....or at the very least give me some good links to sites about basic drawing skills and such like?

Or some good suggestions for books and the like, particularly comic book superhero stuff?

I mean...I'm CONSTANTLY in awe of the stuff I see on here!! It's freaking awesome and I can become a fraction as good as you lot, I;'ll be happy.....then I can make my millions by competing with MMOArt

Any suggestions, gratefully received!

Hellowie!

How To Draw, The "MARVEL" Way!

I own this book, and I find it fantastic. Good for beginners and fully fledged artists.

Nice & cheap also

The Rot Hood.

Scroll down a little...

Alternatively, use your Google-fu ...

With which I found this!

Nice to see some interest. And if you're serious about learning, please start with traditional basic art.

Happy reading!

The Marvel book is good, the artwork inside is very much Marvel of a certain age - a little dated!, but look through that to the timeless advice behind the drawings.
Also may i recommend 'Drawing Dynamic Comics' by Andy Smith and also 'The DC Comics guide to Pencilling Comics' and it's sister publication 'The DC Comics Guide to Inking Comics. I'm sure these are both mentioned in the 'pointers for the Artistically challenged' thread which Blackdove mentions.
Always nice to see people stretching themselves creatively.
Whatever your ability i'm sure your drawing will come on leaps and bounds.

Also, despite only having read them and tried a few of the practice excercises once or twice, the Wizard books on 'How to draw...' are good.

As is Drawing & painting Fantasy Figures by Finlay Cowan (he of Pink Floyd album cover fame) - published by D&C.

Reminds me, I must get to drawing again myself. Nowhere near as accomplished as the artists on here but I like it - it's a very relaxing pasttime.

More tips than links to info from me ..
Try Buy a notepad thats filled with blank... or even lined paper will do. (just dont do anything too great on the lined paper...its a pain to edit out the lines )
And use that to draw on when you can if your on the phone, pretending to work etc etc. It will all help you improove if you keep at it. No one was born with it...well, except miby them folks in the east

Oh and i always end up leaning heavy with my pencil when i do anything, so ..my tip. DONT lean heavy ..it makes things more perminate. (unless its your intention to do so)

Wow!

thanks all, wasn't expecting such a response, shuld ahve know better after all these months

I will try and get a copy of the Marvel book, and hopefully the DC book (always been a massive DC fan, but I think that's for when I've practiced more )

Also, I did use my google-fu skills, but was deluged under the weight of sooooooo many sites! Didn't have a clue which ones were good and which ones weren't

I'll also have a read of the other thread, never realised in went into so much depth!

Oh, and Gill,

Check out the links, check out the books (I wish I still had my copy of How to Draw Marvel...) And as has been said before, practice.

If you want to improve you have to want to draw any chance you get.

Something I used to find useful as a kid was to sit down with my comic books and copy whole pages; really trying to emulate the work in front of me. In my opinion, you can learn a lot of technique that way. For me, it was that week's 2000AD that I used to pore over - whatever is your favourite, have a bash at it! Oh and as has been mentioned already, have fun. If it aint fun, you're doing it wrong!

Good luck and I'll be looking out to see if you post some stuff.
