    WP/DB Help

I don't think I've ever seen a need for Focused Accuracy, myself. It's an end hog, and you can get plenty of accuracy from IOs. I've never had an issue with a lot of missing from the above build, and that's got +32% to accuracy, besides what is slotted into the powers.

When I just have one power pick available from an epic pool (which is common for my Tankers), I like to grab a hold power. It's helpful for fighting annoying mobs, which are frequent in the +40s game. WP doesn't have too much to fear from Sappers, especially with high defense, but there are other mobs that are worth taking out. It's even more useful if you fight a lot of AE mobs, which tend to have even more tricksy powers.
  2. I'd love to run this SF, haven't done it yet (and I can run a little later than usual tomorrow night). My Nin/Nin Stalker would love to join in, but I understand if my inexperience with this one disqualifies me. Still, I'd like to try it if I can.
  3. Yeah, try to get/bring as many 50s or +45s that you can. Even if you have enough 50s to have one per team, it is much, much harder if there are a lot of lowbies. Even 39-40 is pretty low, if you think about how many more powers and slots you're going to be getting. Fighting +4s with EBs and Magi running around is no picnic.

That was more for everybody, Chantress... sorry to break out the soapbox. Just ran into too many of the above issues, and noticed how much of a difference it makes when I bring a higher level character.

I wish I could join in on Friday, but that's never a good night for me. Good luck!
  4. Not sure this was supposed to be taken personally. He didn't say Stalkers couldn't do it, he said he didn't think many groups would be patient enough to do it. I'd rather agree with him for most "Master of" TFs. Those have a bit of challenge on their own, and going for all of one AT with them is an added layer of difficulty on top of that.

Stalkers can do pretty good in the mitigation department (I soloed a mob last night on the LGTF I was on when I separated from the group, so I know this well), but it would be another thing on a "Master of" run. It'd be an interesting challenge, to be sure, but I don't know if I'd have the patience for it, either.

You can easily rack up 200-300 in a single raid, and most people will stick around for a second raid once the first one is complete. Check out your server's forums and/or global chat channels for more info

As a heads up, Protector has Raid the Rikti nights every wednesday at 9pm EST (now EDT).
    ...

It is exorbitant, even with the ship raids (I do know how much better those are for merit drops). A Blaster of mine was on two ship raids, ran through every Rikti and Vanguard story arc, and two LGTFs, and he is still far short of getting all the pieces. Think he has the costume change, the AR rifle, and most of the body pieces so far. Think the remaining 2 are for 200 merits, and then the helmet has two pieces for about that much.

In one raid, if you get 200-300 pieces, that's 1-2 pieces of most of the stuff (the 50 point pieces are few and far between, most of them are 100-200 merits). That's a lot of raids just for some costume pieces, and you have to do that on each character that wants them.

I don't mind having unlockable costume stuff, I just don't like that it is so much work to get these. The Cimeroran stuff is much more reasonable, to my mind.

It really is all about the global channels as far as I can tell.
Yup, the channels help a lot, and a willingness to use the search feature. Penny mentioned the main channels on Victory earlier. You'll have to get a mod to unsilence you in the Victory Forum channel (you can see what people are saying, but not respond), but there are quite a few of them, and they're on a lot of the time.

I logged out at about 10:30 Central last night (8:30 Pacific), and I know that a Synapse TF was forming at the time, as well as another TF or so. So you will find stuff at all hours. I just know prime time during the week is about 6-10:30 PM Central.
  7. How does pulling the yellow mitos work? You shoot when and get its aggro, then run into a rikti group? Haven't seen what was going on clearly enough.

Zero deaths from this lowly stalker.
  8. From one of the interviews, we haven't seen the new tilesets for the Praetorian content "yet." So there are more on the way than the two mentioned for GR, too.

    DP question

They are there... some of them are a bit spendy, though.

Surprised you haven't had luck with the STF, though. What server are you on? I hear plenty of them running on Victory and have joined a fair amount, too. There are a few guides to running it out there, too. Read up on them and make sure your team will be up to snuff, and you should be fine. It's no Citadel TF, of course, but you should be able to do well on it with a lot of team setups.

...umm yes. They were pretty good before Castle tweaked the set a few issues back, and now they're quite good. They only never recovered if you're going to compare them to the pre-ED and GDN days, but no one is quite at that level, either.

  12. Not sure what was up with Honoree there. I thought we were having a hard time dropping him fast enough, but then I realized only about half of us were attacking him... was much different once all eight of us were slicing and dicing away.

Made it to 50 with my Stalker, too- my first level 50 villain outside of Isos. Think I've been working on him for a year or two.

Aid Self is kind of nice for really dire situations where you are taking more damage than you can handle... I usually get out of LOS and use it quick, but it isn't very often. Frankly, WP with Tough and Weave + IO bonuses is just crazy durable.

