I don't delete 50s either, and use several of my 50s as bank toons also sitting at the market. I guess time will tell which 50s get left behind, for now I'll try respecing my old farmer into a pve build. Once more Incarnate things are released, a picture of my primary toons should form. Thanks for the replies, think I'll hold off on the gutting till later.

An interesting dilemma has risen since i19 was released and I would like the opinions of my fellow forumnites. With multiple 50s and with Incarnate now available, which toons to complete.
Now originally I planned to go with the flow and get to them all eventually. But with the increase in the need for shards that will be coming. With the new TFs, Inherent Fitness, and other things coming soon™. I know toons will be left behind, which was never an issue. Because before we could dust off toons and if they were still slotted just hit the ground running.
I have toons that I haven't touched for months, some years. One example is my Fire/Psi who I used to use as a farmer. Gathering dust since I started farming with my SS/Fire, which is more fun. His networth after looking through the market is well over 5+ billion, which could be used to upgrade the 10 toons I chose to maintain.
Seeing the road this game is going, I'm wondering if I should just gut my toons that end up left behind.

Quote:Of course the -recharge would prevent enemies from attacking which would lower fury gain. This was the original issue when fury dropped quickly, as it stands, it won't matter if ported as it is right now.Nah this wouldn't be the case Fury has changed a lot over the years. One would have no issue with building Fury if Spines was available.
I think it Spines was ported it would be balanced. Castle said it was overpowered...but to me I think Spines is a tough set to stick with. I think if you actually make it to 50 you should receive an award b/c the early levels are brutally slow paced. I think that reason alone keeps many at bay and it's one reason you don't see a zillion Spines scrappers running around everywhere. Most don't make it past lvl 20.
To be honest though spines is amazing but I've seen other sets kill much faster than spines.
To me its not a matter of what kills faster or slower, I want the set for fun. As I spam, I always mention I want a Spines/Ice Armor. Not because of the kill speed or synergy, all that stuff is minor. I want the mix because I believe it would be fun nothing less.
As far as mixes I don't see at 50, out of all my mixes, I have two at 50 I've never seen. My AR/Rad corr and my Stone Melee/Energy Aura Brute. Mind you I play only on Infinity, so they may be popular elsewhere. -
-
Its because spines has -recharge which would affect fury generation negatively. Its also why Brutes don't have Ice Melee/Ice Armor. But the mechanics to Fury have changed quite a bit since CoV release. I'd love that they take another look at these sets.
Again I'll say, Can I has my Spines/Ice Armor Br00t nao???? -
Quote:To be honest, none of my existing builds on any of my IOd toons are less then 1 billion. My doms are well over 2.5bil each, I have 3 doms all perma'd. Money isn't hard to come by, I work the market, farm while waiting for stuff to sell/buy. I run TFs often, so drops and merits come easy. I also buy H/V merits and roll for rare recipes. All right, I concede that your build didn't require all those purple sets or Lotg 7.5s. But how much did it cost you? I am guessing at least 1 billion to perma.
Just reading the posts from before make it sound like doms are great out of the box. However, there's itty bitty fine print:
only when perma dom, which costs a lot of infamy and will have to save to slot it.
I also have a dominator, but it's been shelved in favor of corruptors and brutes. I found corruptors cheapest to outfit and am using my corrs to fund my dom IOs even though my dom got to 50 before my corr. -

I have a friend who has rolled WP with nearly every set, across tanks, brutes, scrappers. His biggest regret is his WP/Ice Tank, granted thats just a personal standpoint. It's great for surviving, just don't expect to do any damage. Which isn't your primary role on teams, but makes soloing slower.
-
Between WP and ElA is a hard choice to make, but I agree with Siolfir. The synergy between SM and ElA is undeniable, the +20% rech is great for SM. And slotting your Fault and Tremor with +rech procs will help recharge energize and Power Sink. Pretty much SM/ElA is a resist based version of my SM/EA.
-
I have a lot of fun with my Stone/Energy Aura, softcapped to all cept psi of course. Sets still costly on the blue bar since I had to sacrifice end reduction for softcapping. But with +rech in tremor and fault, energy drain is up quite quickly. Have yet to Incarnate him, busy w/ other things.

