I want that power on a scrapper!
  2. I don't think the procs stack with themselves, but by placing them in an AoE the chance for them to go off is much better. The Gaussian is a unique so I am sure it won't stack. The Perf Shifter may but can't say for sure. Someone with more knowledge will have to answer that one. I haven't ever placed procs in those powers since they have such long timers. The procs would work better in a power with a shorter recharge IMO.

This is what I did on my Ice Tank.
  4. There is a store contact for tech enhancements in Founders Fall I think. If he isn't there then in Brick's Town. When you talk to him you will have to do a couple missions and then he will start selling you SO enhancements. Another way to get SO's is to run some AE missions for tickets and use them to but SO's from the vendor in the AE building.

This is why power leveling will never go away, as long as lowbies will pay for it someone will provide.

More power to you and milk them for all it's worth.

I think I was in three overlapping Sonic Grenades at the time so the damage was rather impressive.

I haven't had this much fun solo in a while. I'll have to actually use tactics now! Woo-hoo!

I am looking forward to this myself. The main reason I have grown bored is the lack of challenge. Can't wait to get home!

I even remoted into my computer and made sure to get the patch downloaded already.
  7. I'll probably make and Earth/Earth Dom and a Necro/Therm MM is I can tear myself away from running 8-man spawns solo with my brutes.

I am very attached to the appearance of my stone armor brute. I like the fact that I transform into the huge mountain of stone. That doesn't mean I am opposed to change, but the change would have to real good.
  9. I have Fault and Tremor on my stone/stone brute and really couldn't imagine dropping either one. If the no damage in fault bothers you look into procs, there are 2 you can slot into it.
  10. I normally use Stone Mallet, Heavy Mallet, Seismic Smash, Boxing, and Brawl with Fault thrown in when it is up. I don't generally have a set attack chain and just use whatever is ready at the time. I also tend to go for some +recharge so I can use heavy hitters as much as possible.
  11. You can also get some smashing resist form Kinetic Crash. Put that in Kick as the prereq for tough with 4 of the set for +2.5 smash resist and -kb.

Also, if you can slot sleep sets anywhere you can get 1.25% from 4 Hibernation's.

It is doable as stated above, but you would probably be better off shooting for more +recovery to have healing flames up more often and try to get some +def.

    Mace Question

The shovel is my favorite. I just get a kick out of beating someone with that.

By that list the only 2 you have to unlock is Carnival Mallet and Rularuu Hammer.
May actually start seeing some brutes with the Carnival Mallet after I16.

    Energy Aura?

If there was something that rubbish thought was rubbish, it'd be the self-heal in Energy Drain.
When I have 4 mobs around me I have no need for a heal. The only time I need it to heal me is when I am fighting close to the aggro cap and then it is 46% every 25 seconds. That really isn't that bad.
  14. Gruumch

    Energy Aura?

    1) Is this a "Medicine pool required" set? I.e. Is the heal from Energy Drain sufficient to make the set reasonably survivable on its own, or like pre-i16 /electric, is medicine "mandatory"?
I did not take the med pool on my brute, but a lot of people do. I find the heal in ED to be good enough for me and rarely have a problem. Mine recharges in about 25 seconds for 46% heal off of 10 mobs and with my capped defenses it is always enough. When you are leveling up you may want med pool.

    2) Can I "main brute" (take alphas in large teams) with this defense set? If so, what are some general tips you all can give to help me make that happen?
I tank with my WM/EA brute all the time, but this is an IO'ed level 50 also. As I was leveling up this brute I took taunt since I was short on AoE's. Once I had a full attack chain of AoE's I was able to maintain aggro without any problems.

While leveling up I had a rough time in the early 40's, but other than that it was a fun build. Psi really tore me up till I could get IO's slotted. I currently have capped all defenses except Psi and negative energy. Psi is around 21% so it isn't that bad of a whole anymore.
  15. I like burn myself, but with a brute it works best with electrifying fences. I have tried soul tentacles and it just doesn't work well to lock down mobs to use burn. I would say if you are set on getting darkest night then just skip burn and tentacles altogether. Pick up dark obliteration instead for the extra AoE.
  16. I pretty much just play Brutes, I just like the play style of the AT. I have taken 6 to 50 and have many other low level ones.

I have been trying to branch out more lately and have managed to get a MM up to 40.
  17. Gruumch

    First 50!

Gratz! That first 50 will always be something great....Now get out there and make another one!
  18. I like the change to Brawl a lot. It will definitely make a big difference on all brutes since it is common to use Brawl as a fury builder. Maybe the 1-20 leveling will be much better now.
  19. Of the choices you listed I would go SS/Fire. I have heard it is ok in PvP with Mako as patron and I know you can farm with it.

I don't think you have sacrificed any acc with this build at all. You have 41% global accuracy bonus in there.

The build looks good. You capped defenses as well as managing to get some other good bonuses.
  21. From my understanding you can have 5 of any set bonus, so that is5 16.9 HP but you would waste the 6th one. I switched it out to keep from wasting the bonus and upped regen instead. The difference in recharge between the slotting is .29 seconds which is pretty small. I don't think you will even notice that. The difference in acc is more than made up by tactics and my slotting ups damage by a little also, but all together I don't think you will notice gloom performing any different and Entropic Chaos is a cheaper set.
  22. I looked over your build and did find some tweaks to improve several areas.

I increased your damage buff by the most, it is up by 14.5%. I did this by removing 2 Mako's from smite and replacing them with 2 Dampened Spirit's and dropping Kick/Tough for Assault/Tactics with 5 Gaussian's in tactics. I also saw you were over the cap on +hp bonus in Gloom so I swapped that out for Entropic Chaos.

Hopefully you can use a couple of my ideas. The only question is will the loss of Tough effect your survivability too much to justify the increase in damage. Anyway, here is the build.

It should work fine for farming. I have a WM/EA with capped defenses and I can easily take 12 level 52 bosses without any support and I tank for 54 boss farms with some support.

What brute doesn't have pool powers. I have 5 level 50 brutes and all of them have fighting and fitness. It just makes them better so why not have it.

I have Mako cones on my Dark Armor brute, I just tend to jump straight up to fire them and they work like PBAoE's then.
