    To Free's Bush

I wouldn't worry about it too much I know Free is the forgiving type. I managed to pass out with my face on the keyboard once during a "drinking" TF. 20 Minutes of repeated "Wake Up you *******!" over teamspeak managed to get me to carry on - but I paid for it at work the next day.
  2. Would cleaning/adding line work to the original be acceptable? I'm not suggesting changing details per se, more just adding thickness and weight to some of it.
Would you want any background detail or not?

    Global Friends

I was hoping not to have to use these boards, but I guess this is going to be the easiest way to get back in touch with a lot of folks on Union. I have reactivated my account and found that all my global friends have disappeared...

It appears that a lot of people that had my global STILL have my global - whereas mine is blank... if you still want me on your global, please delete @Green Jet from your list and reinvite me when you get the chance.

Thanks, and I'll see you in game.

    Stone Solid Gone

My subscription expires on the 26th of this month and I won't be renewing it. Just wanted to take this opportunity to say goodbye to any of those people I teamed with that aren't regularly on Teamspeak.

So, to all those on my friends list, B'bye - it was damn good fun.

    Honourable mentions go to:

    Pinkle
    Jest er
    Lifey
    Li
    Mag
    Rem
    Doc
    Clot
    Dark Kiru
    Ning
    Shannon
    Edge
    Honey Bee
    White Electro
    Max P
    SB
    Gravitera

If you aren't on mentioned, I apologise or I'm still teaming with you on WoW.

    Take care.

I won't ever turn up to a public raid again. Not because of the public spirited well meaning people that want to organise it, but the inevitable accumulation of chimps that turn up. I don't pay my subs to spend my time getting that aggravation tbh.

The Auto Healers in Eden who go afk for 10 minutes.

The Comis Geniuses whose puerile wit needs to be broadcast to all and sundry throughout the raid.

The same "I dunt av a costume wivout a cape and an aura - I dint no we needed 1" excuse repeated 30 times.

The training of monsters onto the platform "for sumthin 2 do"

The "I'm going to go down and just have a look" attack ploy.

    No thanks. Never again.

Do you have any toons by the names Pessimist or Victor Meldrew? You're bound to get the above morons, uninitiated etc, so accept it and chill out.

On a side note, looking forward to it!

REMEMBER to lessen lag, no capes no auras! And ask ahead for squad/AT colors should they be needed!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Phew! Why didn't anyone on the previous raids think of posting about not having capes and auras on the forums - we could have solved the problem completely!

The main problem you are going to face is the large number of players that will attend who never read the forums let alone a plan of the raid.

The key words in my post were "public raid" War Hero. I don't have to accept idiotic and infantile behaviour (which even you admit is inevitable) in the game and as such I won't attend a public raid again.

I wish those that attend the best of luck and I hope that you can find a way to enjoy the experience.

I will attend if I'm around that day. For what it's worth, I think it's great that you are doing this and I think there's a place for both public and private raids. Xanthus seems to manage public raids quite well on Defiant and given that the private raid didn't succeed either, it's hard to claim they're the definitive answer. I won't deny that a lag free Hamidon raid was enjoyable for a change, but I've also found the crazy 100+ people lagfests quite amusing. For a private raid, lack of controllers and specific powersets can easily become a problem. For a public one, it's lag and people not listening to instructions.

I am also a little saddened if people who have knowledge and experience of Hami raids won't turn up to public raids anymore. It's understandable but it does make us more cliquey as a community.

I would suggest that you also get someone to be the PR leader for the raid. Someone whose sole responsibility is to keep the general public aware of the progress of the raid. Raid leaders always seem to be too busy for it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think you have summed up the issues well Idris and agree with your points. I am hoping to have a holding team leader who can stay in Eden until the holding phase and keep everyone in Eden upto date with the progress. Also for them to be forming up holding teams all during the clearing process, to catch those late comers. Anyone up for the task?

  8. Aw shucks Jest, thanks for the praise. If you wanted to vote for this piece (HINT HINT) look for the thread for nominations when it's posted by Bridger...

I'll be working on it over the next few days. I really like this idea of themed stuff that we can all share - I reckon we will all be better for it.

Themed Drawing would be excellent idea Mr Swiss. Saves me having to think up junk and stuff so I'm all for it...

Count me in mate. You got my DA name already but just for anyone else's benefit: Green-Jet
  12. In response to Mother;

After getting the digital bug, I will be looking into other software as soon as I can afford it. Photoshop is the first program I could get my mitts on so that's what I'm stuck with. I am intrigued about how good this painter must be (more buttons to learn!).

