Hi everyone,
So, this is a general call for ideas / suggestions for Quality of Life improvements to the game. What sorts of things would make your life easier while playing CoH?
This thread is for smaller suggestions (eg the extra power trays added recently) and not entire new features.
So ... suggest away! -
Please see the very first rule, in the forum rules thread.

I've been notified of a couple of posts in this thread. While I'm not overly concerned, as it hasn't broken out into a flame war, I would like to remind everyone that we expect you to discuss the topic and not to get personal in your responses.

so any new update on this soon as i got less then a week before i run out of time again on here?

Are you currently on auto-renew billing? If so, your renewal will occur as scheduled. -
[ QUOTE ]
As for your original petition, every time to reply to a petition, it resets its position in the queue, so all your 5 replies did was bump it to the back of the queue 5 times.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's not true, actually. Sending in additional updates to a petition does not reset it in the queues. Opening additional petitions for the same issue, however, slows down the entire support process for everyone (including your own original petition). Tickets are generally reviewed for priority as they come in, which is why the duplicate petition will have been seen and closed so quickly. -

I believe 1280 x 800 is an ok res, but it isn't the 'norm' - 1440 x 900 is the normal resolution for a widescreen laptop, so you may find whilst windows will display it correctly, games may not.
[/ QUOTE ]
Depends on screen size. Both of my laptops have been 1280*800 native (15.4" screen) ... I believe the 1440*900 kicks is far more common for the 17" screens.
Never had any issues with games not liking 1280*800 (including CoH). -

Y'know, I understand the need to protect people from fraud, but I've always thought that reasoning a little suspect. I mean, if someone nicks your credit card, they're HARDLY going to log on to the PlayNC website, log on to an account who's name and password they don't know, and buy some stuff for a game they don't know how to play, or have access to, are they?
No, they're gonna be down Virgin Megastore buying PS3's and the like.
[/ QUOTE ]
The policy we follow is one developed over years of experience dealing with a wide variety of fraud sources. -

Seems I have a problem now.
Payment Validation
There was a problem processing your request:
# FRAUD SUSPICION
Any advice?
[/ QUOTE ]
Have you bought anything through PlayNC recently (last day or two)? There's a maximum number of purchases that can be made in a specified time period as an anti-fraud measure. This is mostly to protect customers who have their cards stolen.
If the message is still coming up in a few days, please send a ticket to our billing support team via the Ask a Question tab in the PlayNC support Knowledge Base. -

This gets even better. At the moment my payments are going through fine, and I have a solo card.
However, apparently a solo card classes as a maestro card when it gets debited.
So does this mean that once they all stop, both Maestro and Solo cardholders are going to be left without a sub?
As I said, all is well and a payment has just gone through, but it is worrying as I love this game and want to carry on.
[/ QUOTE ]
As far as I am aware, Solo and Maestro are not related. Maestro and Switch are (Switch is now a part of Maestro). Solo is still a valid payment option for subscriptions and I've not been told of any plans to remove it. -

The right mouse button behaviour you are describing is the default behaviour. To change it, go to Menu -> Options -> Keymapping tab. In the "View" list click one of the options next to "Rotate Camera" and then click your right mouse button to set this as the new behaviour.

I'll be working with him on planning the event, however with our trip last week and catching up on everything here this week I haven't had the chance to focus on it just yet.
It'll be a big part of what I do next week, though.

1) Send a petition. Possibly the least viable option, as there is no easy way to tell how long it will be before a GM will reply.
[/ QUOTE ]
However, by sending it you make sure that we're aware of it. Everything gets prioritised, and if a bug is shown to be affecting a significant number of players that bug will get a higher priority. -
[ QUOTE ]
According to IGN, apparently I13 will be more power proliferation and custom missions, and also that it will be the last issue this year, which is really disappointing if true as we have only had I12 this year.
[/ QUOTE ]
You've had Issue 12, plus the large Quality of Life update for Issue 11. All completed while the team has gone through some pretty major changes: moving offices; increasing team size and integrating the new team members; change of ownership and thus vastly changed priorities and goals for the IP.
Also, when looking at the goal of 3 issues every 12 months, that's actually more accurately a goal of one issue every 4 months and not a promise that a calendar year will receive 3 issues. Issue 12 was released in late May, which was a bit later than the goals however entirely understandable given the changes the team went through while developing Issue 12 (and that they also released the big QoL Issue 11 patch).
As BAB has recently posted (and been quoted here on these forums in another thread), the NCNC team is now aiming to develop features, systems and content for new issues that they previously never considered possible due to the small team size and other constraints. A consequence of that may mean that the 3 issues every year goal slows down a little, however you'll be getting better issues overall. -

pictures the Moderators linked hands dancing around the office like mischievous pixies chanting;
"Dance Forumites! - Speculate wildly and Dance for our amusement! - you become more our slaves with every teaser"

That sounds more like Sith thing...

Couple that with GR's clue about "offline", and I think there's a good chance that it'll be pretty well full featured AND runs offline from the main game.

I'd avoid jumping to conclusions... especially ones taking a cryptic hint into a context it was never intended for.

K is the headbanger

Amboss is the one shouting about Bureaucrats. -
FFM and others asking about time cards or one-off payments of subs time: these are definitely options under discussion (amongst a range of options we're always looking at), however implementation isn't as simple as just making them available on the site and there's no guarantees that we'll be able to offer them.
I can only reiterate that I'll let you all know any new information as I get it. -

We've passed along to the relevant teams internally the current low stock amounts available online through Amazon, Game and Play.
[/ QUOTE ]
Speaking of, they've let us know that the current low stock at the online retailers I mentioned is due to a shipping delay and that new stock should be arriving soon. -
The Mirror's contest had over 9400 entries. The winner is from London and I'm currently checking to find out if we're allowed to reveal his name.
-
So, the Leipzig Games Convention is approaching. We'll be attending with a booth and the entire community team from NCsoft Europe will be there.
This is probably mostly of interest to our German community, however I wanted to share some teaser videos we've been producing. We're devoting an entire day while at the show to community activities (and having a big party on one evening as well!).
There's eleven videos:
Episode 1: The Weight of Water
Episode 2: Damn those Bureaucrats
Episode 3: Languages
Episode 4: Setting the Stage
Episode 5: Looking forward to...
Episode 6: Costume Competition Auditions
Episode 7: Musical Tastes Vary
Episode 8: The Quest System Explained
Episode 9: One More Thing
Episode 10: Subliminal Messaging
Episode 11: Boot Camp
For those able to attend the show, we won't have much specifically for City of Heroes (beyond a few goodies), however Aion will be prominent. -

They sell them at Play.com too, again the stock fluctuates but at least you dont have to pay postage.

Also note that Amazon does carry Game Time Cards. They currently have a small number available, although I recognise that Amazon stock levels can fluctuate a lot.

Information update:
I can now confirm that - most likely at the end of this month - we will allow unverified UK PayPal accounts for purchasing subscriptions. For those of you willing to use PayPal, this means that you will no longer need to have the account verified. You will be able to provide funds to your PayPal account with your Maestro card and then pay for subscription time with the PayPal account.
This is the first of several changes under discussion.