Quote:Its not really misinformation here though, Scrapper and Brute roles on a team is easy to cover for new people. I suggest it because it lets you watch what others do and learn, you can't really go wrong with teams either. This doesn't mean other ATs are impossible to start with.- "The easiest archetype for a new player to start off with is a Scrapper."
After 6 years, I still have no Scrappers in my characters roster. The last serious attempt at one was maybe 4 years ago and I gave up at the low teens. I will note that I do have 3 Brutes and a couple of Tanks. -
I suggest Scrapper or Brute for a first toon, IMO these are best because you can really learn the game around you. You don't have to worry about detailed mechanics or how to use debuffs/buffs. You simple walk in a room and hit things, thats your job. I started with a scrapper myself, then moved on to other ATs.
I'm more of a Brute player myself 9 brutes to my 1 scrapper at 50. Check out the class traits see what you like. Scrappers can critical and have a higher base damage mod, Brutes have fury which add to damage and a higher damage cap. They both share the same resistance numbers, but Brutes share Tank resist caps. Brutes also have more HP, that may seem that Brutes are better. However when Scrappers are played right, they can put Brutes to shame in the damage department.
You have lots of slots to start out with, make a few toons and see what you like. Welcome to the game, if you have not decided on a server, I personally enjoy Infinity. Freedom has the most players, Virtue is the unofficial Roleplay server. I enjoy the community on Infinity, its not overwhelmed but you never have trouble teaming. Word of advice though, if you can't find a team, form your own. Too many people write off other servers because they aren't bombarded with team invites 1 minutes after they log in.
Again welcome to the game, May Altitus soon infect you. :P -
Yea I wasn't sure on the bonus itself, My two fire armor brutes are SS and DM. So with either rage or soul drain running plus fury, its just pretty numbers. lol

Quote:What happens to Fiery Embrace? It is not doing anything on mine. And on the power description page, it is empty.
It does not do anything to boost damage either.
Its not a flat damage bonus to everything which is why it doesn't show. IIRC it gives a 100% to Fire based powers for 30 seconds. I believe it was about 80% for 10 seconds for non fire type. You'd really only notice it on a Fire Melee/Fire Armor toon (This is a guess all 3 of my Fire Armor toons are not Fire Melee) -
In most PvE situations 12 is way more then enough, I mean my Bane has 7 and only seen him kb'd by an AV on rare occasions. One of my fire armor brutes only has 8 and he does fine.
-
I have two /FA Brutes at 50, a SS/Fire and a Dark/Fire.
Its a set designed for dealing damage, I mean it has a Buildup power in its armor. Melee sets with long activations on its attacks feel FA weakness the most. You will feel very squishy till you get that toon IOd up, I suggest a recharge build so your heal comes back faster. I'll also echo that Tough helps quite a bit as most attacks in the game deal s/l damage. Make sure to take your self rez if you don't plan on building some defense into your build.
Stick with it, at 22 you might feel under par compared to other sets. By 50, you'll burn through the competition. -
Read your website, very impressed, congratz on your success.

Quote:Indeed, but the reason it works so well for me is because my rech bonuses aren't all that hot. Being SM/Energy Aura, I worked toward softcapping. Sadly my ACC suffered, but remedied with Incarnate slotting. Not a horrible use for a +rech proc, but if you've already got enough global and/or slotted recharge to skip Stone Mallet and still have a full attack chain - which isn't hard, if you use Tremor - then you're probably better off with damage procs. Also, the Taunt and KB damage procs are fairly cheap the last time I looked for them.
So it all worked out. -
Add a +rech proc to Tremor and Fault, its worked wonders on my Stone/Energy Aura Brute. I will echo the better ST then AoE damage, but I still prefer Tremor over Whirling Hands.

Quote:^ThisJust so you know, you can put the two Recharge Intensive auras into Hell on Earth (or Soul Extraction, or Gang War), then fit the other two into your henchmen tiers for a total of +10% Def and +20% Res.
I've found that frankenslotting the Acc/Dam and aura from Sovereign Right and Edict of the Master with the Acc/Dam and Acc/Dam/End from Blood Mandate works pretty well if you put it in the lowest tier for most primaries. The Acc and Dam bonuses come out at 86.38%, per Mids', which I find high enough for most purposes -- also, since the lower tier rarely has End issues, it works out pretty well.
The Sovereign/Mandate combo with Acc/Dam and Acc/Dam/End leaves a lot of room for procs not just the res/def procs. I use it on all my MMs -
You will be missed Castle, thank you for your work and involvement in the community. It made the game that much better knowing you paid attention to the players. Your shoes will be hard to fill, best of luck man, its been quite a ride.

Want painful? Try Necro/TA
I was working on one for PvP right before i13, he's pretty much been perma shelved at lvl 38. -
Finally figured it out, the Edit Game Exe was empty so nothing was enabled when the game was running.

Quote:They have a CoH profile, doesn't work while in game either. I tried starting up the bind program before running and while running. I think I'm just running the wrong program from the website. I thought it was right, was listed as US Vista 64bit, which is what I'm running. Thanks for the advice though, I had not thought of doing what you suggested.I don't own that particular keyboard but I have a programmable keyboard from Logitech. Mine, at least, will load custom profiles based on the game that you are playing. If you tried setting up binds out of game and then load the game, it may be overwriting your binds with a default. You might try seeing if there's a CoH profile and editing that, or editing the binds with the game loaded.
