Uncomfortably full as well. Hope your Thanksgiving goes/went well, all.
-
Odinn will be good to lead a Numina tomorrow, so I'm aiming for that. It doesn't take too long, so we should be able to get some latecomers to do other things if we want afterward. I'll do my best to get in at 7 Central sharp.
-
Also going to have their bonus time offer up for awhile: might go for the 6 month one if I can swing it at this point. The only one of the boosters for sale I might want is the Mac Pack, but that's probably not going to happen at this point. Kind of hope they have a sale of some things after Christmas. Might be easier to grab things then.
-
I'll be around and need to catch up anyway (darn account canceled last Tuesday, thought it was going to be good through Isos last week). Might try for a Numina if those around feel up for it. That's all Odinn needs to get his TF Commander badge.

Quote:Did you read about the new TF? You're going to be facing off the invasion right there, and in an encounter that is far more dynamic than a live event could be (to accommodate that many players at once). Having some live event with an invasion would not add much, unless they devoted a lot of development time to a new encounter. I'd rather the TF felt a lot more dramatic.Massively: Will there be any live events to herald the incoming invasion of Praetorian forces?
Melissa Bianco: We will not be hosting any Live Events, as the content in issue 19 itself represent the invasion.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I call foul. If you gonna have a war you should have an live event, or it is just a shadow war and noone knows about it.
Quote:Though I agree with you WHF, you have to admit that there has been many things that has been stated was "never going to happen", "not planned", or "not being looked at right now" that ended up happening, and with very little notice in all. I take pretty much anything Devs say on that front with a good degree of skepticism nowadays.
As pointed out by more than one person in other threads, the devs are unlikely to hand out extra slots and upset balance when there is a new Incarnate system coming out (and when the Alpha slot basically serves as a universal enhancement... the very thing players who ask for extra slots with Fitness are asking for). -
Quote:Well, a Tank in Granite can reduce some of their issues even further with the Alpha slot, keep in mind. They can add on to run speed and recharge enhancements they already have, which would make Granite less of a difficulty. Not being able to jump would still keep me leery of the set, though.both can get to softcap defense to all types without much trouble. inv will be capped to s/l res, like a stone tank would be (assumed granite), but you'll still only be carrying about half the resistance to f/c/e/n that a stone tank would.
So... technically, no. They aren't quite equal. In reality, though, I'd rather be an inv tank because they don't have all the penalties a stone tank does for that much survivability.
I'll have to see what angle I want to give my Invuln tank... whenever I get around to him. If ever. They are going to keep adding on slots to this, after all. -
Eh, if I didn't know it was a 3D raid or something, grabbing a bomb randomly seems to be the way these usually work. I like the organized approach and it's much better, but do keep in mind getting a bomb used to be a free for all. *sighs* I used to have issues with people not even announcing they had planted in a bomb, causing a mass wipe of people too near the grate.
And depending on lag, people can miss out on things in chat, etc. I know I have. Even if he did know, it's not really worth getting upset about. Earlier, I thought he was just a random player not even on a team. -
Not even sure why you would want to swoop in for a bomb plant like that, anyway. You get drops and merits for being on a team, and it makes no sense to avoid those (especially with the Alpha slot info that just came out). You probably could have reported them if you wanted, as that's pretty ridiculous.
-
Grey Pilgrim is going to be my Tank to alpha, obviously. Going Cardiac for him, mostly for the extra damage resists, but also so he can run Maneuvers without too much worry (after I19, that's one of the powers he's picking up, along with TP Friend and Build Up).
I'm going to move on to other ATs first before I get alphas for any other tanks. Crey Hunter is one of my favorite Scrappers, but my new Kin/Dark Scrapper is quite fun, too. Rech/Heal might be the route for either, or maybe damage. *shrugs*
Blasters... oy, I have no idea. I have an Arch/Dev, EM/EM, and Dual Pistols/EM that I rather like equally. I'll have to choose there. I don't think any really need more recharge, so they might go for more damage (musculature) with them.
Magistero is my obvious support character to go for. Haven't thought much about him yet, as he'll go later. Same thing for my Stalker redside and my Triform PB (not sure if he should get Musculature or Spiritual). -
Hmmm, maybe I'm just remembering the annoyance of having to fly low to use it. Sometimes it's faster just to turn it off if I'm up a little ways as well.
