I'll admit this immediately...the problem occuring here is a problem which limits my access to playing CoX. The problem is baffling, and I'm honestly angry that it's occurred twice now.
Last Wednesday my computer was left on in sleep mode. When I went to move the mouse and "wake" it, the computer responded, then immediately shut itself back down. Pressing the power button availed nothing, and I noticed the green LED on the power supply was not illuminating. I unplugged everything, plugged it all back up, and saw that the LED was shining again, but would turn off and fail to boot whenever I pressed the start button. To make a long story short an HP tech honored my 3 year warranty by coming out and installing a previously delivered replacement power supply...as that's what I surmised was causing the initial problem.
Yesterday when I came home from shutting the computer down yesterday morning, I had the same "start button doesn't turn the computer on" problem. Again. Only this time, nothing I did would illuminate the LED for the power supply. Instead of replacing the power supply again, HP wants me to spot check the perepherals and mother board against the power supply...something I'm not entirely keen on...before they'll judge that it's the power supply again and send a tech out.
My question to you, the CoX braintrust, is...if it's NOT the power supply, what could it be? If it IS something like the motherboard pulling the wrong voltage, etc, I know I can get it repaired but that may me something as drastic as sending the computer in (which I might do after removing my hard drive for safe keeping).
Anyone have an idea what's wrong with my computer? -
Quote:DarkOne, I'm with you...it was a good episode all the way around. But an INFURIATING cliffhanger. Grrrr...Reveal on the Cheshire/Artemis relationship. Superboy exploring M'gann's tonsils. Wally being clueless. And we get to see Babs going to school with Dick. Good episode.
Mesmer - Nice catch. Not many know who Bette Kane is/was.
Yes, I caught it too. Derp. -
Quote:Ditto.

Well, I'M sold. Bring it!

Welcome back, Dread! Always good to have another cape in town. See you around!

Michelle,
Oh honey congradu-flippin'-lations. The missus and I ALSO both play CoX, and will be celebrating 8 years next month.
Here's to you and John celebrating another 9 years. Oh and when's the CoH wedding video coming out? You KNOW you wanna do one! -
I have a friend who's currently playing the OTHER superheroic game right now (no not THAT one, the one that went F2P), who wrote at least two GOOD AE arcs before she had to let her CoX membership lapse due to hardware issues.
In any event, I think it'd be a shame to "wipe the slate" of all but specially ranked AE content for exactly that reason. Yes, I realize there's a lot of crud in there...but is it worth getting rid of it all for the few jems that would fit what people have been wanting to see out of AE?
There are some that would say "yes". I say it's throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
Which you never, EVER want to do 'cause you end up with a wet and critcally injured baby... -
I second that emotion, houtex.

Welcome, Rapthorne. Freem!
(it's an in-joke) -
Thanks for the soapbox warning, Arcanaville, but a reasoned and thought out argument is always welcome.
Frankly as a long-suffering comics reader I'd have to go with the simple "don't retcon if you can rewrite". Yet the most brilliant (IMHO) comics concept of parallel universes of "Earth-1" and "Earth-2" is, itself, basically a retcon!
At some level they're going to be unavoidable, but there's no excuse for lazy writing. -

He couldn't be anyone BUT Mr. Duncan, Mesmer. Good call.

Gad between this story and the mentally deficient man who got his Superman collection ripped off, I may give up on superheroics entirely!
Naaaaaaah... -
I'm with y'all. There is no pain precious enough for the scheming SOB who robbed our boy's Superman trove.
Grrrrrrr... -
-
Actually Obs I'm totally with you on wanting both Pool and Epic powers customized. I daresay players have been squawking about it since Power Customization was originally available.

Right now I'm perfectly happy with the Origins pack (thank you devs for Bundles!), Capes Unlock, Aura Unlock, and...um...Renew and Restore, I think it is? I bought one more each of those mostly 'cause they were on sale.
I'm going to wait on Beam Rifle, but I still want it at sale price so I'm not waiting THAT much longer. Other things like the Barbarian Set haven't really piqued my interest, but the idea that I can get half the Wedding Set certainly HAS. I have few female toons, and none that would be looking at veils and wedding gowns, but who DOESN'T like to throw stuff...be it confetti or rice? -
One of my very good friends is a MAJOR Whovian, so Lord_of_Time caught my eye right away. Very sorry to hear about his passing.
We'll keep a light on in Atlas Park for you. -
What she said. Hope you stay a while, check out the new purty lights.
And by "lights" I mean "OMG look at how busy the servers are with PLAAAAAAAYERS!"
I love it. -
Okay. I've got more than five years around here...I'll chime in...
"Blah-blah Market! Rabble Rabble Market!"
Yeah, there are some things I'd like fixed about that too. Auras, f'rinstance. Kinda liked being able to start with a cape (after paying for it) though.
Other than that...Atlas is...going to take some getting used to. Sure does look heroic there though! And for your audiophiles...did you notice the sharp, thready wind sounds at the top of the tallest buildings? For that matter, WHERE WAS THAT HELICOPTER COMING FROM??
*ahem*
Staring a new toon on Exalted and beginning with the tutorial mission felt like a new experience with a comfortable friend, though I have to say I wasn't really a fan at first. That zone? That zone didn't really identify as "Galaxy City" for me when I went there. Maybe I'd have to try it again, but that could've been Anywhere Falls in Paragon City as far as I'm concerned.
After that, though? Wow...things took off with the Hellions at a rapid pace, and kept kicking up. I have yet to meet my next new contact there.
I love playing this game, but it's been a while since it's felt "new" to me like this. Overall, thank you Freemsquad. My time input to fun ratio is WAY on my side right now.
So GET BACK TA WORK, ya lousy bums! Seriously, you know there's more to do, right? We know you've got nothin' better to do than to listen to us kvetch all day, right? So get on the rest of those market issues! Whadda my wife and I give you money for each month? CAWFEE??
See you on the servers... -
Quote:You stole my idea, stealer! One of my characters is a native of GC. He's going to lose a home and a family member when it's destroyed, and it's going to hit him pretty hard (and start him on the Incarnate path out of a desire for vengeance).
No, no...I'm kidding, Megajoule. Honestly. However, my first character (and currently only 50) Johnny Lightning is Galaxy City born and raised, and his group is known in the bar band circuit there. With daughter Gemini moved away after loosing her powers, and wife Summoning Arian lost in another dimension somewhere, GC's destruction is going to affect him too. He's already taken to spending more time in the Vanguard bunker because he doesn't like "feeling alone". -
WB Ultimus. Good seeing you around again.
Just think, once you get yourself up to speed...even more changes afoot!
