Beta updated with a 1.8 GB patch today, I fired it up and noticed the following in the console output: "mall-beta.playspan.com" So I guess that's an indication as to who's probably doing the back end payment & transaction stuff.
-
I've run CoH with the console window enabled for quite some time. Prior to whatever happened, total load time from double-clicking the icon to getting the login screen was consistently in the 74-78 seconds range. After whatever caused this, the console indicates "Loading texture headers..." is now taking ~74 seconds by itself. This represents a literal doubling of the game start time for me.

I would have sold you my entire pile of 3,182 Brainstorms for like... 100 million or something. oh well.
-
Probably should have paid more attention overall, I did notice one or two items that went from 1-1.25 mil down to around 750k.
-
A while back I posted about having 3,182 Brainstorm Ideas sitting around doing nothing. Today I converted the whole pile (3,180 actually) to Random Rare Salvage and posted everything on the market for 11 inf each. The following numbers are for those who like to look at drop rates and so on. This was done from about 4.15 PM EST to now, so anyone wondering "WTH?" with orange salvage prices in the last hour, that was me.
Timeline:
Start
4.14pm est
1st batch
3182 Brainstorms
20,285,771 start inf
2042 storms after 1st convert run (57 oranges @ 20 storms each, 1140 storms used)
Selling everything for 11 inf
50,503,986 inf end
2nd convert batch
902 storms left
50,503,986 inf start

Inquiry: is buffing Global Regen valuable to you in this build ?
Right now you are up to 86%/3.65 HP per second. The reason I ask is that the presence of an Accuracy/Recharge piece in Stamina still makes little sense to me, unless you are doing that for the 10% Global Regen bonus.
If Regen is something you want, keep it. If not, I would say replace that piece with a Performance Shifter +End Proc. With the proc in Stamina, it checks every 10 seconds to see if you get 10 points of Endurance. I did this with my 5 toggle D3 Def, and I see it fire off fairly regularly. Otherwise, I'd say strip the slot for somewhere else.

Things that jump out at me:
EM Pulse with 4 procs - Base recharge is 5 minutes and with 5% Global recharge + Hasten, you will be going 3 minutes between usages, for things that have a 1 in 6.6ish/1 in 5 chance (15 or 20%) to fire.
Radiation Infection - no End Reduction until L31 ? RI is .52 End/sec base.
Accelerate Metabolism - Why the +End proc ? With full Performance Shifter set + Hasten, that's 3 minutes between possible uses.
Choking Cloud - Taken at 24, no slots or End Reduction added till mid 30s. This is a .83 End/sec power.
Enervating Field - No slots added, 1 Recharge ? This is a 1.04 End/sec power. Between RI/CC/EF and Maneuvers, at L24 you will be burning almost 3 end/sec with all 4 going. Which brings us to...
Stamina - 6 slots, but using just 4 pieces of Efficacy Adapter, including an Acc/Rech piece. The only purpose of that Acc/Rech that I can see is it provides a Global Regen bonus.
Radiant Aura, Choking Cloud, Howl, Shockwave, Amplify - You take these powers but do not add any slots to them for anywhere from 10 to 32(!) levels after you take them. Radiant Aura is 13 End per use. 2 uses of Radiant Aura + the 3 end/sec burn rate, you will have maybe 24 seconds before your End bar goes poof. And I just noticed you have exactly one (1) attack (not counting temps/Vets) from L1 to L26.

Thank you for your very good advice ! I've incorporated most of what you pointed out in the revised build below. This revision pushes Global Recharge to almost 60%, which is a lot more than I ever expected to be able to hit. Did a fair amount of slot stripping & moving & timing changes in order to accommodate these changes.
-1 slot each & repurposed.
The revised build does not have the slots to accommodate this. The only powers 6 slotted now are Fortitude & Adrenalin Boost. I did put 3 slots into Hover, but removing them would not leave room for some uniques.
I have no idea why I put an extra slot in Clear Mind :-/ Removed & re-purposed 1 slot from each power.
4 slotted for some Uniques - LotG 7.5%, BotZ -KB and Kismet +Acc and 1 More LotG bit for the +Regen bonus.
How would 3 pc LotG, a Membrane and 2 pc Adjusted Targeting sound ? That ED caps the ToHit, Def, and Recharge is 84% before global + keep some bonuses ?
Converted to Decimation.
Inclined to leave as is for set bonuses (+HP, Recov, Regen)
Done.
Put in BotZ -KB instead of Recharge. Thinking about it, if I'm putting a -KB here, is 2 of them overkill ? I could repurpose 1 slot from Hover if I use just one -KB....
I'd like to keep the 2 travels for the cheap Invisibility option. I added 1 slot so I could cram in a set bonus, but its just -Immobilize, so keeping the extra slot is not a set in stone option.
Probably gonna leave as is - Regen Aura has one of the 5% Recharge bits, and Adrenalin boost gets near ED cap Heal/Recovery/Recharge + more +HP/Regen/Recovery bonuses.
Yeah, why did I throw a full Miracle set in here... Moved the +Recov to Health and swapped out to a Numina set.
Slot juggling & stripping puts both of these @ 5 slots, and I threw in the Obliteration sets. Dropping to 4 slots would be pointless IMO as I would lose the 5% Recharge from the set bonuses - also, at this point I'm at the max of 5 x 5% recharge bonuses.
Also, I 3 slotted Stamina and threw in some Performance Shifter pieces in, including the +End proc. Gained a +Travel bonus and a +HP bonus.
Thanks for the advice !

