Star Lord and Rocket Racoon. The movie could go with that as well, or they could go back to the classic comics lineup set in the future.

I didn't see Talia anywhere. I saw Miranda Tate, according to the blurb at the bottom of the photo.

Quote:7 episodes for the first DVD release? Sure. But I'll be waiting for the full season set, thanks. Plenty of other cartoon shows put out a few episodes at a time on DVD to drum up sales for people who can't wait to own it.Oh now this is interesting indeed...
Noticed something on ANN this morning (Link). Basically a 2-disc set will come out on 10/18/11 for $20.
If the info is correct, the 176 minutes roughly breaks down into 7, 25-minute eps. If you count last week's hour long as 2 eps., that leaves 5 to go. That would put the last new aired ep. on 09/02/11.
Seven episodes. That's it? Hell, Young Justice had a bit longer of a run, I thought. sheesh...
Thank you for the time...
Young Justice is clearly waiting for the season to finish rather than releasing it piecemeal on DVD, that's all. -
This might not necessarily be her final costume, either. Remember in Batman Begins when Bruce was running around in the capeless suit and a ski mask at first?

For me, the drama of Superman isn't really a question of whether a villain is strong enough to beat him. It's his concern for all the other people who aren't invulnerable. Not the risk of defeat, but the risk of failure.
That said, it is really fun whenever he comes up against a foe who actually can give him a run for his money power-wise. -
I'm still wondering if we'll be seeing any more of his helmet in this one.

I don't think Frank Miller had anything to do with this... unless I'm wrong?
-
I'd say the bigger enemies he's had to deal with over the last decade or so have been familiar faces: Lex Luthor (of course), Brainiac, General Zod...
Beyond that, there's always the odd lesser foe or natural disaster/socio-political issue that crops up.
As another poster said, I think the best Superman story I've read in quite a while was "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?" Which was technically just one issue, though the new characters from that story did pop up again later on in Supes' own titles and JLA. The Elite were pretty much a shameless riff on the Authority from Wildstorm. -
I'm mildly concerned by the assumption that they need to make the sequel "edgier and darker, with more focus on action." If by that they mean a solid chunk of the sequel will focus on a depowered Hal on the run through the streets of Korugar ducking Sinestro and trying to fight his way back to his power battery to recharge his ring, I can get behind that. But Green Lantern should not turn into "Batman with a power ring." They need to more fully embrace the fantastical elements of the character and the setting. The further the sequel stays away from Earth, the better, in my opinion.
While we're on the subject, who else wants to see Keira Knightly cast as Katma Tui? -
Major point in this movie's favor already: no big, glowing button on his chest for Venom injections. Or rubbery green skin. *shudder*

Quote:That's an interesting idea. "Ka (destiny or fate) is a wheel," as they say in the Dark Tower series. Could be that certain roles or events are fated to come about again. We keep calling this a remake, when it's really more of a sequel.
They're on Third Earth already, with a new "Thundera" built around the old Thundercat base. There's a clearly stated history involving Mumm-Ra. Sure, the names of the main characters are the same, but it's not hard to imagine that the names would become popular to future generations.
Still, I don't completely buy that theory. The original Cat's Lair (with the white "body" and dark blue "head" and "paws") that we see at the heart of Thundera in this pilot was destroyed toward the end of the old series, with a new design being built to replace it. I suspect it was just meant as a nod to the original show, but we'll see. -
Quote:Technically, Terry isn't a clone. He's a son by proxy due to some genetic tinkery done on his father's sperm. But I digress. The McGuiness Family (Terry is a clone, but to what degree no clue)
Is Batman the only hero in the DCU allowed to have an extended "family" like this anymore? Seems DC is planning to seriously trim back the Flash family tree with them writing out Iris and Barry's marriage and just ignoring Wally & his brood post-Flashpoint. -
I just keep thinking of Spoony's review of the sequel, "Death Too Soon," when Cap confronts Christopher Lee's character...
"You did not seriously think that an Avenger could contend with the will of Sauron? There are none who can."
-
And I'm going to guess the woman standing between Fury and Coulson is gonna turn out to be Maria Hill. Marvel's favorite hero-hating government stooge since Henry Peter Gyrich.
-
Well, it's a more impressive vision of the Helicarrier than the one they came up with for the Nick Fury TV movie with David Hasselhoff.
I have to wonder about the Thor poster, though. From what I saw in the teaser after Captain America, it looks like Thor might be going sleeveless for a goodly portion of the film, a la The Ultimates or (judging by his cape still being present) his classic costume. -
Guy standing stock still in a display tube wearing a skintight red suit. No fire. Real Easter egg material, but it looked straight out of "Marvels".

I suspect the OP is asking about the Hulk as portrayed in the Avengers animated series. I seem to recall a bit in the second part of the Breakout episode where Hulk and Banner have a conversation in their shared headspace, Bruce trying to convince the Hulk to help the other heroes in New York. Hulk agrees, on the condition that Banner "goes away" and he gets to stay the Hulk without changing back.
After that, yeah, it's more or less just a matter of the other Avengers treating him pretty decently and providing him with plenty of stuff to SMASH!
