Quote:I sure missed some uhm interesting games when I skipped the Nintendo generation game thingies. Dare i ask if this is even the most silly game that used to be available? Not quite. It's from this wonderfully Japanese game. My avatar actually shows up at the 2:04 mark.

Quote:Yes, please and more yes? Very nice ideas here. Make it happen. Its good to see people still would like that.
And yes je_saist, I can imagine that. I clicked them all the time when I was new, as they say they got the latest scoop. But they dont. I recall there is something like a monthly "City Scoop", but like so many other things about the game its something that you have to dig for outside of the game. (Very bad design that imo. When its official info to some events or story background, it should be accessible inside the game.)
On the other side I always wished (and asked) for more NPC interaction.
Why doesnt the newsie have the news?
Why cant the security chief tell me about the zone without me having the mission?
Why cant I give the panhandler a dime?
Why cant a cop give me some info on the local gangs and their whereabouts in a list menu?
Why cant a pedestrian give me directions to a neighborhood or brief story of the zone I'm in?*
Why cant I take a pamphlet, especially from miners and Ludites on villain side? Maybe I DO want to find out about the PTS or Cage Corporation. Why am I immediately attacked, and not just when I attack them or stand there without taking one for too long?
Why cant I buy something at a street vendor and end up with a snack in my hand that I can pull out again with '/e lastbought' e.g.?
*They might have a random list of things they know about, and conversation options for inquiring about this zone, this neighborhood, adjacent neighborhoods, villain groups you need to hunt for (click"Ask about Circle of Thorns activity". - "Seen any strange green glows or people in robes around lately?"), ask if they saw anything strange or dangerous around lately, ask for the time.
There could even be (gasp!) little side missions that some pedestrians or cops have randomly available. -
Quote:Thanks for the warning. We better try it at a later time then.I've recently been informed (and then gone to verify) that in the process of marking the Arc Dev's Choice, something corrupted in the critter files. If you still choose to run it, be aware that at the moment the final mission's critter file is basically gone except one critter, the EB and it will spawn as every mob. Not sure what did it, but it was functioning fine yesterday, and today it's got the problem.
I have a word in about the issue and I'm hoping they will allow me to fix it very soon. -
My picks for the best DO category:
I payed lots of attention to playability because imo in the DO category, you target the toon who has not benefitted form things like stamina, 6 slots for attacks and most of all enhancements like SO's or the like. So I used mook Buster to play these. A bona fida 14th level clawed brute.
#1 Ctrl + Alt + Reset #137561 @Bubbawheat
Sorry Bubba, but if it is up to me, then you keep that influence. I was very charmed with the way you did the time travel. How things started to grow out of control.
#2 The Invasion of the Bikini-Clad Samurai Vampiresses from Outer Space! #61013 @Aliana Blue
Take a corny overdone concept like the BCSV's and then make it funny enough to last 3 missions. You understand that Mook Buster wants his royalties?
Didn't choose these but:
Sibling Rivalry #118690 @Sister Flame
This one came very close to be one of my picks.
PUG Hell #7415 @Beach Lifeguard
I loved the customs, hoping that I would not be one of those bad uns in a Pug. It could have used a bit more descriptions in the bios though and I am not sure if the arc benefitted from stretching it to 3 missions.
Cutthroat Competition #10171 @Frozen Northman
This one was very evil. Even for a dedicated villain like me. However I was less then thrilled about facing CoT that often. Which is a horrible faction to face so early in your carreer. I had also a little problem with seeing the facemaker go head to head with the CoT, not sure why, but it didn't ring through for me. -
Ooohhhh,
Starts calculating the amount of merits I would gain. Starts drooling. Yes please. Do Dayjob accolades work as well? -
One improvement that would improve game immersion. I like it, make it happen.

