Agreed although the idea that I *must* (or even should) take the fighting pool to survive solo makes me sad.

Ahh! She's the model in the Ouroboros mission isn't she? Ok. Too bad! I was hoping it was in one of the boosters I didn't have and was going to run and buy it.

Quote:So a couple of Doctored Wounds, a couple of Crushing Impacts, and Adjusted Targeting in the Buildup along with the LotG global in MoG (2 would also give 10% regen) should be a minimal build. That would be umm... 32.5% global recharge? It also helps that she frequently runs around with a Rad controller - AM would stack on top of that I assume. I see Hasten coming... probably at 49th.Yes, Regen benefits greatly from global recharge. Your IO priorities should be recharge, recharge, more recharge, and then defense. Unfortunately, recharge is one of the most expensive things in the game to get really high. Taking Hasten and slotting for five 5% recharge bonuses is pretty much a given, though. After that, you want to pick up the Luck of the Gambler globals. Since those slot in defensive powers, at that point, you're working on both defense and recharge, which is good. At the top end, you want a bunch of purple sets.
I would think since you start with basically zero defense that slotting for defense wouldn't really help much. -
What about the boots? I don't think I've seen pointed thigh-highs like that before.

My experience (no special slotting) is that while both have more or less equal regen depending on how many enemies buff up RttC, my Regen scrapper regenerates more hit points per second consistently because of Dull Pain.
But it seems that Regen would benefit greatly from global recharge. The clicks don't last long enough and take too long to recharge. Versus EB's I'm always getting into trouble in the last 10% of the EB's hit points or so because everything is running out and hasn't recharged yet. My fight versus Shadowhunter last night was very dispiriting.
My Regen dinged 44 last night and I'm ready to do something, anything, to make her a bit better. I'd love to see a cheap build or two (if there is such a thing). That would help get me started. -
When I first started playing I had a hard time getting into the Hollows. I finally learned that, although I couldn't click on their head or chest, I could click on their feet.
I always felt like I was having to bend down and kiss their feet to get in the zone. -
Here's that 8-person spawn I mentioned earlier. It is probably meant to be two spawns but I didn't see a way to separate them and even then it has 5 in the one on the right.
Luckily they were all even-con minions. -
Quote:Yeah, I'm not familiar with the electric control set yet. All I know is that I can stay way back from the rez, and I seem fine but as soon as I move back into battle my endurance suddenly disappears - well after his rez. Maybe it's the debuff stacked on top of using powers or maybe it's some other power he's using. The self res has a heal (per player in range) and everyone in range gets a recovery debuff for the next few seconds. I don't know how significant- I hovered over it once, saw that it WAS a recovery debuff, and I think I saw "-0.34" but there was a lot going on at the time. They also have a PBAOE lightning field of some sort, possibly an immob and hold too. I think they've pretty much got Elec control powers.

The only time I use my spirit tree is when I'm taking a stand against ambushes, rikti/zombie invasions, and AV/GM fights. I don't see that changing with your proposal. However, I have to say that in long drawn-out fights like those a +Recovery added in would be a great thing and make me want to take time to drop it as soon as possible instead of "first chance I get." I'd be very happy if this was done.

I don't *think* anyone is saying they are bad, I certainly wasn't. I was just curious if anyone has come up with a good generic strategy for dealing with them when playing a melee AT. Even knowing what their powers do and what if anything to watch out for would be good. I haven't encountered them enough time to know more than "omg kill him quick from range!"

In Neverwinter Nights we could turn on a flag on a critter to mark him as "Immortal". An immortal npc can be fought and damaged all day long but you could never, by any means, remove that final hit point.
Npc's like this where you have to talk to them after a brief fight should work like those immortals.
I don't think I would have had the patience to run it 5 times. Kudos for figuring it out. -
Quote:+1 Rep... if we still had that.To me the whole dailies aspect of the alignment missions simply provides yet another method for people to gain access to rare recipes. Having multiple ways to obtain things that appeal to different playstyles can only be considered a good thing for this game. Some people are willing to trade off time for certainty or time for money. These different methods each have their pros and cons. And afterall there's no rule that says you must like or use both methods.
It is really nice for those of us who don't run TF's very often AND don't like to play the market. It really fits my playstyle a lot better than the previous methods. -
I haven't fought but a few but each time was a disaster. My storm defender never used O2 Boost so much in one mission!
Anyone have any tips for fighting them? Things to watch out for? Any idea how far you have be away from the rez before it goes off and how long you have to do it? -
Yeah, I finally broke down last night and logged on every single character and turned it off. It seemed like everytime I logged in I had to set it thinking "didn't I already do this?" so I just bit the bullet and did them all at once.

