Plus, there's also the fact that it's very unlikely that Tyrant and his Praetorian Guard will cap at 20
-
Quote:Actually, according to the GR website:But he does so while attempting to keep order on a planet that is, by and large a blasted wasteland. Extreme times calls for extreme measures, can't make an omelette without breaking eggs, etc. etc.
Cole is a tyrant, yes. But in his mind he cannot afford not to be: He doesen't even have to just *believe* that humans left on their own without his guidance will destroy themselves: He has ample proof thereof.
So physically, the world is actually in better shape than before the Hamidon Wars - the only threat seems to be the contained Hamidon, which he's possibly using as an excuse to maintain his dictatorship.Quote:Over the next twenty five years, Emperor Cole did as he promised and more. The advancements accomplished without the threat of war and annihilation were wondrous. The devastated population of the world was replaced in a matter of years by a race of loyal robots that would become the backbone of the working force around the world - always ready to work, always on time, always precise, the Clockwork earned Dr. Raymond Keyes the Nobel Prize and a position in Emperor Cole's advisory council of Praetors.
25 years after being crowned Emperor of Earth, the nuclear wastelands of the world have returned to lush forests and farmland, cities have modernized, and the oceans have been cleansed of their pollutants. The people of the world are clothed, fed and educated, while a workforce of diligent workers allow humans to pursue more joy and happiness in their lives. He has truly created a Utopia on Earth. Ever vigilant of his subjects, the Emperor and his Praetors protect the people from all outward threats, including Cole's newest declared enemy, the breeding ground of villainy known as Primal Earth.
Emperor Cole is a savior, but others know there's more to the story that isn't written in the history books. Most citizens of Praetorian Earth respect him or even love him. Some who know the truth fear him, and fewer still dare to stand against the lies. No matter what he is called in the halls of power or history books, no one can stop the hushed whispers in the streets and back alleys of his empire where he is called by another name...Tyrant. -

I tuned in time to hear her saying "yeah, Emperor Cole is a tyrant"

I don't think it was a dev that Tweeted - I think it was one of the players who was there, relaying any new info as soon as they heard it.

Quote:I thought it was awesome and very moving.Play "Two Households Alike" (#126582) and "The Christmas We Get" (#356477) and then call me heartless.
That cut scene is a cheap reach for the heartstrings. You want a canon heroic sacrifice done right? Two words: Sefu Tendaji. What we got in this arc was strictly amateur night, the equivalent of the grade-Z horror movie Spring Loaded Cat trick. -
Quote:Hang on - I'll try and find it - it was a Tweet from Hero Con, I think. You use the word "when", inferring a near-certainty that this will happen. I'm curious.
EDIT: I can't find the Tweet, but there's a post with a list of some Hero Con Tweets here, and zone events being expanded is mentioned:

Quote:I'm really hoping they do that when they flesh out the current zone events - we could help the police more too for the Troll raves in Skyway.Super-Heroes working in relation to or alongside normal folks with "heroic" normal jobs like Fireman, Police, Construction just seems cool to me.
That idea sounds good for an entirely new mission type.
Instead of the Steel Canyon fires being the way they are, having us have to protect Firemen from Hellions would have been interesting too. But they chose a route where we directly fight the fires and defeat the Hellions ourselves. -
Quote:It'll probably go live on Monday then if it'll at least allow the markets to work again, even if you can't sell stacks yet.The patch on the Training Room seems to fix the bug. You can now bid on 10 enhancements, and a stack of 10 appears in you bought tab. Then you can get them and they're placed in your enhancement tray.
However, you can't place a stack of enhancements or inspirations up for sale -- each one is a separate slot in the market. -

Quote:I think I should point out that a "fox-hunting outfit" is actually just standard formal riding wear - boots, breeches or jodhpurs, dress shirt or blouse, hacking jacket and helmet - it's much better to call it equestrian wear, and not associate it with animal cruelty, as it can give the wrong impression of equestrians.Tally-Ho: (England) An English TA/A defender in a classic fox-hunting outfit. I have no connection to the English in an ethnic sense but I saw I could make a snazzy fox-hunting outfit in the character creator. You can't see her and not think of England but she's pure concept.

And the darkest shade of gray is black

That's the problem with trying to argue that he's just "morally gray" - there's a line between justified and unjustifed action for the common good - and the things Tyrant has done, and still continues to do, are so far past that line that his own opinion of his actions and any attempts he might make to justify them are totally irrelevant.Quote:Praetoria is not a democracy, and the people are not 'free'. Are they safe? Yes, for now, but Cole rules unilaterally, and some of his iron-handed decisions are very dictatorial.
His "psychiatric institution" leaves prisoners as "shells of their former selves...men and women who no longer remembered their families, loved ones, or even their names. All that was left inside these former patients' thoughts were memories of their time in the Psychiatric Hospital, each one more horrible than the last."
His security forces are equally bad: "when someone speaks out against Emperor Cole or Praetorian matters, the dark side of the PPD emerges, and burly, well-armed officers come into your house in the dead of night and take your loved ones away."
Superpowered people "disappear", and their familes "disappear" too if they start asking questions.
The Powers Divison forces people into service, and only 10% of them survive the indoctrination process - and the Powers Division also kills more people than the PPD, Clockwork, Seers and Praetorian Guard combined.
When the actions of Tyrant and his government reach this level, then the only thing separating him from Recluse is Recluse openly embracing what he's doing as evil, and any talk of "moral grayness" or the "common/greater good" is pointless. -
If a citizen called him Tyrant in public, that citizen would be sent to the Behavioral Adjustment Facility, or put into the care of Praetor Tilman's Mother of Mercy Psychiatric Hospital until they were cured of their problem - or if their problem seems incurable, they'd be sent on Extended Leave.
-
Quote:Although, those could just be the names they're called by the Resistance - like Marauder would only ever be called Praetor White by Loyalists, but Marauder by the Resistance.Emperor Cole.
Tyrant is the name the resistance, and the Heroes of Earth Prime use.
However, based on the comics and the "Statesman's Pal" arc I imagine that behind closed doors the Preatorian Marcus Cole embraces the Moniker Tyrant.
I mean his closest Council are Marauder, Mother Mayhem, Dominatrix, Anti-Matter. These are not names that Inspire feelings of Good and wholesome. -
Spark Blade would totally cause a frenzy of envy and begging if they gave him a unique sword and pistol combination power set

Quote:I don't think anyone's telling you to keep quite - they're just suggesting you could get your opinion accross in a more constructive way.says you..
keeping quiet doesnt solve nor help. something im sure your aware of or at least i hope you can understand
I17 was working very well on Test - but there are some things that will only ever show up on the live servers when there are thousands of people doing all kinds of stuff that beta testing just doesn't have time for - unless betas were run for months.Quote:and i unlike you would have rathered waited then to rush anything.so as your opinion is to rush it out to make a deadline that clearly it wasnt ready for mine isnt.this is a clear result on not trying hard enough to fix the things by a certain date.which they clearly have said is why they dont like to do in the first place then did anyways.
In my opinion, I think you should wait and see if they're planning anything to compensate the few players who've been having problems with I17, and if you're still unsatisfied, contact customer support.Quote:if you are a closed beta tester i see why this game is the way it is.thanks it does explain alot.so unless you can actually be helpful in getting my 45 dollars back your wasting your time and mine and i really could care aless about your opinions.