As I said, I don't really use Gun Drone much.I'd like to use it more, as it's a neat idea and adds to your damage, but it takes far too long to summon. I honestly wouldn't mind the summon time if the Drone remained up for a longer period of time (or permanently... it's not like mobs can't target it).
-
Well, here's mine. I first put this together way back before the adjustment to defense from IOs, so its ranged defense used to be even lower, but it worked okay for this guy. After the changes over the years and adjustments to how I like to slot, I'd like to redo it so he keeps at about the same levels for defense, but maybe adds another proc or two to his ST attacks, as that's pretty helpful. He mostly leans on his archery attacks, not needing much from Devices other than Smoke Bomb (when I remember I have it, heh), Targeting Drone, Cloaking Device, and Cal Trops when things hit the fan and I need it.
Gun Drone takes forever to set up, so I find myself not using it much (especially since you have to turn off Hover to use it). Trip Mines are nice, but I don't find myself needing them much. Both are mostly set mules for the way I play. As it is, I'd like to reslot Trip Mines to get some more Ranged defense and maybe put a slot somewhere else. I also have to rework this for inherent fitness. Probably going to get Aid Self and Teleport Friend with this guy. Maybe also dump Gun Drone (can slot Doctored Wounds for a recharge buff as well) so I can pick up Combat Jumping.
Also, Fly is not three-slotted. I can't recall what he has, but the two BotZs are enough to by flying at the cap, and you can use the slot elsewhere. Hover also has a Stealth IO, but if you want to save that slot, you can put it into a run toggle.

Yeah, that seems pretty good for Warshades. Don't know when I'll finally get my WS to that point, but I'll try for it. I don't, Musculature sounds nice for my PB, but I don't know... Cardiac would be pretty nice, too. Plenty of healing powers and PBs like recharge as well.
-
Shards drop from common mobs, so you can get them in solo play, or playing any level 50 content. So they are casual friendly, even if being casual means they will take longer to get. At least no one will be able to buy their way into them.
Now if you want to join TFs and such, you'll get the same shard drops, and the option to get common... forget the term. But you need 4 or 8 shards to make one of them. Seems good and balanced to me for an endgame system. -
Yeesh, some people have SO much money it's not even funny. PERC had better have some fabulous prizes after this!
And MP, I know why you run it, I even clarified what the funds were going to for some people on channels.I just feel goofy about it at the same time. I debated auctioning myself again, but I know my playtimes are restrictive enough that I don't know if I felt okay about that.
Got Tal his MoITF badge last year after being auctioned off, but I did feel bad only being able to try for it on certain nights (even if we got it on the first try). -
Quote:It's pretty typical of their press interviews. Unless they have an article specifically about new stuff, they won't say much, and usually the details there are saved until later. When you're marketing, you paint with a broad brush.Nice dodging of the questions. Basically it boils down to this:
Post: Other games graphics leave you in the dust, are you planning more than Ultra Mode?
WW: Ultra mode looks nice, doesn't it?
Post: CoV had way more new costumes than Going Rogue, what's up with that?
WW: The GR costumes look nice, don't they?
Frankly, the graphics question was a little... harsh? Not quite the right word, but graphics were just updated, and done so in a way that older systems could still run the game. Basically, that question trivialized something that was actually a substantial boost to the game, and also ignores that the game without Ultra mode still looked okay.
I still remember when I updated my graphics card about 1 3/4 years ago and I could turn up the graphics (that we had then) to the top. Everything looked much, much better. Ultra mode added to that, and I can't have all the buttons to 11, so things do look pretty good.
Basically, that question hit on an issue a lot of people have with graphics. Many think a new game should push any current tech to the edge, not matter if those graphics are worth it. Whereas others would prefer an interesting style, and especially one that did not require a new system every two years. Of the Zelda games in the past 10 years, the best looking is Wind Waker, even though people at the time complained about its style. Yet it will continue to age better than the more realistic looking Zelda games.
I'd rather CoX kept its own look and added on to it in ways that all players can keep up with. Heck, I'm amazed that people want MMOs to have bleeding edge graphics. I'd say CoX and WoW show that it's better to not go for that ragged edge. -
I've actually taken to saving most TFs until the late 20s and 30s, and focusing on the story arcs I haven't done in awhile. Gives me a little variety.
I don't really care about safeguards as I find them far too repetitive. Personally, that's my least favorite thing about redside is that you HAVE to do those to get contacts and and Accolade. Blech. -
Quote:I'll field this one; because they're damn knaves.