I could see grabbing Swift and Health so you can run faster and get evn more regen, but for that build, Aid Self or SoW would help a lot more in that regard. If that build can't take a situation, a bit more regen on top of what he has is not going to cut it.

And as usual, we're disagreeing about Stamina on a WP Tank. To me, the great bonus of WP is NOT having to grab Stamina. On that build, Bladed Justice has 111 endurance and recovers 2.37 end/sec. I haven't found a time where he runs out of endurance with that setup. Solo, he doesn't need both Tough and Weave, so you turn off Tough (though he could have both up if needed). On a team, he's able to steam along with everyone just fine. I don't ever find myself wishing for more with him, to be honest.

His high defenses make it so he doesn't get hit much, or have end drain land on him much.
  15. For what it's worth, here's my two cents: I see damage as icing on the cake. +defense and +recharge are more important on my Blasters, but I like fitting in what +damage I can as well. It starts you off from a more powerful base to build Defiance off of, popping reds, etc. It shouldn't be sought out over certain other characteristics, but it is a worthwhile thing to add in.

    DP question

While solo, definitely make use of your mitigation powers. There is a dramatic difference on my Blasters when I just try to kill everything quickly, and when I take a couple of seconds to take the lieutenant out of the fight and drop everything else quickly. My health doesn't get dinged so much, etc. Even with good defense numbers, it's wise to use them.

Yeah, it kind of makes me sad, especially with bigger foes... it's hard to line up their hit boxes nicely with smaller targets near them (like Warwolves next to smaller foes in the Council, for instance). I've often been surprised that I didn't hit two foes that were directly in line (or so it seems) in front of me because of this. I understand why Castle needed to fix how those cones worked (you used to be able to jig a bit to the side and server lag or something would make it easier to catch targets in the cone, for those that don't know), but I rather wish the angle was about 5 degrees wider.

It is a bit too difficult to hit more than one target with those. If I'm going to take the time to sidestep and line up targets, the cone should reliably work. I know there are people that don't even bother, so I'd like it to work more reliably.

Given all that, I'm assuming I can make Piercing Rounds hit two targets most of the time, but I wouldn't hope for more, unless they're nicely lined up on the Cim wall or are in a really large group around a tank.

The alternative would be to swap it with Strength of Will. But I find that SoW is important for survival before Tough and Weave are in place.
You can fit in 1K Cuts just fine at 38, AND get Tough and Weave before the 45+ range, though. I'll put up my WP/DB build that did it. There's a few slots that are wonky that I think I actually placed differently, but the power order is correct.

  19. Developers have stated that ED and GDN needed to happen, as characters were far too powerful, and that the developers really didn't have "anything more to give us," given that setup (I honestly can't remember who said this, but it was said... I particularly remember that phrasing). The IO system was a long time in coming, but it could only have come into play with those major adjustments to the game.

There have been some nerfs and adjustments to the game that I disagree with, but ED and GDN weren't among them. The only bad thing there was how they were brought out to the population.
  20. I was thinking I didn't have any sword users that were high enough. But then I remembered I had a DB Tanker and a Nin/Nin Stalker. Put me down as a maybe with the Stalker.
  21. Did Fiery Embrace really used to have a 30 second duration? I don't remember that at all! Man, that makes me even sadder about Fiery Embrace. Poor Fiery Aura still feels like it's been kicked around for the old farming days.

Sure, it's a solid set, but Fiery Embrace and Burn still make me a little sad.

That would be fun. Shields along with Super Strength does this now for some of the powers, too. I believe punch interchanges using your free hand, and then smashing down with the shield. Good stuff.

The Victory Section of the forums does post events and such. There are things going on for various days and times.
Also, there are global channels - Victory Forum, Victory Badges (currently full), and Victory Badges 2009 that have stuff going on. Between those 3 channels, I usually find enough players to make teams or start S/TFs.
Yeah, this. Sounds like jayy gave up without a whimper and gave into the lurid call of Freedom. Which makes no sense... Victory has teams going all through the day (I know, I see teams forming for missions and TFs in the evening and during the day when I poke my head in).

But apparently not everyone hanging out in PI and AP means our server is dead?

It's also important to note when you're playing. It's quieter late at night, and Victory is more of an east coast/midwest server. There are fewer people after about 10:30 PM Central. During the day, a lot of people are at work, too (though as I said, people are around then, too).

I know a lot of people hide, too. I'll shout out that I'm forming a team on server channels, and I'll get tells from people that want in, and those people seem to be hiding (they're not listed on the channel, and I know they are a part of that channel). Instances also make a difference for population levels. Unless you're hanging out in Wentworth's in AP, Talos, or Cap Au Diable, you probably won't see large groupings of people all the time.

    Good Good Friday

Ummm, wow. Hi, Voo. Who do you preach for, the little voices in your head?

Enjoy your day off, though. I'll be off teaching and grading most of the day, so good luck with your project.