Ok folks, I'm looking for some feedback & a sanity check on the planned respec of my main Emp/Energy character.
First a little history...
The character in question was created in the middle of September 2004, and hit L50 mid-January 2005. I do have a screenshot to prove this :-) . Since that time, this character has never, ever, ever, been respecced. I have no idea how many free-specs I've flushed by never using the first one. The build I am still using is a classic "Pre-ED" build with things like 6 slotted Stamina/Hasten, 7 of 9 Emp powers are either all Heal or Recharge (or in the case of Fortitude, 6 Membranes), and 3 of 4 atttacks are 1 Acc/5 Dam. So after many Issues of saving and buying and plotting, I think I'm about ready to do a serious overhaul.
Note about power selections: A while back, I bribed lowbies of various levels to exemplar me down for a minute or two, and in doing so I was able to figure out roughly at what points I took what powers. Yes, I did actually take Stamina at 35. In doing this build I tried to aim for +Recharge and +Heal as much as I could.
Hopefully helpful Q & A Time!
Q. Numina/Miracle/LotG/Decimation/Hope you got lots of $$$
A. 90%+ of the Enhancements used in this build have already been purchased & I have a ~1.1 billion Inf budget if needed. Over time I've managed to collect 3 Numina sets of 5 pcs. One thing I was hoping to get opinions on would be what Heal set would be best for what Heal power.
Q. Why Elec Mastery ?
A. I can distinctly remember always having END problems as I played. I tested the various EPPs on Test before they came out, and the idea of a PBAoE "Press button for END!" power seemed like the best idea. Plus I was going to use Thunderstrike as a way to mitigate things beating on me in melee.
Q. You should take Tough/Weave/Leadership Pool/why have 2 travels?/OMG you have 3 attacks + Nuke!?/Other power suggestions
A. I would like to stay as close to my original historic build as much as possible. The combination of Freebird +Stealth and Superspeed will give me cheap Invisibility. I had never really considered Leadership powers back then, due to my End problems. I figure all Emp powers + the ability to stealth & TP through missions is enough utility for the teams I run on. As to Nova, I like being able to (sort of) blow up things every so often :-) I have NOT used my alt build at all, so if a drastic altering of things could be show to be highly beneficial, I could give that a shot.
Ok, thank you for reading, any advice would be appreciated.

Ok, I take back most of what I posted above - didn't even see the sticky at the top of the forum entitled "City of Heroes Mac Edition Guide (version 3)" (For some reason I kept thinking this was in general tech support, not the Mac specific forum :P )
and in that guide:
Retrieving Screenshots and Demorecords
Screenshots and Demorecords are both stored in an unusual place in the native Mac client. It will take some practice to reach them, but as long as you're careful you can do so safely.
WARNING: Tampering with the files within the City of Heroes application may render it inoperable, requiring you to reinstall it from the DMG.
1. Right-click the City of Heroes application and select "Show Package Contents".
2. Open the Contents, then Resources, then transgaming, then c_drive, then either "coh" or "Program Files" and then "coh".
3. The screenshots are stored in the "screenshots" folder, the demorecords in "client_demos".
This also explains why all your searching has come up with nothing - the screenshots are effectively stored inside the CoH application, where the find file utility has absolutely no ability to go looking. -
I got to thinking about this... I've got an older iMac (PPC based 2005 edition, can't run CoH unfortunately) and the Apple branded keyboard that came with it doesn't have a Print Screen key on it. So, if you are actually hitting Print Screen on YOUR keyboard, its probably not an Apple branded keyboard. Is this correct ?
My theory is that if you are using a non-Apple keyboard, OSX may not actually know what to do when you are hitting Print Screen (since it probably does not assume there is a Print Screen on your keyboard, or even what to do with it) and is not passing the keypress event to CoH, so CoH does not actually capture a screen. For the longest time, the Print Screen command on Apples has been Command (the key with the little cloverleaf symbol) + Shift + 3. As awkward as that sounds, you can press all 3 keys with your left hand at the same time.
Anyway, thats all theory - you could also try using the different methods of capturing a screen in OSX that are mentioned here:
http://www.techiecorner.com/138/how-...n-in-mac-os-x/
EDIT: you could also try searching for files ending in .pict or .pct - PICTure files have been the standard for images on Macs since they came out.

