Hi all,

Reading up on some posts, I’ve come across some requests for drawings done of characters. I myself have requested some too, also I’ve had sketches done by professional comic artists who came to the conventions and participated in “draw the world together”.

And as I’ve paid to have those done, I was thinking it would be nice to rewards some of the great artists here for a ‘commission’.

So I got chatting with my friend FFM. From there things got rolling…
“why not make it a competition?”

And so here we pose a challenge to all you artists out there willing to step up and face it.

Draw a picture of our two main characters.

The rules:

FFM and myself will be the judges and we will choose 3 winners. To make it easier on the contestants, here are some points we’ll be looking at:
* Interaction – These are RP characters and are a recently a married couple. If the interaction is wrong, you loose points, if it’s ‘just right’ you will gain points
* Finish – We’re looking for something that belongs as a wallpaper. Inking and colouring scores points
* Resolution/Size – As said, a wallpaper is a likely use for this, so a 640x480 scan will not really stand much chance unless bigger can be provided. (ie: OK as an entry posted here, not as the finished product). As a guide, I use 1280x960 and FFM uses 1400x900 (Widescreen).

What with Valentine's Day coming up, using that as a theme might win you points also.

Our two characters are:


Eloise Mary “Miss Ellie” Stoneberg (was Eloise Mary Smith)
Player: FloatingFatMan
Height: 5ft5in / 1.65m

Being part human, part cat and part Kheldian, Ellie is somewhat cheeky, and often irreverent. Though not quite as inquisitive as her partner, she's very loving and fiercely loyal to her friends and loved ones, having risked her life on more than one occasion for them.
She carries herself with obvious confidence in her abilities as a level 50 Peacebringer and specialises in shape shifting.

Once publicly known as the hero Tiger White, she retired several months ago but has recently restarted, using the new secret identity of KittyHawk.

Jessica “Grav Mistress” Stoneberg (was Jessica van Steenbergen)
Player: ShadowGhost
Height: 6ft / 1.83m

Jessica is the 'serious' one of the two. She's inquisitive, her curiosity is legendary, she's rather maternal and caring, even overprotective over friends.
She carries herself with an outward confidence, some might even call it arrogance. And has fairly good control over her outward emotions. She likes to smile in company of friends.
As for her powers... She's a mage and a Peacebringer, though semi retired.
She specializes in Gravity control, force fields, fire control, conjuration of (temporary) objects, illusions and soul magics. (Grav/FF/Fire controller, Peacebringer, Fire/kin controller + RP abilities)

Her greenish skin and blond hair are the result of her magic changing her. She used to be Caucasian with red hair, because she's a mage and sometimes has to hide her appearance, she brings them back with an illusion.

My list varies in order of preference, but at the moment...


1: IRC
2: Pocket D, hero side bar (would be Chalet now it's open again, but there's no one there)
3: SG bases (I make nice bases )
4: Galaxy Girl
5: Random encountered location (mission, outside PD, by a trainer or train... ie: random)


It used to be that SG bases and Galaxy Girl were competing for the number one spot, but that time has passed... though might come again...

I find that I prefer the semi quiet places, where the local text is going by at reasonable speeds (for me)

Last night...


Rose was at Pocket D, hovering near War Witch, watching, listening... why? Who knows?

Something happened that Rose thought would be a good time to step up, the less said about that the better.

Some 'angelic' figure seemed to find it odd that Rose was conserned for the welbeing of Sarah, a hero, while she could sense darkness in Rose... There was also someone that seemed to think Rose's green skin was unhealthy

She went to check on Sarah, who was sitting with Drake (her personal stalker ) and they talked for a bit about some assasin being after Sarah. Drake left for the Chalet, asking if Sarah'd meet him there.
Rose and Sarah talked a while longer before Sarah went to see what he wanted.

After Rose went over some things and got up to get a drink, a familiar voice asked her a question from the shadows... a voice she didn't expect to hear, and for a fraction thought she didn't... but there stood Mary. Who was missing for a while. They chatted a bit about that and such.

When Sarah came back, she revealed that Drake said that he loves her... Oh well.
Rose introduced Mary and Sarah to each other and they chatted a little bit before Drake came back and was soon lightly ridiculed (Drake meaning male duck, or baby dragon) and a 'friend' coming over slapping him silly and calling him 'fatty'... there was also a walking plant-man and they chatted a while. Where Rose and Mary lightly teased each other.

When Rose decided to leave, Mary decided to leave too... not that at ease with heroes despite the neutral grounds

I think it will be RPers that have the smal crammed-to-the-roof bases... I have a fully functional base, which had loads of space before I crammed it with RP decorations

Very VERY nice nice sketches.
The amount of detail... it's a lot more then lines that make a sketch, some how, I don't know how... you manage to make it work!

Last night...

Roselin showed up and greeted Sarah, who seemed busy so she left her to it. She greeted the woman with the funny but deep name. She met Drake and briefly discussed hero rules, like cheesy names, flashy costumes, cliché secret identities and such.

But then she heard Sarah asking to talk to Nick about some advice, and so ordered a drink and followed. She did say that she'd leave if asked, but Sarah was welcoming the extra help. More problems with her new (and first) boyfriend.

Nick left after a bit of advice that he said in advance might not be best for Sarah, muttering he should fix his own relationship before giving others advice.
Rose commented that if you have problems, you can at least advice what not to do, or some such.
A little more talk before Sarah asked about Rose, who admitted being worried about a ... friend, she had not heard from.
Sarah had to beat dad's curfew and they hugged goodbye

No need to impose real costs for them, when they don't do much and would means less "bare bones" bases all round.

