Did anyone test this on the Beta server to see if it worked the way you expected it to?

Quote:Personally, I don't like the idea that heroes have to have a personal tragedy in their history to justify their desire to be a hero. Personal tragedy works very well for some characters (like Batman and Spider-Man) but I don't think that should be the motivation for every character. Then every character would start to be just variations on the same thing. The writer/villain inside of me says Penelope can't really be a good hero until she experiences some kind of personal tragedy.
DC Comics has started doing that recently and I don't like it. They decided to kill off Ma and Pa Kent to give Superman a personal tragedy. But a lot of fans hate that idea. Superman doesn't need a personal tragedy to be a hero. He's Superman!
Just look at our world. Not everyone choose to become a policeman, fire fighter, soldier, volunteer, etc. because of a tragedy. -

Yep, my main is still my main. Still the same character I came up with during the original CoH beta. Still fun to play, too.

This storyarc just gets better and better! I really feel like my character is a part of the lore of the game, much more than when I'm playing the regular missions and task forces. The writers have done an excellent job making a story that just sucks me and I'm excited whenever a new part comes out.
The only criticism I have for this month's arc is the intro dialogue from the hero contact. I didn't like that he hates his first name of "Dakota". I love the word "Dakota", partially from growing up and currently living in South Dakota, but also because it's a great word. I have several characters with "Dakota" somewhere in their names. So that kind of made me mad at the contact at the beginning, but I soon forgot it as I got into the missions. -
That was the first door I tried as well for the same reason.

I noticed this too as I was Trick or Treating. I can't remember if this was mentioned in a patch or not. It's certainly handy.

Quote:If something does not have a Buy Now button, that means you already own it. The Imperial Defense costume set is free for VIPs with I21. Free and Premium users will have to purchase it. So check the costume creator and you should see those pieces. My first foray into the Paragon Market resulted with these purchases:
costume Slot 6
costume Slot 7
costume Slot 8
costume Slot 9
costume Slot 10
Capes
Auras
6 Character Transfers
Barbarian costume set
Rocket Board travel power
Back to School Backpack costume piece
Knowledgeable badge
Next month I will probably shop for:
Imperial Defense costume set
Beam Rifle power set
Account Service > Storage Increase options
I would have picked up Imperial Defense costume set today, but it didn't have a Buy Now button available. Is that costume set currently a placeholder only, and has yet to be released?
Did I miss any other permanent options (ie not enhancements or 5-use powers) that were newly released with i21? -
Might not be a bad idea to wait for a sale on the various inventory expansions.
-
Quote:Street Justice is not in the Market yet, but it will be 800 points when it appears. Beam Rifle is 800 points but is on sale right now for 640 points.Ok so a quick question, how much is street justice? And how much is the backpack?
I forget how much the backpack was. It's a single costume piece, so it wasn't too much. 40 points maybe?
EDIT: Just checked and I was wrong. The School Backpack is 80 points. -
This morning I bought the Beam Rifle set, the Barbarian costume set and the backpack costume piece. I have just enough points for the Rocket Board, but I'm waiting on that. I'm not sure if I'll purchase more points or not at the moment.
EDIT: And there's a sale on Beam Rifle right now that was very helpful. -
Oh, I fully expect strange when it comes to both the Muppets and OK Go music videos. It's just that there were a couple parts at the end that were stranger than I expected.
-
Yeah, I saw that this morning and it definitely IS awesome! I love The Muppets and I'm excited about "The Green Album" that comes out today.
Though I thought this video took a strange turn near the end... -
Wow. Four CoH-related panels, plus the Meet & Greet, plus they're on the showfloor the whole time. I'm normally not happy that I can never attend these conventions... but this one is really killing me.

Quote:I think they're holding it back to release it in one of the weekly store updates. They've said they want to update the Paragon Market weekly, so they're probably making it one of the weekly releases soon after I21 goes live. No, the being delayed part. I know they said "Soon after i21", but do they mean "Soon" as in, a week or three after i21 hits or "Soon" in a geologic sense?
They seem to have really sped up power set production times, so we might get a new set once a month or every 6 weeks or something like that. -
-
Here's my plan for testing these points:
1.) First, figure out how far they can stretch. I'm excited to use the "wishlist" feature to mark everything I want to test out and see if I'll have enough points to purchase everything.
2.) Purchase as many costumes pieces as I can, though leaving enough points for the powersets.
3.) If I have points left after costumes and powers, check out some of the fun stuff like the Rocket Board.
4.) Test out the disposables like dual inspirations.
I'll probably avoid the big point items like costumes and character slots for the moment. -
Quote:Yes. Since they're giving us 10,000 points, we'll basically get to test everything in the market.Sorry if this question has been answered numerous times already and is a little on the less smart side, but since this is the Issue 21 beta, and we have access to the paragon points, does this also mean that we have access to all the new powersets? If so... I know what I'm doing later...
Unless there'll be quite a bit more in there for sale then I think... which would certainly be awesome. -
I like single-target buffs in team situations. I can put some thought into who needs that buff at that time. Does the Brute need it to help tank? etc. And, when you put Temporal Selection on someone, they'll get some bonus buffs when you use the set's group buffs.
-
I still think it'll be longer than three weeks of testing and that they'll probably want to do a free player beta. The last they they'd want is to have a buggy release for Freedom and anger the new players they're hoping to get. I think they'll be looking to test the heck out of this system before release.
-
My theory is that they'll eventually open the beta up to non-subscribers to test the F2P features. Right now they might want the VIPs to help them smooth everything out before that.
-
Quote:You're predicting that for the live release? I don't know. Freedom is pretty huge, so I think it'll need more time in beta than a regular release. Plus, since this is a subscriber-only beta, my guess is that they'll want to test the free player features at some point and will open the beta to non-subscribers.Because the open beta will only be for a limited time and then it will be live.
I am still predicting 8/30/11/.
I don't think it'll go live until late September... at the earliest. -
Looks like they've got the articles up now:
