Looking carefully, Jessica examined the latest crystal she enchanted with a concealment spell. Concealment was relatively easy, but binding it with an item so that yet an other item can be concealed for an extended period of time that wasnt easy. Luckily, this latest creation seemed up to spec. The spell was stable in its cradle, locked carefully by the on/off command and the crystal should be able to keep it stable for at least two weeks.
Now the hard part was finished, time to move onto the next issue. How to let others trigger the on/off command, but not only that, in a way that even some one like Sebastian himself could use it! Going over the usual means, a talisman reacting to spoken words, some sort of key she remembered Ellies grinned suggestion make it into a big shiny button.
Locking her work desk with a shield, Jess sped out the door, turned the stairs, going up instead of down. On the roof she saw the determination of the Clockwork at its finest: despite being unsuccessful for years to scavenge this buildings ventilation systems, they still tried. A few quick hand motions deposited the disabled Clockwork in a nearby dumpster, waiting for retrieval by Lyns Free Clockwork.
On the train from Kings Row to Steel Canyon, the Grav Mistress posed for some pictures and signed a number of autographs. Relieved when the train arrived at the station, Grav excused herself and took to the sky as soon as she was clear of the crowd. Next stop: Cookes Electronics.
Good afternoon, how can I help you? said a clerk with a warm smile. His wife had been saved by the Grav Mistress once. Hopefully hed be able to return the favour some how and help this hero with perhaps the latest in reactive armor, or stun grenades or, or,
Hello, I need a few compact remote controls, preferably with only two or three buttons Grav said in a pleasant but serious way.
The clerk blinked. Was this some joke? The Grav Mistress asking for a simple, by the sounds of it very simple, remote? Recovering quickly thanks to years experience, the clerk responded certainly, Miss, we have a wide range of remotes you can choose from, right this way and lead the way to a display stand with various remote detonators and car garage remotes, starting to explain the use of various models, the advantages and disadvantages compared to other models.
Sorry to interrupt, but all Im interested in is the size and shape of the remote, and the buttons, two or three, please Grav interjected.
Before long, Grav had picked a model she deemed useful, a three button model that would fit comfortably in a hand, but not too small to be lost. Ill need about fifty of these and fifty of those small compasses in that display case, can you put them on the tab of the Cirque de la Lune?
Let me just check our inventory, Miss the clerk said as he went to do just that. He had heard of the Cirque de la Lune, and how they repay their tabs. He checked the computer, and it listed there were enough in stock.
We have enough in stock, let me just get them for you
The clerk disappeared into the back, and came out a moment later with two boxes and a slightly nervous smile on his face.
The remotes packed per sixty, the compasses fifty. They are on the house, but if you specifically want only fifty he said. He had no desire of being scared witless by some scary clown or a voice from the shadows over $60. Hed explain it to his boss as a community service, or pay it himself.
No thats fine, and most generous of you, thank you Grav replied with a radiant smile as she took the box.
You are most welcome, Miss, good day to you. The clerk rounded up, feeling heartened by Gravs smile.
Good day Grav returned with a smile as she turned and walked out the store.
The clerk hardly noticed the disappearance of the boxes into the much smaller pouch that hung on Grav belt, so caught up was he in the consequences of his actions, while staring almost hypnotically at the lightly swaying hips barely visible beneath Gravs cape as she walked out the store.
Back home, Jess examined once again the crystal she had left earlier. Pleased it still held its integrity, Jess made room for the remotes. Taking one out the box, she examined it. With a sigh of frustration she put it down and began rummaging through her desk, and later the rest of the house until she finally found the set of screwdrivers and started to dismantle the remote control. Stripping the insides, she began to replace them with more normal components: magic.
Chuckling lightly she started on her third project of techno-magic: What would Sebastian say if he saw me now? -

Miss Vain stepped off the Yellow Line at the Kings Row terminal, pleased with the looks of admiration from the men and women, even more pleased with the looks of jealousy from the women.
Miss Vain took to the sky, staying low and flying at comfortable hair speeds straight ahead, she paused for a moment at the mirrored windows of an apartment on the top floor opposite the terminal. Not wondering in the slightest why these windows were mirrored, she was just grateful for the opportunity to make sure her lush golden hair was still in place.
Giving herself a wink she continued her journey, carefully avoiding the Clockwork on the roof. Merely concerned with the effect of their static charge on her hair, oblivious that the Clockwork seemed futile in their attempt at scavenging. Equally oblivious to what was going on behind the mirrored windows.
Inside the apartment the turquoise skinned, straw blond woman dressed in a plain robe was equally oblivious to the woman pausing outside her window. Too focused was she on the book in front of her, making notes on a piece of parchment with a quill. A casual observer might have thought it a scene from a Harry Potter novel, but here sat none other than the Grav Mistress, hard at work trying to help save not only the city this time, but the universe.
Looking over her notes, she pushed the book aside, causing another to fall off the desk onto a stack of books nearly as high. Taking a small green crystal that she intended to enchant, she looked over her notes one last time and began to weave her magic into the crystal.
Upon completing her enchanting, she examined the crystal. It looked good, the spell contained waiting for a trigger. Pleased with the results she reached for the mug nearly buried behind a stack of books. Sighing at the empty mug, she set the crystal down and went into the kitchen to set a fresh pot of tea.
Letting her thoughts wander for a bit as she waited for the water to boil, she felt the sensation of mint tea followed a content sigh that were not her own. Smiling as she poured her own tea, she thought: Enjoy your tea, love.
As Jessica emerged from the kitchen with her tea she turned to her desk to continue work on the trigger. But the sight that greeted her made her sigh in a way that said I should have know. Sitting down in her chair, she looked at the floating books, and the amazing clutter that had amassed itself in the desk drawers, at least now she knew where that pendulum had disappeared to last year.
Taking the opportunity to inspect the drawer contents through the invisible desk, she picked up the equally invisible crystal. She paid the emerging desk no mind as she examined the crystal, trying to find out what went wrong. Quill again firmly in hand, she made more notes, and continued her research. -
Hmmm, I'll mark this down, always wanted to join a Hami raid, though never entered one.

