Quote:I've gotten many Very Rares. Those Masterminds just need to participate more. (-:Actually.. I've heard similar complaints going all the way back to the BAFs.. "the MMs are getting penalized cause pets don't count toward participation." and keyes complaints that the Beams are wipiong them out too easy.. all those were either proved false or changed (in the case of Keyes).
The Henchmen don't have trouble in other trials. Some enemies do some hefty damage to them with AoEs, but not to the extent that it's pointless to bring them out in the first place. Not Siege. Not Marauder. Not the Avatar, or Maelstrom, or Penelope Mayhem (though that one IS a bit harsh), or the Sentinel. The antimatter pulse and Obliteration Beam don't seem to do much but scratch them. Everything either hurts the pets so slowly someone gets a few heals off before it matters, or they just don't hit them at all.
Tyrant, on the other hand, is full of "herp derp let's use mega AoE because screw you guys this dude is strong."
Quote:Hell.. my main is a tank and I hate jumping in and out thanks to the Hami-level Untyped damage of Tyrant's lightning. Does that "ostracize" my Tank, or the Tank AT? No.. just means I can't use my usual tactics, I need to change.
Quote:Another note... what is your primary? Melee MMs are going to be at a real disadvantage against Tyrant.. just the way it is in that Trial.
Quote:That you point out that you were on light duty suggests to me that you are not aware of the actual mechanics involved, which makes me wonder if you know whether or not your pets were shifted the way you think they were.
Quote:If there's a reason to complain about masterminds in iTrials, only TPN comes to mind. Having to keep pets in passive mode for almost the entire duration of the trial (because you never know when you'll be warped out and your pets will automatically start shooting civvies) is crippling, even at +3.
Quote:Or a BAF, where the pets run where the hell they will, and then get Tower Sniped. Or a lambda, where they INSIST on running in to punch Marauder in the face. Despite the fact they are Bots. With lasers. And Rockets. And oh look, Nova Fist, all dead. Oh well, respawn th- why am I catching artillery in the face?!
[...]
I haven't touched my MM in ages, because it makes it so gods damned NOT FUN when I order my pets to do something and they IGNORE ME. I tell them to attack something, they go and brawl it in the face!

Quote:Actually.. the level shift should help... right now your pets aren't getting it.Quote:Because they are not getting the shift from the lights...
Also, nice try, but I was on light duty. They were +5s +6s before I sent them in, for just this very reason. Ol' bossypants still one- or two-shotted them with AoEs because the devs wanted him to have lulz epic aoezes. Ostracizing an entire archetype is no way to design a boss.
Neurotoxic Breath can only do so much good. (-: -

Helps to read Dev comments on the subject before posting....
Nope, you both missed the mark. That thread's talking about some level shift bug. Totally not the issue here.
I send in my pets to fight Tyrant. They immediately come back in little bitty pieces. While we're at it, let's turn off all Tanker sheilds, remove Blaster ranged attacks and prevent Stalkers from doing anything in melee! -
Hey devs, ur doin' it wrong. Allow me to explain in the form of an open question:
*Puts on Groucho Marx glasses*
What do you call a Mastermind on a Magisterium trial? -
-
Bring back the ACU about to get its face punched off. )-:
-
Take a Stalker with Challenge so you can both taunt and placate the same enemy.
-
Just happened twice in a row on Virtue (~7:30ish Pacific). The instant we defeated Nega-Pendragon, everyone's clients crashed.
I think we had Positron watching for the first one, too. That'll help it get prioritized. (-: -

Whoops, been a while since I checked this board. Look at all the Crab threads!

Daaaaaaaang. I've been trying to get Invigorating Imbuement for like two months straight! You lucky dog!
....
What, that wasn't what you're talking about? -
Now I need a ninja-themed character to use it on. I'll be all up in people's faces, Beast Running circles around them...
"But you're a ninja!" they will say. "You should be using Ninja Run!"
And then I'll reply, "But look at you! You're NOT a ninja, yet you're using Ninja Run!"
Oh man, this is gonna be so awesome. -

Now if only zone events could spawn a separate or phased instance for those who want to partake in it...
Like there was this one time, I went to Rikti War Zone to get away from the Rikti. |-: -
Couldn't you, uh, go to Rikti War Zone to craft instead? Since Issue 10? I have no idea why people kept running across Steel Canyon. It was bad enough trying to tell them there was a tailor in Rikti War Zone too.

