Frustration building

Ok just started the trial, like the game so far, figured out how to log into the game thanks to the developement forum....

Now was looking at buying the full game not sure whether Architects version or combinded edition only to find I cannot log on to my NCSoft acc. They are unable to verify my login...

Now I changed the password and can log into the game, they use the same set of info anyway, so how come I can play the game but cant buy it???

Am frustrated to say the least, dont know what to do and thought maybe some wise person would have some ideas...

Did try searching but not very successfully (though did manage to sort the game log in prob last night)

Hey there, welcome to CoX! The whole account management thing ... well, let's just say it could be simpler. Hopefully someone will be able to help you better than I. Are you *sure* you put in the information correctly? Usually your account login and password are different from your game account. In fact, I'm fairly certain the system either *strongly* suggested or maybe even required that I do it that way. Which is quite a pain because I have trouble remembering what variation of my account login stuff I used for account management.

mmmm thanks for the idea and welcome. Thought they were the same....
Maybe not

Oh heck now I have to remember what other stuff I could have used....

Your NCsoft account can use a different password than the game log-in. Changing your game password doesn't automatically change your account password.

Did you try using the first password?

Thx ......a lot I can relax now....

Honestly I'd recommend the GvE edition or the Mac edition (you don't actually need to play on a Mac). The temp powers from it you will want and are likely to buy separate any way.

Welcome!

I'm glad we were able to help.

Other future "doh!" moments:

1) Trying to enter the train via the exit doors
2) Buying Resistance enhancements, when you wanted Defense, or vice versa
3) Trying to "find" the "Lost" in King's Row (Look along the south side)

EDIT: Not that anything like that has EVER happened to me...

EVER!

Oh yeah, you'll have plenty of "I can't BELIEVE I just did that!" moments over your heroic (or villainous) career.

Shyness will pass.....I used to be shy too

The 19.99 versions adds 30 days gameplay which is true of each of the Architect, Mac and GvE versions. Booster packs for 9.99 only give you ingame items, no time.

If you go to your NCSoft account and click on the Store and then the City of Heroes tab you will see the Architect Edition for 19.99, Good vs Evil (GvE) for 19.99, Mac special edition for 19.99, City of Heroes 19.99 and City of Villains 19.99 then the various packs including the Going Rogue prepurchase. If you click on each item you can see what you get from each but all the 19.99 versions give you one month's play.

All of the various editions come with different goodies; the Good vs Evil has a very useful jump jet power and access to the Pocket D "Tiki Room" with a tailor and inspiration vendor. Architect and the Mac both include other extras, not having them in front of me right now I can't remember the exact specifics.

The "Super Booster" packs all include various goodies as well; of these the Martial Arts booster is probably the most useful with the Ninja Run power it grants you at level 4 which is basically a half strength super speed and super jump power... add Sprint and you'll have nearly base super speed at level 4.

You'll need to buy one of the 19.99 versions of the game to have the full, unrestricted version, then you can add the booster packs as you like. I'm not sure if the Going Rogue expansion qualifies as a full version of the game or not... from what I've read I'd doubt it. Given my choice of which edition I'd probably get the GvE edition goodies personally.

I had several Invulnerable Tanks that for my first six weeks or so I never took Dull Pain on, because it didn't say anything about it being a self-heal ("A few extra HP? That doesn't seem worth it.")

I was also one of those "didn't read it properly" folks that thought you HAD to go to the Hollows after level 5 and play it through.

Dec out.

I skipped Temp Invulnerability on my tanker because I didn't want a temporary invulnerability. (In my defense that was before real numbers so the descriptions read like the auto power was better.)

Oh, ouch. Yeah, that WOULD tend to make the set underperform just a wee bit

I lucked out since very early in my career I found a guide for Invuln so I had a decent build from the early levels... it did take me until the late 20's to really understand how to tank though and MUCH longer to really get all the fine points down.

Everyone has the "well Duh, that was stupid" moments in game; even those of us with years of experience still occasionally have them. "Gee, that was dumb running into that group without turning on my toggles" "Remember idiot, you're playing your BLASTER now, not your TANKER" I've done all of those and many more besides

We call that a "no pants moment" in my gaming circle. "Put your pants on", etc. are common things to say.

Mostly it happens after you die. Wake up after the fight [or during], get your health/end/whatever, charge off with no pants on...

So you think you're a hero, huh.

I was teamed with a tanker once who had no "pants".