OOC : I can design bases well, I think

Hmmmm
who are these "associates connected with the creature" -
or even just door openings...
Like walls you could place at either end of the doorway, or in the middle, or something. Giving you the choice of the size of the door opening: from (slightly larger?) office doors to near that of a hangar (ie: just a small doorframe)
Only problem I see with this is the placing, it'd have to be from floor to ceiling, no matter how high or low they'd be -

Oh one last thing. your salvage you carry is catagorised by type, there are specific types required to make specific recipes. Yet the savlage storage unit cant be sorted by type, so you dont know what to pick unless you know exactly the right raw materials, and when there are so many types its a bit of a trauma.

There are 2 types of racks, a tech and a magic one... I've put 2 of each in my SG's base and hope to god people will use it to sift it into tech and magic ... -

Wow!
Welcome to my desktop cycle! (and I'm very picky about my desktop)

Would give a good meet up point as well
Oh, and I'm planning on being there tonight as well, but I'm changing "Mistress Gravity" for "Roselyn Thorn" -
Congratulations to FFM for dinging the big 50 with Miss Ellie!
As with so many RPers out there, it took nearly a year, but she's finally there
Well done mate! -

All better now?

Actually... (a large) part of the reason was to get to RP with Aisla. We teamed a good few times, but rarely got to RP.
(also... why did I get the secondary lead)

Adding Mistress Gravity to the list of Dominators
-
I think most RP SGs have some theme, so all those joined have something in common to get things started.
If you could give an idea what type of character you were planing on, wether he/she's a hero or a villain, age, disposition, powers, that sort of things. Then it'll be easier for people to say
"oh, I reccomend SG such and so" -
Information regarding this plot, that's available through inquiries in the right place.
By no means is this all that's known, just what is easily accesible
Also, I'm sorry for not bothering about putting this IC...
---------------
The body brought out by Grav Mistress has been identified.
It is the body of a peacebringer named "Starbrite".
Some digging may reveal that Starbrite is a PB with a low combat rating, working for the Kheldian High Command/Council of Elders on their mothership as teleportation technitian. (for further digging, PM me, with how and such)
Autopsy revealed that Starbrite had been subject to long beatings, and had been dead for a few hours by the time the shop had been set on fire.
An eye witness claims that a Hellion threw the bomb inside.
The bomb itself... more powerful than Hellions normally use, but still nothing to unusual... dispite Crey chemicals and a Council detonator used for the construction.
Police reports will state that there was enough residual Quantum energy to suggest either killing or capture of a kheldian, depending on how long the radiation had been there. Exact time not available.
If I missed anything, please let me know -

I'm afraid the answer is "yes," character akin to Mr. Blonde from Reservoir Dogs would be allowed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not having seen Reservoir Dogs (I know, blasphemy, cool down back there) I have no idea what character Mr. Blonde is...
Know what? sign me up under the reserves anyway, and I'll ask OOC before we start.
It's hard to find enjoyable (for me) RP in CoV, so I'll give it a go.
( too bad I can't bring my Stalker, any such characters that exhibit indiscriminate bloodlust would find themselves with a sword aimed at their necks before long)
-
Before I sign up...
will this team be open to ... 'gritty' characters?
ones that find pleasure in doing or like to comment on 'gritty' things done (to them) in the past?
If the answer is "yes" then I'll just save myself and don't sign up
If the answer is "no" then I'll give it a go with my Grav/Nrg dominator (lvl5, checking for badges later to see if it's safe to reroll)
Oh, and are there any thoughts to a super group?
The Concord is a loose SG filled with PRer's character, who are not necesarily for RP, but just so to help this 'underdog' group get a functional base.
edit: I usually don't have many time constrictions. But the occasional meeting with my RP SG which usually start at 8, and GG RP (or more correct, my main's RP) from 9ish...
Except on Friday -
Given name: Jessica van Steenbergen
Hero:The Grav Mistress
Gender: Female
Date of Birth: 22-11-1980
Powers: Magical and Kheldian
Description of Powers: Mage with an afinity for gravity manipulations, forcefields, minor illusions and fire, also considered an expert on souls. Mostly self taught, though some things came natural.
Personality: Silent, thoughtful and somewhat maternal.
Physical Description: Attractive young woman with tourquaze skin and strawblond hair (originally 'pink' skin, red/orange hair), usually wearing glasses, about 6foot tall
History/Backstory:
Jessica had a 'normal' life as a child with her parents and brother in The Netherlands. Though being obese and somewhat shy turned her into a bookworm that was occasionally picked on.
Completely out of character for her, she applied for a student foreign exchange program and went to Paragon City at the age of 16.
In her first year she 'stumbled' across a book that held her initiation into magic: her family tree book.
She taught herself magic, and as she learned, she started to notice her body gradually changing. Her build became athlethic, her skin and hair colours changed. Using illusions, she quickly learned how to cover these up and continue a 'normal' highschool life.
Then the Rikti invasion happened. And she was but one of thousends that were evacuated from Paragon City. She more or less volunteered to help out as a research assistant for MAGI, though never worked on anything vital during that time.
After the war, she returned to her small appartment in Kings Row that had been hers for only a few months before the war. To afford the rent she now took a fulltime job at Hotel Geneva, hiding once again her true colours.
One evening she was walking home she was beset by 3 Circle of Thorns minions. For the first time, she had to use her magic for defence, instead of making her life easier.
She managed to keep them at bay long enough for a hero to come by and take them out, though one did manage to stab Jess in the chest with it's Thorn.
Waking up in a hospital bed, she vividly remembered the battle of will she had with the Thornwielder: she won.
Being questioned by a MAGI investigator, she told him everything about the attack, and the battle afterwards.
After carefully considering the investigator's words for weeks, she decided to follow his advice and returned to MAGI for hero training.
Although a loner by nature, she performed well in teams, protecting them with shields and immobalizing their opponants. Yet still, she returned home after each adventure with the feeling something was missing.
One night she stumbled across a gathering of Heroes and civilians just chatting under the Galaxy Girl statue.
This night changed her life, as it was the first of many nights that she went there. She started making friends.
And now?
She is herralded as one of the city's greatest heroes, has a comic and a cartoon based on her, her carreer at Geneva marked by promotions. She also found the love of her life under that very statue, and is engaged to be married next Halloween. -
Interesting points, about the Carnies...
My main is a mage as alvl50 Controler and a 30+ peacebringer (yes, I suppose it might be lame, but I like it)
She opperated under the believe that killing a Carnie (female) before the mask sets the soul free, where as arresting or destroying the mask led to the consumption of said soul. IE: it was the humane thing to do.
Now, after the incident the OP mentioned, that character's ... remorse, or resolution made my character rethink the situation (one would hope so, them being engaged to be married).
In order to safe her friend, she did a lot of research into souls. In particular the relocation of them. Who know more about it than most? The Circle of Thorns.
So, she raided their libraries and conviscated books and soulgems.
After some researching, she started to experiment on some Thornies.
She ... um... released 136 souls that were Thornies to the great beyond, so they'll never possess an other body again, and managed to return 11 souls she freed from soulgems to their original bodies.
Now, in retrospect, she realised she was acting like judge, jury and excecutioner and does regret the things she did. But at the same time, she's glad for the knowlidge she got from it. It allowed her to free a good friend of hers from slavery, brought her more or less back to life, and it also proved usefull with problems not pertaining to her now fiancé.
She has since passed on those research notes and such to Azuria of MAGI, with the idea that seperating the soul from a Carnie temporarily would leave nothing to be consumed by the mask should it be broken.
Now, her total count is 281 (she does keep count, to remind herself of various aspects/morals) (+3 she doesn't remember and I'm not sure they would even count as hers)
281-136=145 that have died by her hands in combat. But in that she counts the Carnies as well, both male(zombies) and female (at 127), 9 Nemesis that she killed in a rage to protect her two (then faceplanted) best friends (one was the girlfriend at the time, the other is her fiancé now).
This leaves 9 that were killed in battle that were more or less unavoidable due to the actions of the villain.
But always has she tried her best to arrest instead of kill (except for those that are dead already).
She's always managed to protect bystanders (even let some get away to protect an obsessed fan a few times).
My other characters...
My tanker is a bit oldfashioned and will go out of his way to protect any female in his facinity.
Also, he'll jump in any group and keep fighting till either his team can retreat or either the enemy or he is defeated.
My empath defender is slightly more ... cautious.
She'll stick with the team, but if 2/3rd or so are face down in the dirt, she'll retreat and teleport her team away for awakening.
She's a bit of a mix between an adult, a child and a cat. Crazy as hell too.
Her radiation powers are now undercontrole, but still she fears that she'll hurt someone if she feels a buildup.
She'll do her best to protect any non villain (or rather anyone she doesn't find annoying).
Then there's a Dark Clown...
Devoutly loyal to the Cirque de la Lune.
If it's not Cirque, it'll look lovely on fire.
But, the Cirque protect the city, so she does so too... just doesn't care about collatoral damage.