Quote:PvP isn't unavoidable, though. |-:It's easy enough to avoid such situations in PvE, but no matter how balanced, they are unavoidable in PvP, if not because of poor balance then because sometimes your enemy is just too damn good.
Don't get me wrong, I respect that people don't like getting totally whupped, and those people either don't PvP or pick their battles. Sometimes, you just gotta know when to quit. I don't think it's appropriate for people who don't to get me all nerfed up because they want a shot at beating me solo.
It should be noted that I avoid the dimwits in PvP zones for the same reasons everyone else does. I much prefer the arena, but for so long as mez suppression stays in effect, I can't stomach it.
Quote:And those 'custom' enemies many players hate and actively avoid don't hold a candle to the challenge posed by an even moderately well built, player controlled enemy in PvP.
Not saying *you* wouldn't enjoy it, but it strikes me as a fairly empty bandwagon you're driving.
... , I don't have a problem with other characters being better than mine. If I don't want to be beat, I won't fight. Simple as that.
But for people to insist that other players necessarily be more fun for them? That's exactly the opposite of what PvP is supposed to be about. -
Shine a flashlight into your screen if you need a better view of something in-game. I did that in the flooded basement mission and it really helped me see where the walls were.
-
I think most toggle SFX persist, don't they? They're just hard to hear? It's the obnoxious ones like Targeting Drone that got turned off. Next on the list is obviously Demon Summoning and Beast Mastery/Umbra Beast. )-:<
Conversely, the Targeting Drone fade is also applied to the Robotic Drones Lore pets and their powers, which makes them totally silent. ♥ -
Quote:So in other words, my preference is wrong and I shouldn't want to PvP?Well I'm happy the entire game doesn't revolve around you, then. Because I'm pretty sure you are in the minority that finds that crap 'fun'.
I'm just sayin'. If it was PvE against players, I'd enjoy the snot out of it. -
Quote:Again, mez suppression was in effect. As long as I've been playing (Issue 6), PvP's been broke if only because of that nonsense.that's pretty much what we originally had, and nobody was busting down the doors to get at it back then either.
Quote:Yeah, because being perma-mezzed is SO much fun for the poor sod on the other side.
Quote:And it's not like Controllers and Dom's could even mez a Tank through all their shields, Nope....oh, wait, yes they could. And THAT sucked.
"Hrm, he specializes in mez. Should I be worried about mez? Say it ain't so!"
"It ain't so! Here, we'll make you invincible to it because being perma-mezzed is SO not fun!"
Quote:So basically you want PvP to be all Purple IOed, Incarnates. That what it would be (if it isn't already) and every one else gets farmed.
I mean, it's not like I'm going to take any Warshades up against Giant Monsters in PvE. What's the difference?
Now if we took teams against each other, THAT'D be interesting. As long as there was none of that phony mez suppression. -
You doops. The thread got moved. (-:
-
Just about, yeah, except for that "mez suppression" baloney. That turned me off to it even back then.
-
If it was PvE. Against other players.
No diminishing returns, no travel suppression, no heal decay, full-duration mezzes, full-strength mez protection... None of that nonsense "mez suppression" that makes people immune to certain kinds of mez after they get hit with it...
If I can't out-damage some guy's heals and regen, I shouldn't be allowed to beat him. If I get hit with chain-mez and wind up perma-held, I deserve defeat. If someone's using that one damage type I'm weak to, then by golly, I'm gonna suck it up and be weak to it. If I can't mez the other guy because his protection is too strong, then I guess I shouldn't be trying to mez him herp derp.
And of course, Supremacy should definitely grant teleport protection with enough Henchmen around. I mean, come on, that's just common sense.
