Quote:i think your best bet would be to email the company and ask them if the case you are looking at would work. if not, ask them to give you a few suggestions. Thanks to both of you for the input. I found this video on youtube this is the cooling system that I will be installing and a guide to installing it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUxoFiFuS_g
I think I should clarify my question. As I said I'm only an intermediate builder. I'm having trouble understanding some of the specs on the case and what to look for. As you will see from the video, the rear fan that will be going into my system is a 120mm fan. I need to know if the case I decide to buy will accept a fan that large. I also need to know that my GTX 260 which is a large gpu will fit (it barely fits in my current case). I think those are the biggest questions. I don't need a case that will just look cool either. I only want it to be functional. I'm not looking for one with some space age design and glowing lights all over it. I will most likely disable any lights that do come with it. -
Quote:whatever the cause may be (if there is any "cause") people are not teaming(as far as you and op are concerned). forcing me, or anybody else that does not want to team, onto a server with more people is not going to make me team more, just tell more people "no, thank you". i like the lower pop servers, and want them to stay.Just because people keep saying something doesn't mean it's true. Even if you do know how to use the search function, you still run a real risk of only finding 30 people within 10 levels of yourself and 75% of them having LFG messages saying they only do trials and TFs (or bizarrely telling you they will purposefully get you killed if allowed on your team).
When trying to tell someone why I like this game more than most MMOs, I give an example of a random Wednesday afternoon from several years ago, where we were able to put together a successful TF pick up group with 6 strangers who had never met before or since - something I have not seen in any other game. But it's also not something I see in the game now.
Now, I don't know whether to blame any changes on lower population or simply on the effect IO sets and the new difficulty settings have had on the ability to solo content, but to say that it's not more difficult to find groups now than it used to be seems more based on wishful thinking than on anything resembling reality. -
Quote:i just got this oneI just bought a Corsair H50 liquid cooling system. When I got it home I discovered that the fan which is included is too large for my case. Rather than modify the case or use a smaller fan I've decided to get a case that it will work in but I'm only an intermediate builder. I want to make sure that I'm buying what I need before I actually make the purchase. I found this case at Newegg.com: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811147023 It's a great deal but I'm not sure that it will solve my problem. Here's the specs on my rig:
MSI K9N SLI V2 mobo
AMD 9560 2.3 Ghz quad core cpu
2 gb ram
EVGA GTX 260 gpu (1 fan)
Windows XP home edition
http://www.amazon.com/Antec-Twelve-H...sr=8-1-catcorr
only thing is that the power supply goes on the bottom. mine had been on the top so i had to get an extension for some the cords.
it has multiple placings for the motherboard, and i love it -
Quote:he's only been gone a year. i know this idea has been around a lot longer than that. i don't condone snarkiness(is that the word?), but i don't think he neeeds to be reminded of the search feature, either. This may be difficult to believe given the response you have received, but City of Heroes has one of the friendliest and most supportive communities of any MMO on the market (if not THE friendliest and most supportive). You are getting a lot of snark in response to your post, and I feel I should explain why so that it doesn't drive you away.
This suggestion is made often by new players who come from other MMOs and returning players who have been away for a while (probably playing other MMOs, which tends to color their perception of their previous City of Heroes experience), who don't understand how City of Heroes has evolved.
City of Heroes is a heavily instanced game. More than 90% of the game happens in private instances. When you see people just hanging around, it is usually because they are socializing or recruiting for teams and supergroups. The folks who are actually doing missions will only be seen for the minute or two it takes to cross the zone to get to their next mission door, and then they are off the streets again.
A few years ago, the best way to earn xp was to street sweep. Therefore, you saw tons of heroes out on the streets clearing mobs in circuits around the zones. The Devs noticed that lots of people were completely ignoring the missions that they spent much time creating. To encourage people to experience more of the game than just the streets, they took some actions; they introduced half debt if you died during an instanced mission, they increased the xp awards for instanced missions, they increased (greatly) the xp rewards for completing a story arc, they started awarding Reward Merits for completing story arcs, and they have greatly increased the quality of the writing in the stories from the first batch of arcs. All of this has taken many heroes off the streets and into the instanced missions.
This means that the "Lvl 18 Healer LFT" that used to work in broadcast isn't so effective any more. If you want on a team, you need to take some initiative and learn how to use your global channels (which probably didn't exist or were just introduced before you left) and the team search functions. You can't be afraid to form your own teams, and with supersidekicking, you don't need to play "level Tetris" to make sure you have enough mentors for any lower level recruits. In fact, you don't have to worry about exemping down either, as you now earn experience while exemped. Teaming is easier than it has ever been, provided you put forth a little bit of effort (join a Global Channel if you don't want to lead, or learn how to use Team Search if you aren't afraid of the star).
The reason you got a lot of snark was because you stepped in, looked around for a few minutes, and assumed that something was drastically wrong, and then provided a terrible solution for a problem that doesn't really exist. If you had posted something like this instead:
"Hey, I've been away from the game for a few years, and it seems like it is a lot harder to get on a team now. Does anyone else feel this way, or is it just me? Does anyone have any advice on how to get on teams more consistently? BTW, I'm on Justice server."
You would have been deluged with helpful advice on how to use the search function in game, as well as the names of the Global Channels for Justice Server. You went about it in a negative way, therefore you got negative responses.
Here's hoping that now you know why the response was so negative that you decide to stick around.