I had a good look at the Wacom site and I would love to get myself a nice big Intuo3 tablet but I just can't afford one at the moment - I'm stuck with a Trust 4200 - which to stick with your previous analogy is I'm sure like comparing a motorised scooter to an Aston Martin Vantage...

    first pic ;)

Good progression from the 1st picture submitted. The key word in your submissions and what tells me you will continue to improve is "Practice". Keep on keepin' on and you will see the difference in no time - good job!
  14. There are some good examples of hand-coloured work on these boards.

I would have to disagree with you that it takes less skill to digitally colour a piece of art. It's just a different discipline that's all. I can honestly say that the last piece that I have submitted on these boards would have taken me half the time to colour by hand. The key difference with using digital colour is flexibility. You decide that the skin colour needs a tweak after you've spent five hours masking and rendering? You can alter it - you don't have that flexibility with paint/pencils.

The application of masks and filters etc.. to obtain the desired result requires just as much creativity and technique in my opinion. If you don't have an appreciation of form, light and colour then it's not going to look good no matter how you apply it.

In closing, I think you have answered your own post though; you want more hand coloured work - get posting. I look forward to seeing any new art regardless of how it has been created.
  15. Thanks Inny & Foresight! I really enjoyed doing this one - I had some moments of utter frustration (like when my PC crashed and I hadn't saved the original layer of the Aura)but I had to really think about colour and learn a whole new way of doing things on the PC. I have got the bug now so hopefully I'll be posting more real soon.
  16. Check out the links, check out the books (I wish I still had my copy of How to Draw Marvel...) And as has been said before, practice.

If you want to improve you have to want to draw any chance you get.

Something I used to find useful as a kid was to sit down with my comic books and copy whole pages; really trying to emulate the work in front of me. In my opinion, you can learn a lot of technique that way. For me, it was that week's 2000AD that I used to pore over - whatever is your favourite, have a bash at it! Oh and as has been mentioned already, have fun. If it aint fun, you're doing it wrong!

Good luck and I'll be looking out to see if you post some stuff.
  17. This is the reason I have hardly been in CoH this weekend, but it's now finished and I am well chuffed.

I am not going to take credit for the pose of the figure, I made a pencil sketch that relied very heavily on a piccy of The Hulk that caught my eye whilst surfing the web (unfortunately without a credited artist, otherwise I would put it in this post)- however, I hope I can take some credit for the finished work it has taken me over 20 Hours - learning as I go.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gill Bates. After looking at his truly awesome website I have been really inspired to get back into my drawing and I am really enjoying it.

So I hope you guys like the picture (I will be doing more - lots more!) and any comments/criticism are most appreciated.

  18. Got Photoshop and a graphics tablet 2 days ago and decided to use an old sketch (once posted here before the wipe) as the basis for my first go at rendering an image.

    Green Jet

I'm going to try and do some proper linework to suit working on digitally and I'll post some more up as and when.

I promised to post here every day, but I have little to say.

And if that doesn't sum up a Rangers' thread I don't know what does...

    See y'all ingame.
  20. To be honest Envoy that sounds fairly basic. Most decent Tatooists would be able to blend a couple of images that you gave them to create a combined image that would be what you wanted. Say, take a picture of the three slashes and a detail of what Spidey's arm costume looks like and they would be able to fit it together. I did exactly that with my Slaine shoulder tattoo - took a celtic design I wanted and then drew a basic outline of the Tyr-Nan-Og symbol that I wanted to be placed in the centre of it - Bingo! One-off Tat!

Hope it goes well and you get what you want.

Don't worry, I'm sure the Freedom Felix or some of those dudes from the planet Kheladia will protect you from the villains...
  22. Goodbye Warlock. I haven't teamed with you in a VERY long time but I can categorically state you were in the first ever team I joined with my first ever toon. You were helpful and I certainly appreciated that. Good luck and hope to see you again sometime.
  23. Global is @Green Jet. Just let me know how much you want, anything up to about 25 million is cool.
  24. Same deal as MJ and Raz. I have started an SG for Unionites on Defiant and would like to keep us stocked with influence as much as possible. I appreciate most people don't enjoy spending hours tranferring inf so I'd suggest doing 5 mil chunks over the course of a few days... I'll be willing to trade as much as anyone is willing to spare.
  25. My comiserations Bro. That must sting a hell of a lot and I know that if that had happened with my first 50 I would be spitting mad. I would also like to say a big thankyou to Kinslayer for bringing an obscure comic book hero into the public forum and no doubt helping my brother lose the name of the toon I have had the honour of teaming with over the last year and a half. If I ever get to meet you in person I would love to thank you further.