My choice for the best in the SO category:
#1 Twisted Tongue #1444 @Days
Because I just love the Dialogue and the humor in it. This is the Freakshow arc I had been waiting for.
#2 Teen Phalanx Forever! #67335 @PW
So very well and richly detailed, good writing to, mechanically excellent as well. This arc is a 5 star.
Some thoughts of the other nominees:
Polar Emergence neutral Government User Interface Network (PENGUIN) #29205 @Tubbius
Good arc but after the overwhelming detailing of teen phalanx I played just before this arc felt empty. Plus the humor was a bit lost on me.
Astoria in D Minor # 41565 @The Cheshire Cat
Chilling and scary. It does however suffer a bit from to small objectives in a to big map syndrome. And why the assylum? why why why?
Escalation #6143 @FemFury
Great idea and rather funny. It ended in us not being able to defeat her in the end. I fear that the endboss is just to much for SO range teams to take down and that is defeating the purpose of this category. So it didn't make my cut. -
Sure, why not. It is not as if we want to level these toons quickly to 50. However, you might consider making a special team for that purpose. Perhaps a different day?
-
Ok here are two more votes from me.
Best Comedy:
Verner von Grun's Extraordinary Extradimensional Excursions #115174 @Igor Blimey
Captain Dynamic, the Great, Faces the Great Face #190069 @Aehaed
Best Short Arc:
Becky's Revenge #60197 @New Age Ronin
Celebrity Kidnapping #1388 @PW -
Quote:Fire whips for an MM sounds interesting because I expect a whip to have less range then a pulse rifle. This could mean that the new MM is more melee combat minded perhaps?I suspect you might be wrong.

Fire whips, hot. -
The chance of ever finding the perfect partner without nasty flaws like playing WoW is a slim one. The benefits of having a bf/gf into gaming him/herself are great to. Those partners will be more inclined to understand the need to play just one more mission.
Better luck next time though. Sometimes a relationship does not match enough to make you overlook the flaws. -
Oohh Eyecandy. Yes, it looks like I need to upgrade my trusty pc and bring it out of the steamage.
-
It should be simple to reprogram the obligatory contacts with one of those nice pop ups they recently introduced for Montague and the Architect arc. This would make the normal content a lot less inconvenient.
And maybe, when they streamline the contacts (a lot) then perhaps people will stop using radio missions all the time. -
-
Sounds very interesting Ravenswing. Thanks for the update!
-
I remember then to be tough, but that tough?
I agree that it sometimes is rather annoying to have to find normal people who prove more problematic then trained super soldiers. Like those Dockworkers in Sharkhead. Shudder. -
For everyone curious to the posibilities of turning a single mission into an entire arc, check this one out. The author manages to do this wonderfully. Worth checking out even if it has not made the final in this category.
-
Grats on hitting 50 with your forum toon.
Now for the big one. Why does a big black lump carry the name Heart Attack? -
Got two accounts now. My old one for my badging, solo, friends and tf moods. And a new US one for mindless PUG fun.
-
Quote:Here it is: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=195353Well, more power to you then. However, I have absolutely no idea of what initiative you're talking about. Is there a link?
-
I would object if these winners get a special treatment just because they happen to live in the USA and can compete in the contest in the first place.
Make a contest for everyone playing this game and choose the best one for ingame rewards like dev choices, becoming cannon etc. -
Quote:Well, my arc was not nominated so you cannot vote for meWell your blackmarket wants you! arc is still one of my favourites
Wasnt able to play them tonight [went to have a drink with sister and meet her new fiance] but should get the time to play them after work quickly 2moz.

Quote:Hold your erm carrots Blue.I'm sorry, but why the heck would I give two tosses for a competition that is at the very least erroneously named and yet another slap to the face of EU players and at best another misguided delusion that USA = World?
I couldn't care less who wins it and I certainly won't be voting for it. Best of luck to the participants and enjoy it.
PS - The birthplace of Democracy (as far as recorded History goes that is) was the Greek city-states, more specifically Athens, with their one man, one vote. Of course they really meant one male citizen, one vote as slaves and women weren't allowed to express their opinion.
This is not the Developers MA Award thing that is a slap to us EU players. This is a forumite initiative. Form MA fanatics for MA fanatics. No matter if thney are USA, New Zealand or EU. In fact I have helped judge the nominees and I can assure you that there are genuine Eu players in there.
Plus a couple of really nice arcs. -

Quote:Before issue 16 and after introduction of IO's, this was not a problem for me. Nowadays however it is.This^. Pretty quickly you should have enough inf. to IO out your character by the time IOs make sense. Most of mine have enough inf. to yellow-out (and slightly orange) out by the time they hit 50. If I'm interested, then we'll see about actually putting some effort into orange/purpling them out.
Unless I just strip all the inf. and enhancements off of them and hand to someone else. Which friends are good for.
I started a few new toons. One was lucky in selling a recipe for 20 mil, another helped someone transfering info and got inf for that (not that I would not have helped without that) the last one has no way enough inf to buy SO's at 22.
Simple fact is. salvage/recipe prices dropped to such a low that it is very hard to earn enough to buy SO's let alone IO's.