You can out level 90+ percent of the pre-35 content just on task forces. Even worse if you factor in Safeguard cycle every five levels, plus people who do any Tip missions (for the content or just for some A-merits). And then you have the story arcs in this level range in which people miss nearly all of it.
I know that they probably wanted new people to go from Praetoria and have newer story arcs, but for some reason the Midnighter Arcs blueside are only 20-25, which makes no sense. And then they have the new clone ones, and now more for I19.
Striga and Croatoa were already pretty decent as well, so they have WAY too much stuff in that level range. I rather thought the I17 ones were a little iffy, but now it's way over the top. Really hope that story arcs in other ranges is on their radar. *sighs* But I hope that with every issue. -
Good turnout, looked like. What all did everyone go for, or at least the mods? Always curious.
Auction goes on for longer than I can really hang around (or I don't get any play time in), but it was nice to hang out for awhile. The extra prizes for everyone hanging out was a great idea as well. Makes it fun to hang out even if you aren't bidding (or up for auction).
I still have to say the experience is a little goofy. I'm not too picky about who I team with, so I hardly have to be auctioned off, heh. -
Yes, well... it was a bit overpowered.
Storm is still a great set, and Lightning Storm fires pretty regularly.
-
MG... I don't always have time for TFs, nor do I want to always run them. You can get shard drops from common mobs no matter what content you do in the 50 range.
It'd be nice if they actually put some new story arcs in the 40-50 range, admittedly. Not sure why they are putting yet more arcs in the 20-30 range. That range has more than enough variety... they need more in the 30s and 40s, sheesh.
But still, run tip missions with your 50s and you'll get shards plus A-merits. Cheer up, Mental, I have things I wish the devs would do, but the Incarnate system is casual friendly, like IOs are. It can take longer for a casual person to do it, but at least you can do it. It's not like you're SoL on endgame stuff like you would be in WoW if you don't have time to raid 24/7. -
Quote:Yes, that was removed a long while ago. I recall the complaints about it. If +recharge in the power is still upping the attack rate, I think that is a bug (it's only supposed to lower the recharge of activating the power again). Is this still the case? Memory has it about 2 years ago Lighting Storm got patched so it no longer inherented the caster recharge buff. Global Recharge, Hasten, etc. If that's broken, or that policy about LS has changed I need to bust out my stormies.
There's a reason those recharge intensive pet sets aren't expensive as they used to be. -

Quote:That's why all the level 50 TFs got reward table windows at the end with GR/I18: it was a preparatory thing for the salvage option.O'rly. That changes things a bit.... Only for that, or for all the TF's, including Kaaaahahhhnnnn?
Kind of too bad, but I'm not going to put all my alts through the Incarnate stuff, so I'll still get merits and Hami-Os with some of them. -
Ham, if the alpha slot stuff remains the same, all the salvage, etc., is character locked, but not locked in to your alpha slot.
I dunno. Might see if we can run a raid Saturday night to get some merits together for people. Think Grey Pilgrim is sitting on a fair amount now (don't really bother with HVAS, and he got the salvage boost a long while ago), but I'm sure I wouldn't mind getting more. Or I might try getting more on the Scrapper or Blaster I'm going to try to get an alpha slot.
*added*
Here's some info from poster Cende in the Open Beta page, about costs and what things unlock. Also an FYI, we can only unlock the first two Alpha slot levels with what is in I19 now.
There are no "rare salvage materials." It's all Shards. Shards drop from any enemy of level 50 or higher (NOT "they con better than grey to my level 50" but MUST BE level 50 or higher).
4 Shards combine into 1 common Component. You can also get common Components as rewards from certain high-level task forces or, for one, through purchase with Vanguard Merits (each piece may only be earned once every 18 hours).
Uncommon Components require 1 common Component + 8 Shards.
One common Boost requires 3 common Components. One uncommon Boost requires a common Boost, 1 uncommon Component and 2 common Components.
I forget offhand what the rares and ultra-rares require, but it's along those same lines.
You may have 1 of each Component, and swap them in and out whenever you'd like, as long as (a) you weren't JUST in battle (there is a cool-down), (b) you are not CURRENTLY in battle, or (c) you didn't just change one out (must wait 5 minutes between Component swaps).
So that's the long answer to the question.
The short answer is: Yeah, no problem, you can earn the salvage for the rares and ultra-rares and store it all up.
Oh, also - the Shards and Components are Bonded on Acquisition, so no trading.
