Why are people angsty about the new channel options? Or is it something else? Feel free to linky me if you wish, but I didn't find it in a quick scan.
-
Hmmmm, could probably join in if it seemed like we could get it done in two hours. As usual, have that tight time frame on weekdays.
-
AFAIK, he found something that he thought would work to help with redraw, but then hit another snag with whatever the solution was, so it's back to the drawing board for that (whenever he has time). As best as I can remember, anyway.
It wasn't that long ago... maybe 2-3 months. You might be able to find the post still. -
Eyeball strike force? Which one is this?

I think the lowbie levels redside are probably going to be more quiet these days as people wait for Demon Summoning to come out... I could see people waiting to start any villain because of it as well: I would guess that there will be a lot of people starting out redside whenever it hits. Also, there are some people who are waiting for GR to start out any lowbies again as well.
I'm in a bit of a fix with creating any new characters, personally, since I'm out of slots on Victory and don't really like playing much on other servers. I really hope GR gives it more slots. As it is, I'll have two lowbies starting up with GR (Pistols Blaster and Elec/Elec Brute I want to start in Praetoria and then bring to Paragon). I do have a Cold/Storm Corrupter concept that I'd like to start up, but again, I need the slots.
Shout out in our server's channels and get teams going, though. There should be people you can team with villainside, especially if they know you are running a team. I do have a level 15 Dominator and a 26 VEAT, for instance... and I would highly doubt that I'm one of the few people with villains in that range. -
If you look in the upper righthand corner, there is a button for setting the numbers displayed to either PvE or PvP. The changes can be pretty dramatic (you only get 2-3 seconds of mez from a hold in PvP, for instance, when those are usually 10+ seconds in PvE), so make sure you have the right one selected for what you want to do.
And enjoy... playing with builds in Mid's is like a fun mini-game in itself... at least to me. -
Perhaps a small button leading to the tutorial info that you can click in the enhancement screen would be a good idea, but I don't know that we need much more.
Real numbers was the real thing that was needed to make our choices more clear, actually. They let us know the difference between powers and how they work. Now, we have the tutorial info, right clicking for more info, and real numbers. Being able to access the tutorial info at any time (if people hastily, impatiently, or accidentally skipped through it too fast) is pretty much the only other facet that is really needed.
Otherwise, I was able to figure it out from playing and in-game information: I don't think our game is too complicated. I've played Star Trek Online, and believe me, it can be a LOT more confusing. Much harder to figure out what helps what out over there. -
Go for it. I usually plan things out for a character before making them, and then adjust as play experience dictates. It's always good to see what other people come up with, too. I'm guessing I'll want Power Sink, too: there are times where I debate if I want Consume on my Earth/Storm Controller via his APPs.
I may have to play with it if I think I need more defense or not. ~30% ranged works well on my Earth/Storm Controller and my Blasters, but there isn't as much KB and -to hit in Ice/Storm as my other combos. Though I can add in Hurricane if it seems like I need it (though the end use on this build is worrying already). -
Fire, sorry if this was covered a little bit by other people, but keep in mind that the setting your missions to +8 is not the only setting we got with SSK. With my more ST focused characters, I tend to raise their levels more than the amount of heroes/villains I am considered. The challenge level does go up, as do the rewards.
Even with those settings, my MA/Regen Scrapper and Nin/Nin Stalker tend to bust through missions with a good amount of challenge and leveling plenty fast.
AOE is quite useful, but it's not everything. I tend to not like exemping my Fire/Fire Tank below 35, as I really do notice his lower ST damage when he loses both Incinerate and Greater Fire Sword. There are plenty of hard targets in the game, and ST damage is what you want there.
Energy Melee may need a little something to make it fly better, but it isn't that bad, especially when you try it out with the right expectations. -
I'm thinking of giving a Corrupter a go soon, and I'm trying to find something I will like. I know I generally don't like buffing powersets (applying shields really gets old for me... but I like "sticking it" to the mobs with damage or debuffs), so Ice/Storm sounds pretty good to me. I do have an Earth/Storm Controller, so I know that I find Storm to be a fun set.
It does feel a little light on the AOE damage, but the slows and holds seem like they will make this build quite useful on teams and soloing small mobs. I'll toss up the build I'm thinking of going with (I don't really go into Purple sets, FYI), but feel free to let me know what you think of the combo. Is it as good as it seems it would be?

