Please analyze DM/WP

Hey all,

This is the rework on my main villain. He used to be an EM/FA brute, but I go so fed up with that combo, I nuked him even though he'd been 50 since shortly after the level cap was raised on the villain side, he had all the power buff accolades, and he was pretty well IOed up.

Now he's a DM/WP and already superior in ST damage output and survivability.

Below is the data chunk for his no purple set build. It's 9 seconds short of perma-soul drain and uses MG, Smite, SL, Gloom, Smite as the attack chain which deals out a respectable 223 DPS while under Soul Drain and at 90% fury.

He's got 2529 hitpoints and with 1 in RttC regens at 74.5hp/sec.

Can anyone see any tweaks to increase damage and/or hitpoints without the use of purple sets?

I have tried several alternate builds but none can improve your damage without sacrificing other needed stats mainly recharge, ressistance, and regeneration.

The only thing I saw that I might try if you could find 2 powers to drop would be Assualt (probably 2 slotted with end reductions) and Tactics, slotted with 2 Adjusted Targeting and a Gaussiens Build Up Proc.

This would give you +10.5% (Assualt) +2% (Ajusted Targeting) and a +2.5% (The average amount of damage added over the long haul for having a small build up chance) for a total damage improvement of +14.5%. I just didn't figure you would have two powers you could dump.

Very nice build. Very nice indeed.

If you PL'd to 50 just to get an "epic" thinking you'd be ber, you're going to be sorely disappointed with the HEATs, because the VEATs were designed so that anyone with one good finger and a braincell can rock the toggles.

Thanks much, OF2.

I could drop kick and tough for assault and tactics. I've certainly got the end to spare and the tohit buffs from tactics would be welcome with dark melee for when soul drain is down.

This character is only 41 now so I'll see how his survivability is with darkest night and without tough running rather than DN+Tough+everything else.

I looked over your build and did find some tweaks to improve several areas.

I increased your damage buff by the most, it is up by 14.5%. I did this by removing 2 Mako's from smite and replacing them with 2 Dampened Spirit's and dropping Kick/Tough for Assault/Tactics with 5 Gaussian's in tactics. I also saw you were over the cap on +hp bonus in Gloom so I swapped that out for Entropic Chaos.

Hopefully you can use a couple of my ideas. The only question is will the loss of Tough effect your survivability too much to justify the increase in damage. Anyway, here is the build.

Quick question there:

You mentioned that I was over the cap on HP. I know that originally we all thought that you couldn't have more than 5 of a specific value buff, but I could have sworn one of the devs came in and corrected us stating that it was no more than 5 "named" buffs.

But that's where my understanding ends.

I see what you mean on the build I posted.

I have 6 Sets granting +16.9 HP but they come from 3 different kinds of Sets.

I had thought by "named" the dev was actually talking about the descriptions we see in the combat monitor as per small buff, large buff, etc... but how do we tell that from Mids? Is there ever a case where an identical value has a different "name?"

My concern on this comes from the loss of enhancement values on Gloom.

Your slotting gives 57/81/39/39 where mine gives 63/89/43/64 and that extra recharge may be necessary.

I do like the extra damage there, though.

From my understanding you can have 5 of any set bonus, so that is5 16.9 HP but you would waste the 6th one. I switched it out to keep from wasting the bonus and upped regen instead. The difference in recharge between the slotting is .29 seconds which is pretty small. I don't think you will even notice that. The difference in acc is more than made up by tactics and my slotting ups damage by a little also, but all together I don't think you will notice gloom performing any different and Entropic Chaos is a cheaper set.

Aye. The current chain only needs 79% total recharge in gloom, and global covers that completely. Good stuff. Thanks, man.

Yeah, by "named bonus" what they meant is the things like "Large Recharge Bonus" that you see in the Real Numbers. All regular set bonuses use the same naming schema, so 1.5% HP from different sets still count as the same set bonus and get limited to 5. On the other hand, things like the Luck of the Gambler special are listed as "Luck of the Gambler: Increased Recharge" (or something like that) so they don't interfere with the 7.5% recharge bonus you can get from Sting of the Manticore or some of the newer sets, because those are listed as "Huge Recharge Bonus".

Mids' has it right, so you can just follow the warnings it gives.

A couple things:

Indomitable Will could happily take a Luck of the Gambler special. You'd trade 0.06 end/sec for some extra Psi defense and another 7.5% recharge.

I'd move the slot containing the Regenerative Tissue from Rise to the Challenge to one of the other powers. The Heal enhancements in the same power will affect the Regenerative Tissue's bonus, and RttC is at 88% heal vs 91.78% in Fast Healing (which translates to an extra point 1.9% Regen. It's stupid minor but, hey, why not?

Stamina should go with BillZ's version, not Gruumch, who's trading 7% Recovery in exchange for a set bonus of... 1.5% Recovery? Whoops.

For Gloom you could take his slotting and replace the Acc common with something else, like an Acc/Dam or Acc/Dam/Rech, etc. Or an Acc/Dam HO. With the Devastation quad, you get 42/96/60/60. You'd be trading 15% Accuracy for 15% Damage (7.6 points of damage), 21% End Reduc (0.87/activation), and 21% Recharge. Or you could liven things up a little and put in the damage proc from Cloud Senses (14.36 damage on average), though you'd down to only 22% accuracy enhancement. I think you can afford to trade some Accuracy away, given set bonuses and Tactics, so the Devastation looks like a win to me.

Or very alternately, you can put in 4 Devastations and 2 Entropic Chaos. You'd lose the 6.25% Recharge and 2.25% Max End, but gain 12% Regen (on top of the 10% from Entropic Chaos, for a total of 22% in that power alone), 33.7 (2.25%) HP (!), and another 3% damage buff. Also, you can get better enhancement values (62/100/63/83, for an example). But losing that recharge is annoying. At least with the Purple Armageddon set you get the best of both worlds.

The fourth LotG in CJ is taunting me. The enhancement bonuses it gives are virtually non-existent, but it provides a 9% Accuracy bonus. With the addition of tactics, it might not be necessary, letting you move it elsewhere (if nothing else, Dark Obliteration is really asking for a sixth slot for a Cloud Senses damage proc or some better recharge for crowds). Heightened Sense is a bit iffier.
