Right now, it's probably the Folded Cloth belt -- my poor man's excuse for a proper Kheldian-like sash. Once Freedom launches it'll DEFINITELY be the IDF shoulders, gloves, and boots

Quick question for everyone:
If you're experiencing crash issues with the 11.8 Catalysts, did you have the 11.6 or 11.7 Catalysts installed at some point? And if so, did you fully remove them prior to installing the 11.8 Catalysts?
I ask because I've missed a couple of driver updates and thus never installed the 11.6 or 11.7 Catalysts. And I can't report having any crash issues. -
Quote:I reported my specs and that I was not having any issues because these sort of threads (ATI, in particular) tend to become incredibly negative and falsely paint a picture of there being some sort of universal problem with drivers or hardware when that's not usually the case. Not to say that there haven't been some drivers that screwed things up for all CoH players, but they've been few and far-between.I think the real question is: did you have issues before and no longer have them with 11.8?
I've played for several hours with the graphics slider all the way to the right in both beta and live, through trials and raids. No issues for me, but this computer never had issues to begin with so I didn't think it was worth reporting unless I did run into problems.
Besides, if it isn't a universal problem, reporting scenarios wherein no issues are occurring can help to eliminate non-causes, thereby strengthening the likelihood that causes can be pinpointed. -
Dunno if it's obvious from your video, but Street Justice has a couple of built-in alternate animations, similar to the way Brawl works if you have a Shield Defense character with their shield out.
Initial Strike randomly alternates between three combinations: right jab/left hook, left jab/right hook, and two straight punches.
Heavy Blow randomly alternates between a right uppercut and a left elbow smash. -
tl;dr version: expect a lot more maintenance than usual between now and a little while after I21/Freedom goes live. Once everything's sorted out and running smoothly, maintenance should again decrease.
-
Just adding my dissenting two cents' here:
I installed the WHQL 11.8 drivers the other day, and have had NO issues whatsoever. I've played on the beta server, took part of last night's training room stress testing, and done normal stuff on the live servers, and everything is running well.
Windows 7 32-bit
Intel e8400 3.0 ghz o/c to 3.6 ghz
ATI Radeon 5850 GPU
4 gigs RAM
I'll post again should thing go bad, but I've played for well over 30 minutes at a time and have had no problems. -
Just a quick note:
Their plea wasn't changed to guilty. It was changed to what's known as a Alford plea, in which they maintain their innocence while "admitting" (in this case, this word MUST be put in parentheses) that there is sufficient evidence to find them guilty. Technicalities aside, it still sucks, and it's an absolute disgrace that those involved in railroading these men - still boys at the time - into prison won't have to answer for one of the most blatant miscarriages of justice in recent American history.
This just isn't about money. It's about the ability of three men who've spent their entire adult lives wrongly incarcerated to take back some small part of the lives that were taken from them by being able to be proven unquestionably innocent. But now they can't, because they were offered their freedom in exchange for justice, and they did what anyone in their place would do. -

I don't actually understand the fan love for Johnny Blaze. He never really had any personality to love in the comics. Most comics he's limited to a few panels or a page, and several Ghost Rider books he doesn't even show up at all. Anyone could have played him, so I never minded that Cage wanted to do it.
Also, Cage has said that he had a vision when he was younger that he would one day play Ghost Rider. A VISION, PEOPLE.
As long as it's Nic Cage being Nic Cage while on fire, and the Crank guys keep their normal directorial style, this should be fun. -
Patch note from today's VIP beta build:
Quote:Back Alley Brawler should now indicate his affiliation as "Independent" instead of "Freedom Phalanx" -

So, who's invited to this VIP beta?
Is it a veteran thing? Is it "closed-open" beta since all subscribers will be VIPs when CoH:Freedom launches? -
Yeah, that's kinda' his thing.

Dear mods: Now that you've begun using filters, can you please replace the phrase "slap in the face" with something suitably ridiculous?

