No, I'm not posting this in Suggestions & Ideas. Shut up.

What we need is a Courier Man store-like NPC! You talk to him and you can send yourself all sorts of crap to global e-mail, in the Character Items section. Consider the benefits:

  • It could bypass the 15s e-mail cooldown, since you're just sending items to yourself anyway.
  • You can send yourself more than 20 items at a time.
  • You can send yourself items that otherwise can't be peeled off of your character (but should be), such as Enhancement Converters, Catalysts, Boosters and Unslotters.
I'd totally join the Courier Man fan club the instant it happens!

This is blasphemy!

Prepare the bonfire! We must BURN this heretic!

...

Just reveling in the memories of when I was suggesting we be able to Email items. Ah, those were good times. Lots of players telling me not only that it will never be done, but also why it shouldn't be done... I just wanted to get in the front of the line of this angry mob :P

In case I'm being too subtle, I understand what you're saying, and I see the logic behind it. I don't really care either way, but I would say that I would rather see this implemented rather than watch the inevitable train of players who come along and say "No! This can't happen! And here's why: It will make me sad when I remember all that time I couldn't do it before..." or some other trite.

Good luck with your rally, man! I salute you with my torch!

Uh oh...

GET OFF THE PYRE! GET OFF THE PYRE!

There is a finite limit for a reason.

Yeah but what if you call your courier just before going in on an AV and it gets ganked? Your team will be furious with you for feeding.

And what is that reason?

On every new character I make there are about 30-35 items I claim from the account items tab in email. If you purchase a few super packs, you can end up with hundreds of items in the character items tab. If this system used the same mechanism, as suggested, I'm pretty sure the email system can handle it. It already does.

If, on the other hand, you're suggesting there's some sort of game balance issue involved, I'm still confused, because you can still transfer more than 20 items between characters. It just takes longer right now.

It's not about what the system can handle nor what you can transfer. And the account items and character item is far different than the actual inbox as you can't place things from your inventory into the the account or character items boxes.

It's that having an unlimited or enlarged amount of space in your inbox is effectively increasing your storage. Which does a number of things including but not limited to:

-Promotes hoarding vs putting things up on the AH, same reason that base storage are limited the same way
-Makes additional storage purchases on the paragon market less desired
-Allows you to increase your effective amount of storage beyond what is intended
-Allows you to hold an excessive amount of inspirations.

I concede your point on the additional storage purchases - though if this option was gated behind equivalent Paragon Points, I'm not sure it would matter. I can somewhat agree that it would encourage hoarding rather than AH use, but I think the limitation in base storage is more about sharing items with other SG members rather than limiting the means you may share with your own alts. Though, in truth, I really don't see much of a point in limiting either case.

Excessive inspirations, though? Inspirations already rain down on us in normal game play. There are also tons of methods of purchasing inspirations as well. I really can't see how adding a method of storing inspirations would cause game imbalance.

Regardless, I doubt that a system like this will be implemented, but not because of these reasons. Unless it can be directly tied to some means of bringing in repeatable income, I don't see developer resources being invested in it. So, maybe it should charge a Paragon Point per 'email' or something similar, like buying token packs that allow you to use this NPC. Then, perhaps, we could get some dev attention on it.

It makes a difference for people who solo some of the higher end tfs.

"Hmm, more storage...you think that would allow more people to solo TFs?" is probably not often heard in dev meetings, I would guess. I could be wrong, though. Perhaps a red name will clear that up for us.

Personally, I'm not that happy with the ability to trade resources between our characters as it is, for the same reason I wasn't a fan of the idea way back in the day - it becomes expected. Something I REALLY don't want to do is to see all of my characters and their resources as a communal pool from which I can draw to build towards one, specific character because all this is telling me is I should play one character and one character only. Or, failing that, that I should only care about a few and just use the others as suckers.

And I can't do that. I care about all of my characters. I'm a caring kinda' guy. Yeah, I'll swap resources from time to time, sure, but I don't like to think about how many billions I have between all my characters and what kind of awesome build this could buy since I'm going to want an equally awesome build for everyone. It just produces a culture of using some characters to gather resources with and others to use them with, and I simply don't like that. I prefer to have each character be independent of the rest.

That said, I don't feel the e-mail system is bad, far from it. I just don't like what it's done to character building, is all.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
