  5. As a Stone/Invul, what i do is run into a mob and either Fault or Taunt-Fault. this not only disor them but leaves me with a good few seconds to wipe a mob.

    also get Tough and aid self

    they might get some resis towards the end when fighting specific enemies.

    but with the right slotting they still hurt big time.

    and witht heir -rech and some knockback theyre nothing to be laughing at. running from is another thing lol
  7. to my know how. when PVE'N defence so vastly better. but in PVP resis is best as def in pvp isnt good.
  8. aye. earth does seem and from what i have heard and read, is a awesome power. its going to make dominators very intesterting to play.

    makes ya wonder, what kind of power secondary would be best with earth. psi, fire, ice? who knows, buts its going to be fun lvling my one.

    well my fortunata is lvl 42 now. and have been since lvl 24. thats right ive gone psi all the way. nothig but psi (mostly cos im gonna make all 4 anyway)

    but i have to say. my fortunata is awesome to the max
    im loving alot. if the team continues i continue. mass confuse, mass hold. tornado. psy wail, team buffs. it might not be god like but its def a nice toon for teams.

    as said above. u like AoE's go for ss if u like single damg more go for EM, though Em does give u the ability to pvp mroe if u ever fancy it
  14. this thread is making me make a ?/DA brute. curse u lot lol. i got 3 toons trying to hit 40-50 before i12 as it is 1 more dont help. 7-9 toons in i12 as well im gonna be swamped for ever lmao.

    though nice posts here. interesting ideas and thoughts about the secondary

    Changes to Dark Armour are unlikely to happen, the set is fine as it is. Yes with all toggles running you are going use endruance faster than a Kin/Elec can drain it. However, Dark Armour offers so much utility, good all-round resistance and of course the best Self-Heal in the game. The key to Dark Armour is the right slotting, in which if you have a heavy-end costing Primary you must consider slotting the attacks with end-reduction too.

    I dont have Oppressive Gloom as its only a small mag stun and i dont mind Minions hitting me, little damage but keeps Fury well up xP. However i have Cloak of Fear as a sort of panic button when Dark Regen isnt up (which is rare, i have slotted my Dark Regen very well for good Acc, Heal, Rech and End-Reduct) but just in case, i have it. So i dont use that all the time, i use all the Resistance offering shields all the time. Death Shroud toggles on for herding and when i want to max my AoE damage (my primary is Fire/), so this is not always on, but i still have it slotted for End-Reduct. Finally, Cloak of Darkness. . . Now this is a little tricky, i use it for stealthing and when i want an extra bit of protection (i have Combat Jumping so it stacks some Deff and Immob protection), it also has +Perception! Which is very helpful in some situations.

    My advice would be. . .

    Slot your Energy/ attacks for decent End-Reduct (percentages should be between 40-60%, more for the big hitters).

    Use all the toggles that offer Resistance, only use the other powers (Cloak of Darkness/Fear, Death Shroud) when needed.

    Use Dark Regen alot and make sure its slotted heavily for End-Reduc (70-80%), you can achive this will some wise IO slotting.

    I also have some decent +Recovery from IO sets, about 10-12%, im not too sure. That does help, but only if you are wise with your IO end-reduc slotting.

    I love my Fire/Dark Brute and it will be my first level 50 Villain, soon as i get my last two levels xD.

    mmm think this might the first time i ve seen someone like /dark. i personally like it (look n theme), but not actually made one to date yet. some wise tips there, though with tht much end red how strong r u is the queston, must have slotted ur /dark alot in the resis area, im thinking 4-5 each def power.

    if u look at mids, thorns is the only set who powers r mainluy ranged, u have a couple of melee/close range but most r good set of range and has no snipe though.

    for i12 im making a earth thorns dom, on paper sounds sweet and seen thorns in game and seems powerful-slow/immbol/good damg. pwnage at its best

    EA is disliked by many for reasons I cannot understand as of yet, on paper it looks good and I'm enjoying it so far... on a level 14 Brute though, so I can't comment on how it does mid/late game from experience. Has an End drain, has Conserve Power (which is always a plus in my opinion), has a godmode which DA doesn't if you like that sort of thing. Doesn't waste* a power on a self rez. Also, it's a defense set which means you'll generate fury while avoiding the damage as things attack you. Finally, I hear the self stealth is bugged or something, in a good way - you can kill enemies one at a time without drawing agro from others nearby as long as you keep it on. Or so I've heard. One complaint I hear about EA is that it has no taunt aura (and on top of that the stealth reduces threat level).

    EA looks like the villains version of SR so i think itll do well. the lack of a taunt aura is a downer, so it does depend on the primary as well to taunt by damg.

    thks for the quick replys they both have helped. but still looking at mids for ideas.

All i can say was it was the hardest toon to play of any i've got to high levels. imo its certainly not good for using as a tank style brute, against big mobs you dont have enough resistance, no defence and the heal wont recharge quick enough... solo or duo its great fun! only when fighting big groups is it a problem. it is however a great fun set to play as with oppressive gloom, cloak of fear you have some ability to play the toon in several different ways.
    the biggest issue with DA however is end usage, its terrible, especially if you run death shroud, i combated this by taking DM as primary due to its AoE end recovery which is damn nice. (as well as extra heal)
    overall after that blabbering... DA is a fun set with several combinations to try and see what works, howeer it is fairly squishy for a brute and can be hard work at times

    it is helpful actually thks. DA does seem to be the weakest of armor but some heroes do well and some villains so i think it comes down to the player. not sure- only a thought