Quote:i have a nvidia 9400 and it worked fine in test, but i can't play at all now, even with everything turned down to min. wierd. maybe just the overload of playersWell, that depends on what they asked you to run. For instance there's a CoH-specific diagnostic tool that gives information that is different from what dxdiag gives. If, on the other hand, they asked you to run another dxdiag, well, then that'd obviously be the same information.
It seems clear that 3rd party programs/services (like the ATI hotkey poller) can cause this issue. Has anyone tried to see if closing other 3rd party programs/services can also help get rid of the problem?
It might be worth trying to turn off pretty much any other programs running at the time, including browsers, media players, IM clients, antivirus programs, automatic updaters, quick launchers ... (pretty much anything that puts itself in your system tray) and see if that makes any difference.
If nothing else, it could help ruling out some potential causes. -
it's more a matter if i can be patient and wait for the deal. i'm trying...........really, really trying, but i don't know if i can do it
edit: i guess that is angst, maybe it has to do with teaching my teen about being responsible with his money. whatever it is, i don't know if i am going to be able to do it -
-
i'm writing this because somtimes "voicing" what i am thinking helps. i have been waiting for demon summoning since i heard about it. i read the release notes for it, and know that i can wait and get it with the complete set, and get a free month of play. i just don' know if i can wait til it comes out. i just might have to preorder it and then buy the expansion that gets released when it goes live. i am so torn
-
i am having a few issues since live but i expected it. on test, my system ran fine with very little trouble, but i knew that once the entire playerbase jumped on to try it out that the problems would be found. i like that the dev team is quick to fix these things, and am more than willing to give them the time to do it

Quote:By this logic only people in an SG/VG would be able to unlock the Incarnate power? I'm not sure how well this would be received by people who mainly solo or don't feel the need to join an SG/VG.
Beside that, revamping the Shadow Shard is way overdue IMO. Should it be linked to the Incarnate.. maybe but I think at this time we are speculating WAY too much on what the system is and what it means to our precious lvl 50.
this is what i was thinking. i only solo, and do not belong to any sg/vg's. how would i be able to unlock the incarnates? -
this is how i feel about it. at first it irked me, but after a bit of tought it makes sense

Quote:you still havn't answered the question though. how would it hurt you if the us got the same free slots? why make it just for the eu?Under my proposal it would be 10, 5 per server.
It gets people back in time for them to experience GR and then (assuming the content's good enough) they will stay and perhaps even buy more slots.
My proposal isn't a universal panacea - it's one suggestion that I believe would help reinvigorate the EU servers.
War Witch has expressly said that there are no plans for a sever merge - and as things currently stand in the highly unlikely scenario that a list merge took place any returning EU players with maxed acounts would be forced to play on a new server to play GR content - or buy more slots.
If a server list merge takes place the EU servers would become more ghostly than Triumph.
i am not for or against it in any way. i havn't filled all the slots on any of the servers, but some have, and i don't understand the thinking of giving it to eu only. -
Quote:yeah, that's why i sorta understand. it may get them back, but like you said, once they are filled who knows. maybe they will stay because they see that gr is too good to miss, or whatever. i just don't understand why only the eu should get the free slots if ncsoft decides to go with something like thisit doesn't matter if you give slots or not. once they are filled, the people who left due to not having more slots will leave again. what is going to keep them? nothing. and i highly doubt that the devs would want to keep giving out free slots to keep people that weren't going to stay anyways.
-
Quote:how would it hurt to give it to the us as well? i sorta understand your point, give them something that would entice them back. but why not for both? if it might work for the eu, then it might work for the us as well. How would extra slots not help? If you've got a max of 12 (maybe more if you've paid for them) and you're maxed out on all of them, how could being given 5 extra slots not benefit you? If nothing else it has the potential to entice someone back to play the game until they've filled all those slots wtih 50s

Quote:i'm a bit confused. incarnate levels do not raise the level cap? what exactly are they, or could sombody pelase link me to something that explains them to me.With GR only 1 level of Incarnate will be available until I19 drops. And even then, it will only be 10 incarnate levels. Not the same as raising the level cap to 60. Similar, but not the same.
Just wanted to make sure that was clear before people go on making up rumors and the like.
thanks -
"Do you say 'good morning' to everyone you meet, and 'good evening' to everyone you interact with, and 'hello, how are you' on the phone Each and Every time you answer it, even if you've answered it 100 times before on that day"
of course i do, my mom raised me with some manners(except for the phone thing, of course i say hello, but usually save the how are you for the people i know) .
now, how do i go about setting up a macro to say "gratz" or the like?
edit: damn, forgot the "gratz" for the beautiful post, sorry pt, i'm getting old -
Quote:i found these with a quick search, they both use paypal, so there shouldn't be too many problemsI am looking for a website that sells time card codes. Not time cards, but like... I'd pay for the time card, and they'd email me the code. I have googled, but none of the results look legit; they all look like RMT fronts. Has anyone here purchased a legit code from a site?
Alternately, if anyone has a 30 or 60 day time card laying around, I can paypal you money for it.
I have a friend whose account is lapsing and would like to give him an extra little bit because City is his only hobby at the moment. He's having a rough financial period, like many people; I am doing OK right now and can afford a splurgey no-reason gift.

Quote:just wondering, would it be too much to have the team window pop up when you log in to ask what your plans are. i don't team , and i don't think it would be too inconvenient to set the flag when i first log in.A question of sorts.
The Looking For flags just not used? / A waste of time?
During a moment of random curiosity and watching the same person broadcast they were looking for a team 9 times in five or so minutes I looked at the search to see if he had a flag going. I got nothing. I checked all the flags including 'Do Not Accept Invites' and hit search. There were 11.
A full-ish search pointed out over 300. Not that it shows all of them but over 300 poping up on the search and just 11 using the flags?
Are they really that much of a lost cause?
just a thought -

etc, up to how many buttons you've got. Button4 is usually the button that goes "back" in browsers, button5 is "forward".
