  1. Ugh, I just don't know what to go for this with my Tanks... Barrier does get watered down, but extra defense and resists on top of what I already have looks might tasty, especially since I went Cardiac on my two Alpha'd tankers. When other people use it, I see my S/L at 90% resistance for awhile on my Fiery Aura Tank. Me likey that, especially with all the cursed buffs for to hit that are around in the Lambda.

Still, this sounds pretty darn nice, too. Hmmmm.
  2. Well, if you are supported well enough, you can survive through being sequestered... I've seen it done. But outside of that, you and other aggro managers should be able to juggle the AVs: another tank or Brute should be able to pull your aggro, especially if you get out of melee with them and they stay in melee range. These AVs seem more than willing to move around a bit, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
  3. You call lightning down from the sky and it chains across multiple targets, yet you call that not discernible? I notice it whenever someone uses it... but maybe things have been really busy when you fired it off? Ionic and Pyronic are both pretty spectacular with how they look.

Anyway, I sincerely hope that they shift rewards to going across leagues... this was a huge oversight on their part. I would say teams should be balanced anyway (and most leaders are doing that), but until then, beware of how rewards are parceled out and make sure to let people know and have duties parceled out. Be especially careful of any team leaders suggesting them and 3-4 other people handle the adds. I can't imagine any decent leaders on Victory doing this, but someone in the Suggestions thread has had this happen.

Anyone, for the merit debate... I'm holding on to a few astral merits since we may be able to buy something with them eventually, but I cash in most. Do NOT, however, cash in empyrean merits, unless you are using them for rare salvage. If you don't use empyrean merits, you will have to pay scads of influence for your rare and very rare tiers of the new incarnate slots... and I think even most diehard marketeers would want to think a little before dropping 500 million on a purchase. Nor are most of us in that category.
  4. I hope Posi at least gets the WST again soon. I like seeing these shift around and hate to see Sister Psyche back again so soon (and the ITF, for that matter).

I'd get some player notes on that jerk and remind myself never to play with them again. No reason for that whatsoever.

I can't agree to this suggestion enough: either we are working together as a league, or not. No need to separate things out, so give rewards to all.
  6. Hmmm, interesting. Supposedly interface is only supposed to work with damaging powers, so only auras that do damage, etc. This is interesting, if it sticks around... though I'd hate to plan on it much.

Hmmmm, that could be it. Oddly enough, the prisoners seem to jump all over and lag for me more than other portions of the BAF Trial.

Doesn't really help much in the meantime, though. And there weren't any issue with the Alpha slot in saying "wait for more!" Mentally, I can tell myself to do other stuff. But then I would like to have more players with the fun new powers... it's the way the game is: and I really hate that this new system works so strongly against the alt system the game has encouraged up until now. Meh, I've said that more than enough, don't want to get too broken recordish.

Of the two trials, I find Lambda to be more fun and interesting. There is plenty going on in a BAF, of course, and I have lucked out in being on Masque and MP led teams for those (which means they're well-coordinated and usually have a bunch of good players on them), but Lambda seems to be a lot more dynamic and interesting, kind of like Des mentioned. It feels more... l33t or something, like Apex and Tin Mage do. BAF starts out interesting, with a feeling of being on a covert op, but it kind of drops away from that. I dunno, I might find it more fun when people feel tough enough to take on the AVs where they spawn in, though getting the "Strong and Pretty" badge seems a good challenge no matter where you do it.

For people who DC, the nice thing would be to wait a few minutes, just like everything else. If I don't see someone for a few minutes while forming for a TF, I assume it was a big crash and they couldn't recover: I'm not going to make a bunch of people wait longer when we have no clue what is going on for just one person.

I can see what you mean about the time for the effort of forming for these, Masque, but at the same time, it's kind of nice that they don't take hours to do. CoP would probably feel more worth it if it rewarded more as well.
  9. Hurricane is... weird. Things can get pushed around by it easily and it should work well, but then other stuff is able to run into it and smack you before getting knocked back... seems a little self-defeating for such an end draining power (and when that is its main use).

Are you sure they were minions not getting knocked back? Of course a Stormy should have other stuff going that will stop or slow down the minions, but I would find it a little troubling that Hurricane isn't working as it should in this instance. It might have to do with pulses for the kb in the power, but I dunno... other times that doesn't seem to happen, as I said earlier.
  10. Just an FYI, if you're more in to drops or getting more incarnate xp on BAF, you can try to get more drops in the AV phases. If your team can handle it, you can keep the AVs ticking and drop the adds as they come in: there is a building on the north side of the tennis courts that you can get up against and make this easier.

Got a lot more Incarnate XP in a run when doing this, though of course it does make the trial longer. So if you're just in it for the rewards at the end, it's not as worth it.
  11. I wonder if it's bugged and we're not supposed to slow them at all. There are a few things that are acting goofy with the new stuff.

Rule #1 of the new iTrials: Groups that stay together win.

And it doesn't hurt to already be Alpha'd +1.
Yup, teams really need to stick together: that's really the ticket for these. There's a lot of buffing and exotic damage flying around against you, so they are really not go it alone ventures. Once you figure out where things are for Lambda, make sure you coordinate with team members... on the one run I've done (on my Fire Tank) we had a few people know where things were in the warehouse, and they basically ditched people that didn't know where things were as well, which made it more difficult than it should have been.

Reading up on strategies and working with team leaders helps with all that, too.
  13. Yeah, slows seem to be weird on these. I thought that both types of escapees were being affected by the Glue Arrow (and maybe Oil Slick) that was being at the exit during my one BAF run with MP. But I was not watching closely enough to be sure, as it was my first run. I actually had to work the far western path quite a bit with another Brute, as a lot of people were squeaking through. We were getting them, though (would have been easier without the lag).

