Only reason I say that is in Episode 7 Legacy Leo goes full armored mode, which reminded me of Mon-Star's form. So putting 2 and 2 together.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who came to that conclusion!

Rumor has it we'll be seeing the Tigersharks as well, at some point...

Okay, SPOILERS!!! for those who haven't read the most recent arc in Green Lantern:

The Indigo Tribe are all actually made up of some of the worst criminals and psychopaths in the universe. Abin Sur discovered the indigo light of compassion and used it to force them to experience and understand the emotions of others. Whether this was an attempt to reform them or not isn't entirely clear, but Indigo-1 was responsible for the death of Abin's family...

There seems to be speculation that his boyfriend is going to be fridged* as part of his origin.

    Lantern Draft

My picks for an all-TRANSFORMER Lantern Corps draft...

    Green: Optimus Prime (duh!)
    Yellow: Megatron (also duh)
Blue: Hmm... think I'd have to go with either Hot Rod or maybe Bumblebee
Red: I'm gonna pick Grimlock. Yes, he's a good guy, but c'mon!
    Orange: Starscream
Indigo: Given what we've learned about the Indigo Tribe recently, I'll need to think on this more. Maybe Dreadwing.
Violet: Have to give this one to Elita-1... maaaaaaybe Arcee.

Black: Unicron and the Dark Energon zombie-Terrorcons from TF: Prime!
  7. I could see Iron Man 4 being a combination of Armor Wars and Demon in a Bottle, at this rate.

So, with those numbers, article seems to say gays are under represented?

Mystique, Rictor, Shatterstar, Karma, Batwoman, Renee Montoya, Northstar, Rainmaker, Destiny, Vodoo, Bunker, Hulkling, Wiccan, Xavin, Midnighter, Apollo...there's just a small list.

Which, going by the 1940's estimate of 10%, they seem to have fallen in line with estimates.

So where exactly is the under representation?

Though he has a point, with all the changes they did make, why not just change one character to gay in the beginning if they can just come out and make all those other changes.
Since Xavin and Mystique are shapeshifters, do they even count? Xavin was even introduced as male until "his" bride-to-be said she liked girls.

I would also like to add Maggie Sawyer and the Pied Piper to your small list.
  9. Not sure if it's on Netflix, but I heartily recommend checking out The Spectacular Spider-Man.
  10. My earliest clear memory of an actual comic book was picked up from a rack in a convenience store/gas station on a trip with my family. I don't recall the actual issue title or number (and it might have been a reprint), but the story involved Spider-Man teaming up with Angel to fight a brainwashed Iceman following the collapse of the Champions super-group. I believe Spidey finally snapped Iceman out of it by chucking him into a car wash.

There was also a backup story featuring (Peter Porker,) Spider-Ham going up against Tombenstein Bear and the Punfisher.

Read that thing to death, man.
  11. Considering Blue Beetle was using sonic weaponry himself for much of the episode, I'm going to posit either Black Beetle or one of the Reach...
  12. Green Lantern: Ohhhhhhhhh frag, as Lobo might say. Things are not looking good for our favorite ring-slingers. But at least there's always Hope...

    Tron: Uprising

First episode of the new animated series online HERE.

Me likey what I see so far. Sorta Tron meets Batman Beyond... or maybe more The Mask of Zorro.
  14. With the revelation of Black Manta Jr., I'm starting to feel a little nervous about who else we haven't seen "5 years later" yet. But I have a couple of theories:

    - Wally is now Flash, and may or may not be a member of the League proper along with Rocket and Zatanna.
    - Original Speedy is now Arsenal (with robot arm). No idea yet on the fate of Red Arrow.
    - Artemis... might have taken up her mother's mantle. Or not. I could see her becoming something of an antihero vigilante if not a full-blown villain like Kaldur.
    - The "Competitor" mentioned (and new partner of The Light by episode's end) is probably the Reach.

And the more I see of the new season, the more convinced I become that they're really sticking with the new status quo from here on out, only relaying developments in the missing 5 years piecemeal through dialogue and flashbacks. Unless something truly apocalyptic happens to necessitate a time travel fix by season's end... we'll see.

But as far as I can see, anything involving Peter's mum and dad would go against comic continuity. Was ANYTHING ever established?
I know in the '90s, there was a long-running arc in the Spidey comics where Peter's parents came back. It was eventually revealed (by Nick Fury himself, no less!) that they had been recruited when Peter was little to infiltrate an organization secretly run by the Red Skull and were presumed dead. This later turned out to be true, when it transpired that Spidey's returned "parents" were actually dupes recruited by the Chameleon to give him access to their old government connections.

In the Ultimate universe, Peter's father developed what would eventually become Venom alongside Eddie Brock Sr., as well as working on attempts to revive the Super Soldier Program for S.H.I.E.L.D. Depending on whether you go by the Ultimate Origins comic or the Ultimate Spider-Man video game (which Bendis claimed is supposedly in-continuity), one or both of these eventually led to his parents' death.

So, yeah. There is a precedent for mysterious doings surrounding Peter's folks. I just really hope it doesn't overshadow the loss of Uncle Ben, which should be the real defining moment in Spider-Man's life.
  16. If you're looking for ongoing comics to dive into, your best bet might be Captain America & Bucky for patriotic nostalgia, and maybe Iron Man for sci-fi that's somewhat grounded in modern reality. The current run of Daredevil is also quite enjoyable while maintaining some of the gritty semi-realism you said you like. I haven't read any of the X-books in a while, but Deadpool and X-Factor were both pretty good last time I checked.

If you're more interested in collected trade paperbacks, then maybe something like James Robinson's Starman series or Sandman Mystery Theatre will float your boat. (The latter is literally a more mature and dark retelling of the early years of Wesley Dodds/Sandman, while the former is about inheriting the legacy of another Golden Age hero.)
  17. Thoughts?

I have not yet read WF, but I thought Earth 2 was pretty interesting. Made a nice counterpoint to the opening Apokolips invasion arc of Justice League. And more interesting is that they're apparently ditching the traditional WWII roots of these characters, so we'll see how the Justice Society might come together if they had been created in the present day.

Funny thought that came to me after reading it: Jay Garrick's new origin seems to have more parallels to Hal Jordan's than Barry Allen. Makes me curious to see where Green Lantern gets his powers from in this version...

  21. My no-prize answer is that someone at SHIELD doesn't know jack-all about spiders...

The real answer is more likely just an art flub. Editors! Do your jobs and catch this stuff!!!
  22. Immediately find and watch all 3 seasons of the animated series. Do it now!!!

    We'll wait...

Can't wait to see what Korra's like. Hopefully we'll get some more hints about what happened with Aang, Zuko and the rest in the intervening years as well.
