Quote:CoV was always going to be City of henchmen - it's the way the good vs evil dynamic has to work in an MMO like this - heroes protect, preserve and defend - so for a hero to win/be successful, they simply have to prevent things that would change the game world - but villains are all about change and destruction - for a villain to truly win/succeed, they'd have to change the game world in some way, which just isn't possible to do.Meanwhile, in the real world, City of Henchmen went live 10 issues ago.
So by drowngrading player villains to a sort of super-henchperson level, it allows them to do small scale evil, but never enough to change the game world - actual supervillains schemes, like Nemesis or Recluse try to pull off aren't possible, because they'd always have to fail, as the game world can't be changed like that.
At the absolute basic level, the CoH gameplay set up means that Heroes are destined to succeed, and Villains are destined to fail - that's just the way the gameworld is set up - Heroes can always save the world, but Villains can never conquer it. -

Quote:Actually, as a slightly more serious point, being captured by a villain, but then turning the tables on them is quite a standard superhero situation - but I think it'd be very hard to translate it into actual gameplay, because it'd force the player into a situation of not being able to react."City of Sidekicks brings a whole new way to experience Paragon City," said Lead Designer Melissa Bianco. "Instead of taking down the criminals, you get to be captured by them!"
The closst we have is when we end up in Council or CoT cells on some maps - but that still gives the option of an instant response to the situation by letting us break down the door - if that option was taken away, it'd better reflect actuallty being trapped, but it'd also mean that players would be totally cut off from having the ability to change their situation, which would be a totally unique thing to happen in the game, as we've always got at least one option to affect any situation we're in - although I think there migth be a couple of ways they could do it.
That would just be so totally harsh

I don't think the system is gender based - you're just as likely to get captured by a guy in a leather catsuit.

Well, we certainly learnt for sure which way Joel S. swung - Batgirl's suit only hinted at them - Batman and Robin had them totally highlighted

Plus, there were all those butt-shots of Batman and Robin when they suited up... -

This thread just got rather weird...
Well, weirder than before anyway

Quote:Check the whole thread, and you'll see he has had a change of hearti haven't posted in here yet so here it goes: bye bye. things change as time goes on but seeing as you are not a female(neither am i but at least i understand), you wouldn't fully understand this.
anything that can affect the game as a whole, in other words "free" content, will be released as such. UM was never flagged to be included with GR exclusively. i think it is wonderful that we are getting it early.
as for the incarnates, we just found out about those. i think the way they are introducing them is a good thing. that way they can change things based on feedback from us about what works and what doesn't. by doing this, it makes the other 9 that much better while the first can be modified in little steps to insure they have it right.

I'm not sure this is such a good idea for a thread.

Quote:The science booster is the main reason I don't think they're really thinking of adding anything like this. Can't this be done now sort of?? The science pack was the one pack I didn't get, but didn't allow you to change models and genders one your costume slots? Have one costume slot at the max height allowed, and use another slot for the minimum height allowed. I know its not quite where the OP was going, but if he was going towards this concept....

Quote:Plus, it's good in-game advertising - it shows off some GR goodies to players who mightn't know about them'Cause a lot of people have been waiting ages for one or both of those sets and by making them available NOW they get a large number of sales before the expansion is even out.
And I wanted my Pistols NOW!

Quote:He's also posted this:So, you knew about the Incarnate system when they first announced Going Rogue huh? Not anywhere before the recent announcement did they say anything about getting the full Incarnate system in Going Rogue.
You're complaining about getting content early and you're complaining about getting content later. Seriously, what is the problem? You do know that this is a MMO and content updates are a regular thing? What's the difference in getting all of the content spread out like this or having to wait until later this year for everything.
It's pointless to continue that particular topic.Quote:I was wrong.
I regret posting this question and any follow-up replies, and I apologize for wasting everyone's valuable time with misinformation.
Sorry. -

Quote:Vigilante status is still dipping your little toes into gray watersOf the 50s, probably not, actually. Doesn't "fit" them very well. At most, they'd be vigilante - and that's more likely the original (but lower level) version of one of my PBs who lives over on Virtue.

Quote:I'm sure you'll have one blue side who'll want to dip his little toes in the gray water, just to see what it's likeOoh...
Um. I've lost track. At least 13 (one of each AT/EAT except Corruptors, and that one's close.) Two controllers, two tanks, two defenders... Let's just say "a bunch." Only one planned to switch, either partially or fully, and that's my MA/Regen Stalker.

While there's a chance something like that might help keep that kind of attitude away from the rest of the forums, there's also a chance that it could encourage it to spread.
There's a PvP section, and a forum games section - it should be enough