You mainly have to be focused and organized, and stick together on these. I have been on one BAF and one Lambda, and both were successes. With both, we had vocal leaders and people followed what they said. Any issues came from not listening or getting apart from the group. My team got too spread out on the collection phase of the Lambda run, so that was far more helter skelter than it should have been. Those Battle Drones made facing +3s solo or duoed with GP no fun.

Whenever we were together, not so many issues. I think having someone call out before they through a pacification grenade on Marauder would be good, though... I only had one grenade and I was always scared to use it in case someone else was about to.

    Thanks.

I just like playing City of Heroes, so I can enjoy most things as long as I'm having fun playing with the other people in the group. Rare exceptions are fighting Hamidon mobs in regular missions (hate those guys) and playing low level villainside.
  15. I did ASK what is so bad about the SF. People really haven't been talking about it in any particulars, just saying they don't like it. I don't really have any issues with Infernal as an AV, even though he is in another SF. I guess I'd have to see how they bring him in.
  16. What's so bad about the villain SF? Just that there aren't any new maps, or is the story not interesting? It sounds like the Admiral Sutter one is pretty nifty, so I know I want to check that one out.

Even if it's just slightly less cool, these things can cut both ways. Ray Cooling's arc is fairly interesting, but the villainside equivalent for that one has that awesome Midnighter's map. I know it's technically a reworking of an office map, but the retooling is dramatic enough to make it quite fun to play through.

This was discussed to death in the beta forums. Saying "for now" doesn't mean squat for a long time in the foreseeable future. We have no clue when more trials or more content will be allowed to let threads drop (and issues are months apart). And considering they sprang a new currency and gated content for this round of incarnate slots, I am guessing they are going to do it yet again for the next round.

And don't get me wrong, I'm an optimistic person. But after the setup for threads that is live went through, I'm not going to think positively about how they are going to gate this future stuff.

Again, "for now," really isn't helpful when it means this is it for months and possibly even longer. That's like someone complaining there was no really loot system for CoH at launch (or even I3 or whenever they mentioned stuff about the system that was scrapped before IOs), and someone saying "for now." You can't develop and expect players to be hopeful that more stuff is coming down the pike.

I disagreed with Statesman on just about everything, but he has said in interviews more than once that "you are what you have at launch." That first impression can be killer.

You'll still need the appropriate Incarnate XP to get the slots open, but technically you are able to move forward after that without touching the two new pieces of content. Of course, it's not as easy to do so, but it is possible.
You need far more threads than shards, so if you expect to progress using shards and the conversion rate, expect your progress to be rather miniscule. Assuming you don't want to get hit with the conversion penalty, your 10 shards will get you half of a component. Compare that to Gra'i Matter, which has a similar timer but gets you an entire component.

I'm sure a few people have a bunch of shards banked and can use more of them to help out, but you have to be kidding yourself if you think getting shards will allow you to progress on the new stuff even close to what you could for the alpha. The math just doesn't support it.

We tossed out numerous ideas to get around this issue in the beta forums and nothing budged after they upped the transfer rate. Maybe they will eventually bring in threads to more content, but that gets the same reply as the "for now" above. It doesn't help now, and it doesn't change the fact that I have to run much less content to get anywhere with the new slots. Even if I 100% love the new trials, I don't want to run them as much as I will need to on all the characters I want to go incarnate with.
  18. Everyone still going to be wanting to run with Isos tonight, or are people wanting to try out all the new stuff? We usually still run, but I thought I would ask and see what people would be up to.
  19. Excited to get in on these. I am quite unhappy that threads and progress on the new slots is only limited to two pieces of content, but I'm still curious to see how they work. Might try for one on Wednesday after playing with Isos for awhile.

I think there will be a learning curve with this, then most will be okay, though. I know even the halloween event was challenging before people knew how it worked, but once you had enough bodies and someone calling out strategy, it was all gravy.
  20. Arcana, for some reason I thought the initial big hit from the new Burn required a to-hit check, but the dot afterwards did not. I guess I'm wrong in that? I could have sworn I read that somewhere, though.
  21. Ah, part of the problem with that build was I didn't have accolades turned on. With those turned on and the Miracle, I'm doing pretty well for endurance use.

I'll see how this guy does without a Kismet, and probably add that in for one of the last slots if it seems like it is needed. I mostly like adding those in for the new Incarnate stuff against 54s (or even Cimerorans), as it's useful there. I'll also see how this guy does without the Miracle in Physical Perfection as well, as I wouldn't mind more Regen. Sometimes it's easier to have a feel for things after playing it in game. I have and Earth/Storm Controller that I thought would be okay for end use from what I could see in Mid's, but in reality, he got drained fast. Picking up Consume helped, but Cardiac was even better.
  22. Sheesh, that is too bad that the numbers are still off. I'd hate for people to get the wrong impression of how the power works.

Globals are back and I can still see open slots for me, so I guess it is unrelated to the global issue they had earlier. Not sure what is up.

D'oh! I was so hoping, especially when there were seven of them and all, what with the upcoming anniversary.

Thanks for the update at least. You should pass it on that we would be... extremely happy customers if we had some more slots sent our way, though. My jaw dropped when I saw this and I was extremely happy... even though the man in me of Swedish descent and Midwestern upbringing told me not to hope for too much.

    *added*

Dromio, I have used all the slots I have earned via GR and vet rewards, so it's not a matter of redeeming. It might just be the number of slots you have earned over the years. Seven might be right for my vet rewards and how many I earned through GR.
  25. Thanks for reposting the guide here, it'll help. Not enough numbers info elsewhere, that I can find. Are there any solid numbers on what the pets can do for you as support and such? Or is it pretty much going to be like the characters on the wiki?
