Scarlet, do you have Mids installed? It's perfect for answering questions like this, because you can just switch the powers on and off and watch what effect it has on your Def numbers. Also very good for answering the IO set bonus v. pool power type of question.
-
If you're primarily a soloist, then the Rogue/Vigilante stage definitely has less potential. There are still a truckload of defeat and exploration badges to collect solo, though, plus any side-switching missions until you make the switch all the way.
-
You're crafting both 25s and 30s, right (8 of each level, plus one which can be either)? If you are, then I can't think of anything beyond the count being bugged, in which case you could try asking a GM to take a look at it.

Quote:Ah, but surely the question now is, how does War Witch feel about clowns? In short: Positron hates clowns and has made it abundantly clear 'never gonna happen'
It's just a shame there's no space in the set for a 'Go On, Smell My Flower' power. Also, I'd go for Fear over Sleep for the second Prankster. In fact, all clowns should cause Fear. -
Quote:AFAIK, most AE exploits have been based on finding mobs like the hami mitos and manic slammers which presented no or trivial challenge, or by using tricks like ally buffing. Those are all going to give the same XP per mob as they would in the rest of the game, or a little less as AE doesn't apply >1.0 XP modifiers. Even making a custom mob which matches a character's strengths and weaknesses still isn't going to make each mob deliver more than the XP assigned to its rank.By keeping track of XP earned in an AE mission and relating it to the XP earned by defeating the same number of foes of the same level in a normal Mission. It should be pretty easy to gauge who's intentionally exploiting the system.
So...I'm just not sure what you intend your system to measure, here.
Quote:If the AE is really designed for story-telling, then it should be obvious that a 1 mission arc isn't telling a story. I, honestly, don't think any XP should be rewarded for a 1 mission arc
The only system I can honestly see working is monitoring average XP over played time, and investigating cases where this is excessive, by whatever measure is deemed to be 'excessive'. And even that has tremendous difficulties (granularity, uneven XP gain in normal play) and ways to evade it (starting by leaving a character logged in to an instance overnight). Maybe the problems could be solved, but whether it would be worth it in terms of results, I have no idea. -
With a little patience and low-ball bidding you can pick up a lot of the IOs stupidly cheap in the AH. (Especially at some levels -- almost any level 50 common IO can be got for 20,000 inf or less in a couple of days blueside.) It's even easier and more convenient now that you can bid on stacks of enhancements. And even where you can't get the enhancement, you can often pick up the recipe at well below bench cost.
-
You can also set your difficulty options to No Bosses while soloing, which will knock the bosses down to lts, and make things a lot easier.
-
Standard enemies in MA are capped at the base XP rate. So anything which normally has an XP modifier >1.0 will actually give you base XP instead. Standard mobs which normally have a modifier of >1.0 still have the reduced XP in MA.

DropStats doesn't have the new Temporary Powers in it, yet. It should be pretty easy for people to add them to a dl'ed copy, though, as all the recipe names are in text files.
Once we're sure of the pool they drop in, I'll see if I can get Archie to update the files, or show me where they are and I'll update them. (He's started a new job with a bad commute, so he's been a bit flaked out in the evenings ATM.) -

Quote:Weighing up pros and cons and choosing to spend your money on something you want and that will provide good value for you is the very essence of learning to be responsible with money. If having access to demons for the next 2-3 months is worth not spending $15 on something else, then it's a perfectly valid and well-informed choice to make.edit: i guess that is angst, maybe it has to do with teaching my teen about being responsible with his money. whatever it is, i don't know if i am going to be able to do it
Also, OMG, demons! DEMONS! WHIPS OF FIRE! -
And yet, according to what we've heard, Vigilantes will continue to use WW. So we can look forwards to people taking their vigilante heroes Redside to work on those 1000 Longbow kills for the defeat badge, and then coming back to sell the resulting piles of loot in Wentworths. I'm not quite sure how the highly profitable mass-slaughter of Longbow RPs into heroic influence, but I'm sure someone will think of a work round.

Augh! I'm trying to be there, but my stupid computer won't apply the stupid patch. It keeps freezing with it part done.

Some of them have already sold, some are still up there. -
My Fire/Ice/Fire blaster, who would've been my first character except I rolled a rad/rad defender first to get the hang of the game.
I love Fire/Ice/Fire so much. Shiver, RoF, Fireball (with added Ragnarok Chance for LoLs) Fire Breath, Blaze, mmm, so much firey goodness. All topped off with Rise of the Phoenix, best power ever.
I hope when GR and side switching hits, I can persuade Archie to resub for a while, so I can team up with his Fire Brute, crank the difficulty up high and rampage through redside content. -
I think there's a chance that the BM could pick up for a period after GR, depending largely on how easy it is for Vigilante characters to access missions and SFs redside. If it's easy for Vigilantes, then they'll stay as Vigilantes and have no effect beyond maybe increasing the numbers of SFs and arcs run. However, if it's made difficult, and switching the whole way makes it a lot easier, then badge hunters and blueside players wanting to take a tour through redside content might switch all the way to villain/rogue. Since I'd expect 'content tourists' to generally be higher-level, already IOed characters, with little interest in hording IOs redside, then they could end up dropping a reasonable amount of stuff on the BM. For a short while, anyway.

Blueside, they can also be found rarely in spawns in the south-east area of the RWZ.

OTOH, people playing AE missions are only visible to others when they're between missions. The majority of the time, they're inside instanced missions.

For me, in terms of time spent it's badges>>>>MA>[a lot more >s]>PVP. The only time I've actually PVPed was in pursuit of badges. Although I'd probably be casually interested in PVP if it was easier to get involved in, and there was actually some of it around. It would be nice to get the rep badges, and I hate the idea of farming for them.
You made a slight miscalculation, here, as the MA is split over two different sections of the forums, with a total of ~46000 posts. Also, the PVP forums go back as far as October 2005 (although a lot of the posts have clearly been lost over time), whereas obviously the MA section posts go back only to April 2009. -

It's mandated in the Paragon City building codes, as part of a plan to improve the cardiovascular fitness of Paragon City's inhabitants by making them walk further. The same codes prohibit elevators from connecting more than 2 floors.

Quote:There's a post describing the problem here.WHAT?!
* *Ponders stripping everything from the market across two accounts, three servers and way too many alts*
It hasn't been talked about much in beta, partly I think because it required having items in stock on the test AH when the new UI came in, and the AH doesn't get much traffic on test. Exactly what happens isn't clear -- if the items are really gone or just invisible, if it's due to some peculiarity of the test server. Hopefully someone is looking into it. -