Quote:Jack Emmert hating is SO 2008, Vanden. Get with the times, man.You don't need to have seen him to recognize him. The hatred for this soulless creature in the shape of a man is etched into the game itself, burned by the loathesome passion of the players themselves. All who play are touched by the residual animosity imprinted in the servers by the devotees to the religion of his effigy.
And lo! to experience this ire is to know firsthand the suffering of those touched by his malice, to know instincively the visage of the one who toiled endlessly to bring ruin to all that we love, that we might one day sear him with the white-hot umbrage that his hand bestows. -
Quote:Yes they can. It's their IP; they can do anything they want to it, and for any reason (assuming that NCSoft doesn't mind, and I'm fairly sure that revamping the look of an old NPC group is something the home office doesn't care about). Really, there doesn't even need to be justification for said changes aside fro "We wanted to do it"....but you can't remove *all* of the core elements of the groups look...

It's a general EULA that gets used for most or all NCSoft games. NCCoins were a virtual currency used for games like Exteel, which was entirely microtransaction based.

Okay, yeah ... the Seed of Hamidon is HUGE. O_O
And that giant monster that was being fought in the Underground trial -- was that Praetorian Hami? OMG IT'S BIPEDAL!!! -

So we all know The Worthy in Marvel's current mega-event, FEAR ITSELF:
As the Serpent wages war across the entire Marvel Universe with the Worthy leveling everything in their path the Mighty must rise up to end their reign of chaos.
The group hasn't been revealed yet, but most are pretty obvious.
From left to right:
Ms. Marvel
Iron Fist
Dr. Strange
Iron Man
Unknown tall woman (Valkyrie or a She-hulk?)
Wolverine
Unknown woman (my personal bet is Sue Storm)
Hawkeye
Spider-Man -

I currently don't have any characters that would be re-rolled. AS for whether or not I'll play the set, it really comes down to how the "momentum" mechanic plays out in practical situations.

Quote:These are pretty much all on the money. Anti-Matter does have one more attack that I haven't seen mentioned here: Systemic Decay, which damages and/or debuffs (haven't looked at the info for a while) players who stand still for too long while in melee range of Anti-Matter. Aside from that, though, everything quoted is right on.Few things that make this not as bad as people think:
1. Anti-Matter is very squishy compared to Siege/NS/Marauder, and I'm pretty sure the disintegration has a respectable recharge on it. The first time I did the trial, Keyes was at exactly 1% HP in the last fight, and disintegrated someone to get back to 24%. And, literally before I could finish my thoughts of "Aw, ****, and I thought we were about to finish this on the first try, I wonder what kind of **** he's about to pull now", he was already back down to 1%, then dead.
2. The entanglement (red/blue orbs) is practically unnoticeable, in terms of damage.
3. The orbital cannon (whatever its actual name is) is just like the WarWalker Orbital Lance: an obvious target reticle appears on the ground, and you have plenty of time to get out of it before it fires. It also doesn't do too much damage, particularly compared to disintegration (about half a corruptor's HP) -- the main thing is that you get held for a bit before it actually fires off if you stay in the reticle too long.
4. As far as I can tell, Anti-Matter uses ZA WARUDO each time he first hits 75%, 50%, and 25% HP -- like Hamidon's blooms. It appears he doesn't actually have his natural regeneration while he's healing -- just the visible healing tics of ~1300 HP every one or two seconds. This is actually less than it sounds, when you consider point number one. He healed to full from the first one, but the second and third time he did it, the amount he healed was barely even noticeable (perhaps this was due to the team realizing what exactly to do).
Anti-Matter himself isn't a hulking beast of an AV; he just happens to have a lot of tricks at his disposal. And how those tricks are situated CAN cause some to think he has "unstoppable" attacks. For example: his time freezing is based on his HP, whereas the Obliteration beam and Disintegration are both on recharge timers, so the effects sometimes overlap. Of course, enough -recharge thrown on him will minimize the threats of Obliteration and Disintegration.
Believe me, the Keyes trial is absolutely possible to complete, and with fairly minimal trouble. It does take communication and teamwork, though. If someone knows what to do, they need to tell the rest of the league, and the league needs to listen. -
I like that the Carnival of Light appears to be the Carnies + Legacy Chain.

Nice little insight piece, Protean. Plus a Zelda reference for bonus win! Looking forward to Positron and Doc Aeon's respective pieces.
And kudos to the community and marketing teams for such great accompanying screenshots. I especially like the look of that handsome green Crab Spider in the first two pics, whomever he may be ...
