<no nasty comments in this thread, please....>
What would YOUR hero do about the devastation in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast?
Glowing Skull - dark/rad defender
Glowing Skull would be pretty darned busy...even if he had back-up.
First things first...nasty, contaminated flood waters inundate the city. Perhaps his radioactive blasts can kill some of the microbes in the water. Ach, but there's so much water! The sick and injured need urgent help...best fly to the hospitals and see what he can do. But first....<heh-heh>, he'll need fuel to heal the injured.
Flying over an appliance store, he spots just what he needs: armed looters loading a boat with DVD players and television sets. Glowing Skull blasts them with a mild jolt of radioactivity, grabs a few of the nicer looted electronics and hovers-off...just slow enough for the looters to give chase...firing rifles and pistols as they weave through the city canals.
Once at the nearest hospital, Glowing Skull give them another mild blast...just to keep them angry, before he busts through a second-story window into the hospital.
Inside, he's greeted by a frightened orderly bradishing a gun....obviously to guard against looters.
"Hey, put that down! I'm here to help!"
But, Glowing Skull's ghoulish visage does everything to encourage panic.
-BLAM!- He missed.
"I don't have time for this!" Glowing Skull shouts, as shadows seep from his empty eye-sockets and surround the frightened orderly...keeping him held, but un-harmed.
The motorboat is close...Glowing Skull can hear that the thugs will be through the broken window any second as he rushes into the hospital hallway...a doctor is running towards the door.
"Glowing Skull, what happened? I heard a shot!"
"Oh, thank goodness someone recognizes me! You must be from Paragon. Quick! Lead me towards your sickest patients."
Glowing Skull and the doctor enter a stairwell just as one of the looters turns a corner. -BLAM!-
"Aiiiee! I'm hit!" Screams the doctor.
"Crud! Stay close!" Glowing Skull launches dark energy out of his hands. The dark energy bolts towards the thug and surrounds him...staying just long enough to sap some of his strength before launching back towards Glowing Skull and the doctor, bathing them in healing energy.
"Think you're OK to go-on?"
The doctor nods a hearty "yes"
They race up three flights of stairs, at least four thugs close behind, before exiting upon a dismal ward lit only by candle-light.
"Party time!" Glowing Skull mentally reaches out to the dark dimension, summoning one of its inhabitants. He then pours sticky dark energy onto the ground...so that when they run into this ward, the thugs will be ensnared!
No sooner is Glowing Skull finished with coating the floor with dark-force than four thugs bust through the stairway door, their reaction delayed by suddenly being stuck in the sticky dark energy.
Whoosh! The dark servant launches shadows at one of the thugs, completely freezing him in his tracks. Glowing Skull does the same to another...and then another...
A thug fires at Glowing Skull hitting him squarely in the shoulder. It hurts, but it doesn't matter. Soon all the thugs are frozen in the doorway....naught but immobile statues held in place by dark energy.
"Now for the real work." Glowing Skull weaves though the ward, sapping the strength of the frozen thugs, using that strength to heal the injured and sick.
A few radioactive blasts later, and the thugs are unconscious, bound and restrained by bandages, and back in their motorboat on top of which is posted a large sign..."N.O.P.D....looters aboard, please arrest"
"I suppose I just did some good, but I wish the other heroes of Paragon City were here to help...." -
Why, for the love of Arachnos, would someone buy a pre-order KNOWING that the full helmet details hadn't yet been revealed?!?
I've been waiting to preoder until all the helmet details have arrived. Now that they have, I think I'll pre-order from EB games. The other exclusive helmets? Meh. -
How fortunate for you that Paragon Time's inaccuracies are the worst of your problems!

Thanks for the reassurance, Statesman. I'm very happy with my Dark/Radiation defender! I KNOW that he's benefitting his team-mates a lot. If I had one criticism, though, it's that my teammates might not KNOW how much they're being benefitted untill he's off their team. Although I like the subtle nature of the dark miasma powerset, more obvious animations or indicators of buffage/debuffage would help others know that I'm not just sitting there.

