After thinking about it, I probably won't use my Best Buy gift card for the GR complete collection. Now I'm thinking I'll just prepurchase the seperate expansion and then get that item pack. That's just way easier.
It would be nice to have the new boxed set, but I don't have to get it right away. And now I can use that gift card on the new Justice League animated movie that comes out on Tuesday. -
Interesting.
I got a $25 Best Buy gift card for Christmas that I've been holding on to until I learned how they were going to sell Going Rogue. The regular expansion being digital-only threw a monkey wrench in my plans.
Hmm... maybe I'll prepurchase the seperate expansion and then use my gift card for the complete collection which, with the free month, means it wouldn't cost me anything.
I'll have to think about it some more. -
I have a character concept I've tried to start a couple times as an Assult Riffle character but she's never felt quite right. So I'm planning to make her a Dual Pistols character to see if that's a better fit.
I've also been thinking about rerolling a couple of my dusty low level characters as Praetorians to go through the new beginning content. -
I'd love to see a medieval Scandinavian zone and be able to have my characters live like my Norwegian ancestors did.

The rumor of Ultra-Mode coming early is not that exciting for me since my computer won't be able to handle it. But it's awesome for those who'll be able to use it.

I love Guest Author arcs! It gives us professionally-written stories between Issues that we can play around in. And I like that they're getting the talent from a broad variety of mediums. Not only comic books, but also novels, webseries, video game writers, etc.

Quote:I figured it was an NPC as well, but I thought they might have designed it with players' costumes in mind like they said the Praetorian Clockwork had been. Was I the only person that assumed that screenshot was an NPC the whole time?
I'm not too upset that we're not getting that specific costume. I think they mentioned that GR would have more new costume bits at HeroCon, so I'm pretty satisfied with that. -
Quote:The people working on the story are not the same people working on graphics or game mechanics. They have a team of writers who have been working on the story. So I wouldn't worry.Meaning that there just isn't that much to judge them by since then, which sort of feeds my trepidation and my concern that, as far as storyline goes, we might just be at a point at which Tyrant's bio just may be all that they actually have at this point because they are concentrating so much on the graphical upgrade and the game mechanics portion of the expansion.

Quote:People keep saying they think GR is going to come with a new Hami raid, but that sounds really boring to me. If we're getting a new multi-team raid with GR I hope to see something competely different.I understood it as Preatorian Hamidon being much, much more powerful than ours. The Devouring Earth have never overrun us so much that we'd feel the need to nuke them. I suspect that there may be a new end-game raid, to keep Preatorian Hami locked up wherever he is locked up in Preatorian Earth.

Yeah it seems like Cole was accepting this great responsibility reluctantly for the good of the human race... or he's very very good at manipulating Earth's populace to believe he has the best of intentions.

I've read that sentence over and over and it just doesn't look right. I'm used to Red Names saying "We hate villains" or "red side sucks." But a dev actually telling us to play red side?
Be careful everyone! I think it's a trap!
P.S. Welcome, Television! -
Congrats on the promotion, War Witch!
My question is about NPC costumes in Going Rogue. Are the costumes for the new NPC factions in GR being designed so players can use their costume parts? I think at HeroCon it was mentioned that players will have access to Praetorian Clockwork costume bits. We'll also be running missions from the Resistance and Praetorians, so it would be cool if we could get some of those factions' costume parts. Will the be possible in Going Rogue?
I mainly ask because, in the past, NPC factions were not designed with a way for players to get access to some of their costume bits. That's understandable, but I'm curious to see if that will remain the status quo going forward.
Thanks for your time! -

Very cool! I've wanted to move some characters around but the only thing stopping me was the cost. Now I can move a handful of characters I really like to my home server of Victory and then move around some of my less frequently played characters to a "B-team" server.

Back on topic:
I liked this interview a lot. I love that we have a dev that's dedicated to improving the Mission Architect feature and interacting with the mission writing community. It's cool that he was a player and wrote some good arcs, but that's not the most important thing about this dev.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Dr. Aeon brings us in the future. -
I'm surprised it's been so long since the GR website was updated. I expected to see more lore articles up there at least.
But I was pretty happy with the Hero-Con info, so I don't mind waiting a little longer to find out more. -
Quote:There have been hints that staying true to your side will unlock some sort of benefit, but they're keeping quiet about that right now.So there is no implied benefit to remaining a 'pure' hero or villain, or there is no detriment for a hero to go (and stay) vigilante or a villain to remain rogue?
Just wondering if there is any incentive for someone to remain in their faction silo other than for RP purposes. -
Quote:Contrived? That seems pretty unfair. There are a lot of creative people out there who might just make a good story out of such an idea.a) It is extremely unlikely that a story that has the player fight (e.g.) Hellions, then Praetorians, then Vahzilok, is going to make any kind of real sense. There are few or no narrative connections between factions of wildly disparate level. Most of the time the reason for mixing and matching in this fashion is contrived.
Quote:b) Players are generally of the point of view that levels matter, i.e. a character that has earned his way into content like the STF or RWZ arcs where he is fighting to literally save the world should not suddenly find himself in serious danger from street gangs. Plot devices intended to explain such again tend to be contrived.
Quote:c) Despite the lable, the typical all-custom faction is not suitable for levels 1-54. Most custom mobs will make life very unfun for anyone below SO level at least. This is particularly egregious when one finds arcs labeled entirely as 1-54 with Extreme AV warnings.
Quote:d) The arc is as hard as its hardest part. A consistent level range is honest about the arcs difficulty.
I'm in full agreement that you shouldn't do something just because you can. But it's a tool we Architect writers have so why can't someone come up with a good way to use that tool in their story? I don't like the idea of limitations on our creativity. -
Quote:I don't agree with this part. One of the big advantages of the Architect is that the missions in an arc don't have to be the same level. So if you want to have the first mission be lower level while the second mission is 10 levels higher, you can do that.6) Try to always set a consistent level range for your arc. If we're dealing with Knives and Malta, I'd say set all your mission parameters to be 40-54. It might seem minor but it goes a long way towards presenting an organized arc and focusing your audience.
I don't see why varied level ranges makes an arc disorganized. -
The only thing I want from a graphics upgrade is no increase in the current minimum graphics requirements. If they can still maintain the minimum while improving the graphics, then that would be great!
-
I would support a graphics update as long as they can do it while keeping the same minimum system requirements we have now. But if a graphics update means higher min requirements, then I'll fight against it because my system might not be able to handle the game anymore.
Is that selfish of me? You bet! I don't want to give up playing a game I love just because I don't have the best system for it. My system works great for CoH right now and I don't want that to change.
Sorry. -
I have tomorrow afternoon free, so I'll be happy to participate and provide feedback. I'm very curious to see how the waypoint thing will work and the banner thing, whatever that is.