And some people like what they like. This is much more of a play what you want scenario.
I tend to do that, as I like it when other people are willing to jump in the tanker or eat the alpha role. I play plenty of Tankers, but I want to be able to give other ATs a spin, too. As it is, I usually find myself keeping a fast, aggressive pace with no matter what AT I play, so it's great when another Tanker will do that (kind of sad for the blaster to be more willing to engage in combat than the Tanker).
So yeah, good tankers are sometimes not always there. I know I had to stick in Dwarf form far more than I should have had to as I was leveling my tri-form Peacebringer. So I like it when there are others to count on for the role of tank. -
Yeah, you should know what your toggles do, but most of them aren't going to be annoying. Main ones you usually hear about are when people cast invisibility on the whole team (without asking), which can be bad for hostage situations or for Tanks. AOE Stealth powers like Steamy Mist are usually just fine, unless you have a hostage.
Group fly can be potentially annoying if your teammates don't want to be force into flight (people usually want to be able to move about as they want), but that's rare. I don't think I've seen Group Fly on a character in... years. -
Quote:The devs have stated that they are going to do this. My guess is that there will be pros and cons to all the gradations. But it's all guesswork at this point... there are a lot of details the devs have not released yet.I still hope there will be a reward for the "pure character"... The rare one that wont be going grey (Vigilante or Rogue), keeping thenselves whole Hero or Villain...
Which is why all threads like this eventually degenerate... they're pointless in the long run after being discussed this much. -
Quote:Eh, I'm a bit disappointed in those. The other games have some decent looking shirts, but ours aren't all that good. The blue in the CoH one is too light (and the star would look better rimmed in blue and red, like in the name of the window for the forums). I would also think the CoV one would look better in black, with the Arachnos logo in red, like it is in game. This is a horrendous injustice! The Hero and villain shirts don't come in any women's sizes?!
I want my CoH/V Babydoll Tee! *cries*
-Rachel-
I had been wanting to find a CoH shirt for awhile and finally realized they had them separately in the merchandise section (not sure why it doesn't pop up when you look for that game's stuff directly), but to my disappointment, these don't really pass muster. Too bad, too. I would have cajoled my wife into buying one at some point. She got me a "bacon is meat candy shirt" that I saw and liked. Hehe. -
Hmmm, guess I won't know until I play it. Is this heal autohit? If it is, that is kind of, well, annoying. It's nice to be able to prepare at least and deal with that sort of thing. I know one of the guest author arcs bothered me when it featured Lieutenants with Power Sink. Nothing I could do to dodge it, and they drained your endurance ridiculously. Wasn't so bad if it was one mob, but when they were in almost every mob... ugh.
Sounds like the best solution is to remain at range, then. Elec/Elec isn't as good at range as it is at melee, but it should do fairly well. An AV might be a bit rough, but I've dropped EBs staying at range. I do hope this heal you're describing isn't autohit, though. With my build I was able to solo Nosferatu as an EB (with some inspirations), so I'd hope I could do the same with this guy if I prepared well. -
? You'll have to explain that one. I don't know anything about the new arcs... I don't like the sound of one that you can't flashback, though... kind of sucks for all my older characters that might want to do it.

I don't generally fight DE, as I hate them with a passion. They're like the Vahz to me... a weird, creepy group, and I don't enjoy them for that aspect. All their slows and emanators make them even worse.
If I was going to fight them (say, on the Numina TF), I sure wouldn't set them at +4. It's just not worth it. We'd probably still have some challenge at +2-3, and we'd go a lot faster/have more fun. If they were too easy then, I'd ratchet it up.
But hey, some people like hitting their heads... like those nightmare PUGs that had us fighting +4 CoT in the teens... couldn't hit squat with all those def debuffs and level disparagement. -
Hmmmm, yeah, hopefully they'll have options to turn things on or off with that. Not sure how it is now, but you would have thought they would do this in the first place... you're oftentimes just interested in one particular recipe (or two) that you have in your inventory, but there are some others you are holding on to or are planning on selling.

Quote:Eh, well built Fire Tanks do just fine against the Cimerorans. Brutes usually do, too, of course, but there is probably less room for error with some of them.Same could be said about an invuln brute vs a fire tanker against cimerorans, or a defense tanker vs resistance brute vs DE. =P
Why couldn't the scrapper reposition the AV so others don't get killed? That's what i do on mine and i've seen it fairly often. If the scrapper have the aggro, it can do the job equally well then the tanker, for repositionning.
For scirocco... i've yet to see a case where facing makes a difference. He keep spamming pbaoe and the Dust Devils are homing. =P
Scrappers don't usually worry about their positioning much. I do with my Scrappers, but I do know that I am weird in that respect (at least from my own experience, posters on the forums prefer "scrapperlock" and those in game just run in to mobs). Heck, not enough Tanks worry about their positioning enough, for that matter.
There are some tricks to dealing with Scirocco on the STF, but I'll let Sarrate handle those... quite impressive on the STF, that one.
On the thread, aggro management has many tools. I kind of hit on them in the four rules of Tanking in my sig. Aggro management is about timing (getting into a mob first) and positioning, as well as Gauntlet, your taunt aura, and Taunt. I wouldn't want to run without any of them if I'm tanking for a team (though you can do without Taunt for some encounters). -
I don't know of anything... can leave it running over night and while you're at work. Overnight worked on my old connection, had to get a slower one at my new apartment, but it was done DLing everything after about 10-12 hours, and it was a 1.5 MB connection.

*runs and screams in horror*
A divorce party? Must have been pretty bad if you want to celebrate that. -
Crazy... Sharks sounds a little broken then, if it's as good as AS, only from range.
Wow, so when you are suppressed, you lose your base regen (I'm assuming this is your regular character regen, not counting all your powers and bonuses)? That's... just bad. I know I get annoyed when Malta titans use that one power and drop your Regen to zero, even though you're a fracking Regen Scrapper, but that's pretty limited, not every fight you are in.
That almost makes me feel like not bothering with this.I know I'll still have all the heals and all that, but little things like that do have a tendency to bug me more than they should. I was going for more HP, too. I think I'm at about 1880 or so with that build, but I can monkey with things to see what I can get... hitting the rule of 5 with some of the +hp bonuses as well, though.
If Knockback is so useless, wouldn't Air Superiority also be bad (I know it's KU or whatever, but I don't think the number is high enough to get around meleer's KB resists)? I could go with CJ/SJ and then have room for Tough if I dumped AS/Fly. I'd like to get Tough, as I know it makes it a lot easier for a Regen to have time to hit their heals (I encountered that in PvE, so I'm sure PvP will be the same), so I'm trying to find some way to get it in there. -
Eh, I'm sure some will trim it down easily, but the thing that usually slows down the Posi TF are the patrols and defeat alls. I'm sure a well built Stalker will do okay, but it shouldn't be too different than a heroside character running it solo now.
Hopefully they'll get the merits settled well for the new version, but if it's fast, it might still be worthwhile for what you get. And if it's fun, people will want to play it: it's still possible to get people to run a Katie Hannon TF, and that's all of 9 merits. -