p.s if any of the following makes sense to you, HIGH 5 ! --> 9600/300, 7100/80AV, LC 1, 2, or 3, Performa 600. -
Current convention on PCs is as follows:
screenshot_100416-23-18-27.jpg
That is the filename of a screenshot taken on 4/16/2010 at 11:18:27 p.m. The pattern should be fairly evident.
screenshot_090817-22-58-16.jpg
That is the filename of a screenshot taken on 8/17/2009 at 11:58:16 P.M.
File always starts with screenshot_10 for screenshots taken in 2010. ones taken in 2009 may be of 2 different formats, depending on date taken (The format of screenshot file names was changed sometime between 05/2009 and mid-08/2009). Old format as follows:

With all this talk about costumes and body sizes and whatnot, there's exactly one thing I want to know:
When do we get more costume slots ?
"Another Particular MMO" allows people to purchase costume slots. There's even a YouTube video by one of their subscribers showing off that he bought a total of 45(!) costume slots. CoH started with 4 and has gained a grand total of 1 slot in its history.
Buying them, unlocking one through a Costume Slot TF (Save Icon Inc from XYZ!), recipe drop (ala Respec recipe), whatever - i'd just like to be able to *get some more*

I'd love to get a spot for my AR/Dev Blaster on Positron Friday night. Positron is the last TF this character needs for the TF Commander Accolade, and this may very well be my last chance to do the "old school" Positron, prior to i17 release.

Back when Base Salvage got removed from the game, a bank SG my Hero character was in had 3 full and 1 partially full salvage bins. I was bored that day, so I converted the whole pile into Brain Storm Ideas. This resulted in 3,182 Brain Storm Ideas (and almost wore out a mouse & my finger from clicking and got my alt Tank 4 of the crafting badges to boot).
For whatever reason, I've been holding onto them since then. So i'm looking for suggestions on what would be the best way to cash out on these. So All Ye of The Ebilness, pray tell what path I should take:
Wipe out all the current market bids ? There was something like 2k bids, last 5 bids was 75k or so when I checked last night.
Slowly feed them into the market for 11 inf each ? That could take forever though...
Convert to Invention Salvage ? 40 BSIs will get you a Tech or Arcane Rare salvage, 20 is Random Tech or Arcane Rare. This equates to 79 or 159 pcs depending on declared or random.
Hand out as party favors ? Delete stack ? Random gifts ? <YOUR IDEA HERE> ?
thanks,

Quote:Nth-ing this, same thing is occuring with my Earth/FF Controller on Victory.Using my forcefield character last night, I spotted another odd issue that popped up with i16.
Pre-i16, you would cast one bubble, and you would remain in the hunched over post cast stance for a bit. This made casting the next bubble more "flowing" than in post-i16. Now when you cast the first bubble, you return to a standing tall stance. It makes the casting of multiple bubbles look far more awkward and twitchy.

Since you are talking about possible errors with the Huge model, i'll just tack this onto the list:
Getting this constantly appearing in the game console whenever I am playing a character with the Huge model, or if I am playing some other character and I get close to another character with the Huge model. This started with the release of Issue 16.

Spotted a Game Master character out in the open in the Hollows - 5/24/2005. I wonder if he had endurance problems. And what about that build, all sorts of unusual power choices, would this character be viable for PvP ? I mean come on, why would a LEVEL 1 Scrapper take Team Teleport ?

<<< Begin unsubstantiated rumor HERE! >>>
About the time of my last post the connection problem, whatever its cause, reportedly was bad enough to cause issues with people being able to access the CoH forums. It also apparently spread to cause the same issue on the new NCSoft MMO "Aion".
Lo and behold the next day, things are noticeably better.
Of note is that the IP for boards.cityofheroes.com is 206.127.153.135, and the IP for Liberty is 206.127.152.51, meaning the boards are apparently hosted in the East Coast datacenter. *EDIT* Just for giggles, I checked the IP address for betaboards.aiononline.com, it is 206.127.153.209 - that places our boards and theirs in the same network.
Above info based on people talking in several global channels that I am a member of.

I'm still having problems with anything East coast. The following is how one SHOULD NOT have to go through all of a Lady Grey TF.
C'mon NCSoft, could you please call PCCW Global and complain some more ?
(if anyone wants to compare traceroutes, mine always routes through tenge13/4.br03.chc01.pccwbtn.net as the 1st hop off of Comcast's network - this is somewhere in Chicago.)