You're a whiner. I've had difficult-to-get-to missions myself. It's part of the game. Not everything is meant to be handed to you on a silver platter. Yes, it IS possible to traverse the Hollows when everything is purples and reds...but it's difficult. Yes, you take the chance of dying and earning debt. Big deal, you work it off, you go on with your life.
How you managed to get another hero to level 39 w/o similar frustrations somewhere along the way is beyond me.
(as an aside, I strongly suspect that some timed missions were intended to be failed...to where the failure is part of the story-line) -
"Contemplating" - Hands together in front of chest, fingers spread, with finger-tips touching
"In my hand"- one arm raised, with an open, semi-cupped hand....Doctor Doom is depicted making this gesture frequently...it's sort-of a triumphant gesture
"Take over the world" - holding a globe while glaring at it hungrily.
"Ah, the power!"- transition from a crumpled stance to an open and imposing stance...as though the villain was just refreshed or infused with power...sort-of like the animation for using inspirations -

Ew. "Digital Entertainment News"? Haven't came across this site before, and the "interview" read more like a paid advertisement.
As for the date... was hoping for this weekend, guess they're still datamining the test server.

If this was a paid advertisement, Cryptic got skrewed! This article had way too many spelling, grammar and name mistakes! Statesman, ask for your money back!

So I guess my philosophical issue is, am I a MMORPG kinda person anymore? I no longer have desires to spend 14 hours of a day camping a zone for an item, I rather prefer to log on for two hours here and there, and then log off. The problem is that MMORPGs in general reward those that are most likely to cause greater profit. CoH isnt really interested in players like me; they prefer the people that are enamored by the game.

I've been playing off-and-on since three days after release. My highest level character is 25 and I'm impressed that I'm about to 'ding' 20th level with my second-highest character.
I feel sorry for those who raced to level 50. I feel sorry for those who would even consider "spending 14 hours of a day camping a zone for an item" a worthwhile expense of time. See, you MAY have "beaten everybody else", you may "be the highest level player", but all you got in the end is bragging rights.
Hours upon hours of obsessive grinding spent just so you can say "Nya-nya! I'm higher than everybody else!" Is it worth it? Are you somehow enjoying the game more than I am with my pathetic 20th level character? Considering that you are left with no more game content and few other heroes of your level, I doubt it.
The value of getting to level 50 depends on how you got there. It's just like life, in this regard... "The destination doesn't matter, it's what you do along the way that's REALLY important."
The ultimate goal of life is to die, so there's really no race to "get to the end". Consider that getting to level 50 and
"completing the game" is currently the equivalent of your character dying, because...while he may still exist...there's no-longer anything for him to do. With this in mind, I fail to see the logic in "racing to level 50".
Now, for completing a game...like Diablo or Warcraft...there was a satisfaction at having completed something...having "won". CoH does not strike me as that kind of game...it doesn't seem to be one in which you can say "Ah, I've arrived", so I'm more than happy taking my time, smelling the roses, and enjoying what my character level has to offer for an hour or so a night instead of obsessing over levelling so much that I lose sleep in a fruitless quest for powergaming. -
I, as well, think the double-charge is merely a rumor. I haven't seen anything to contradict it, but it just seems to make poor sense.
If they DO double-charge for CoV and CoH, I'll probably drop CoH because I've really wanted to play a villain anyway and $15 is too much to pay for the privelege of playing heroic alts. -
I'm curious...how many of you would think my alt strength/invulnerability tanker, Mistress Domina, goes too far?
I've made macros that cause her to verbally abuse villians when she uses her punching powers.
i.e.
"You've been bad"
"Pathetic worm!"
"Kneel!"
"Yes! Worship me..."
"Beg for mercy!"
p.s. She-Hulk (at least the first 10 issues) was really good and funny. Think of it kinda like Howard the Duck...a side-thing that one tends to ignore when considering comic book continuity.