I ran the villain tip this morning where you take advantage of Boco's portal to the etheral plane. It spawned a bunch of ambushes very quickly as well (10 seconds apart sounds about right). Luckily on my stalker I was able to stand behind a wall and defeat them one after the other as they arrived but I can believe it would be a problem for support AT's, especially since they were personal ambushes (hide wasn't working).
The spawns themselves seemed fine in that mission - all minions and lieutenants until the final boss. However a previous mission spawned a lot of them. One particularly memorable spawn was a +1 Wailer queen with two +1 DE devoured bosses (red-con). Again, I was on my stalker so it wasn't a big deal and I AM set to allow bosses so I didn't think too much of it, but that would have been a frightening encounter with any support AT or even my dom if it is truly ignoring the boss setting.
Edit: That stalker is set for +0/x1 allow bosses but not AV's while running tips -
Yep, I knew it. Albtraum is fantastic. I'm jealous too.
-
BTW - Don't want to leave the wrong impression. I love the new content, the stories, the new enemies, everything about it. But I think some of the spawn points in the new maps could be looked at to prevent stacking and the ambushes toned down just a wee bit.
-
I haven't really had a terrible time. Individually the enemies seem no tougher than vahz, circle of thorn, clockwork, and hellions in the same level ranges hero-side. But I am constantly surprised at the periodic mega-spawn or ambush. They seemed designed to kill. But then I think a lot of the newer content even outside Praetoria is the same - looking at you COT City Hall ambushes from hell in Posi's new TF. I figure it is in response to all the "game is too easy" posts we get a lot of around here - thanks guys.
Yesterday I ran across a perfect example. A single spawn of Destroyers in a dead-end area with 8 even-con minions. Eight? Solo? My experience teaming in Praetoria would be that adding 1 person to the team would either - double the size to 16 or turn all 8 into lieutenants, perhaps one would be a boss. Sheesh, I feel like I'm teaming red-side where the same scaling seems to exist.
Luckily I leveled fighting the next set of 3 lieutenants () and while pumped from the leveling I ran back and killed all 8 now blue minions pretty handily, but I was frankly going to leave them behind rather than try to fight them since the mission didn't require a defeat all.
Later in the same arc I came across a big office map room with 4 4-man spawns (2 of them with lieutenants) so close together that I couldn't pull one without getting them all. Of course, I've seen the same thing hero-side, especially vs Vahz, but it is more rare I think.
Do encounters seem harder? Sometimes and then it seems overwhelming. Is it relagated to Praetoria? Not necessarily. Is it a foretelling of things to come? Hard to say but all signs point to yes. -
Quote:Not me. I already had the book on Maria Jenkins or Tina on four different characters and they are definitely and firmly stuck with the old arc, old enemies, and old maps. I wish they'd switch them out but I've been fighting shadowhunter and seige this week who I'm told are both gone in the new arc.It appears they found a way to replace missions already in the queue for GR. My Praetorian missions have all been changed to the new updated arcs, even though I was mid-arc.
They never meant for the un-timed mission to stick around--I mean, they changed it for a reason. Once the tech was implemented, the timer counted down until mission failed.
My guess is I won't get the Dimensional Warder badge either because I'm defeating the "wrong" praetorian AV's.
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread. -
I can't read them, too small.
Edit: Nvm, I see they are also listed individually. Very funny! -
Quote:That is going to be one gorgeous work of art.Agreed x4
I've arranged to get the high resolution clean pencils colored by Danielle Alexis. Be similar Pencil to Colors work like this. -
The pencils of Albtraum is... I think I'm in love. That is one fantastic piece.

Quote:Is Mother Mayhem available in the old arc? I can't tell if the wiki is for the old arc or the new one.Dimensional Warder as of I18:
Anti-Matter, Battle Maiden, Black Swan, Bobcat, Chimera, Diabolique, Dominatrix, Infernal, Malaise, Marauder, Neuron, Nightstar, Siege, Mother Mayhem
I don't suppose there is anyway to get a GM to reset the contact for me on the character that's only finished the first mission so I can start the arc over? ... nah... didn't think so. -
Probably for the same reason my 95% to-hit chance attacks seems to miss every other hit or even a couple of times in a row some days.
My scrapper sometimes encounters what you are talking about. It's why she carries more orange inspirations than purples these days. I can always hit Elude and max out defense, but if they are hitting anyway only DR & Regen can help save you. -
Maybe they force you into a Safeguard (less the walk-up contacts) to make you feel more at home since red-side you pretty much have to run Mayhems to get contacts.
Ya think?