I agree whole heartedly with this... I have a functional base that I'm rather proud of (being supported by mostly 3 players) with 4 teleporters, medi room and storeage and such... I think it's all in all decorated with well over 50k to make it more functional: Kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, lounge, library, office and even a garden.

That's a lot, for windowdressing...

iirc there's a tactical aspect to having a lot of rooms, or rather doorways.
That was thought to be the original reasoning behind their costs (along with being a room needing to cost something)

So, not entirely useless from a base raiding perspective

From a decorative perspective, it allows for a bigger room without having to pay 400k or something for a big version of a functional room.


Also, decorative items have a tactical function in base raiding: cover
Alright, not everything, but still.

I've seen a base where it was turned in to a veritable maze, and even managed to obscure an entire doorway... though I doubt that would have any effect in a raid, the starting points being at random in the doorways iirc...

I have a lvl 16 plant/thorns dominator.

I've already found that Seeds of confusion is a 'must have power' (and is rather cool) while the spores is rather... situational to say the least.

I also have Spirit Tree, but... I'm finding it rather naff... the healing is minimal, recharge long, static AoE...


So this lead me to ask for help, but I can't find much (except the spores/seeds discussion a bit back)


I'm a player that often solos and sometimes teams when the mood/invite strikes me.

Rose arrived and was pleased to see Sarah, and alone it seemed, that just won't do!
Rose gave Sarah a little something because she thought it'd look nice on her: a silver necklace with 5 tear shaped diamonds, which probably cost a pretty penny (or considering she's from the Rogues, perhaps not ). Rose was rather annoyed by a Tygerboy because he just assumed she was from the Isles (he claimed it's the salty air, which is plausible but as it's not the first time it annoyed her).
But she was pleased that Sarah didn't think she was evil looking and moved a bit as she found herself positioned between the tyger and some nut hurling testosterone at each other.

Rose noticed that Sarah seemed a little down so she dragged her off for a chat... or rather just asked if she wanted to talk. Sarah asked if she wanted to listen and of course she did, so they went upstairs away from he hoard of ninja's and the black vapour spewing leader.
There they talked about relationships and kissing and such.

Sadly, Roselin had to go, but before she did... she wished Sarah a happy birthday and....
Then she left

Last night...


Roselin was at Pocket D. She bought Sarah a drink and invited her to have a seat as she said she had a long day. They chatted a bit about this and that until Shydow Fish asked if he could have a word.

When they came back, Shydow had a big announcement: they were now an item and would like people to say 'well done'.
Rose thought this was... odd. In the first place because Sarah got who she wanted and that Shydow went for second best after hearing his first choice was not an option.
Roselin congratulated Sarah none the less!

After a bit, she asked to speak to her in private(ish) and had a heart to heart about her relationship. Words of warning and advice and congratulations were given. (along with an offer to be a kissing guinny pig )

When they got back to the crowd, they chatted a bit more before being approached by Marii, the gynoid. and they chatted for a while. Before long Sarah had to leave.. school night and all.

Rose and Marii talked about male testosterone, procreation, immortality and nature.
They were briefly 'acosted' by some kid before Rose had to leave

Word of warning, during times that the Winter event is live (ie, the following week) 'GG' is mostly relocated to the Chalet in Pocket D

Last night...

Roselin was back in PD, chatted with Nick and a 'new' hero called Sarah.
Both of them were slightly flirting with her, more sleasing over her... until she left... There was also a ghost there, a ghost of a 16yr old girl or something with dark tendancies she was trying to break? Oh well... it seemed that all three prefered women, and it was found out that Nick would pay to see Ghost date Roselin before sucking the life out of her...

Roselin went downstairs again and met Sarah again chatting with a friend with relationship problems...
Roselin gave him some advice how to win the woman over. She's becoming an agony aunt? Maybe she could do a column in the Comet?

After Shydow left, Roselin and Sarah chatted a bit before Sarah left.

And despite Roselin hanging around for a bit, nothing really happened otherwise, except for some demon-girl ignoring her.

Last night at Pocket D, hero side bar.

Roselin Thorne sat at the bar with a drink and listened to a fairly obnoctious 'reporter' 'interviewing' some female heroes, one of which seemed to be only 12, and the issue was whether or not underaged children should be allowed to hero.. it was fairly amusing, both to her and Nick "Nightchild" who sat down in front of her.

The two chatted a bit and he was fairly free with naming his 'misdeeds', but in a casual "I don't care" way rather then "I'm a bad person, fear me" boasting way.
Most of the conversation he tried to figure out Roselin, while Roselin kept obscuring who she was, what she did and whether or not she had any super powers.
In the end he got that she was a mutant (fairly obvious with green skin and a tail) might be super powered (she 'insists' she gets by with bluffing) (hmm, mind control?) and worked in a jewellery store probably somewhere in the Rogue islands. And even her first name, which she gave just before he left.

In the meantime the reporter's prey had left and he found himself in conversation with a 'fan'.

With the arrival of a new visiter at the opposite end, Roselin moved to sit down near her, but not too close and ended up right behind the reporter.
While Roselin was chatting with Amber, she lifted the reporter's wallet with her tail. Amber noticed and made a mention to her, but left it as she wasn't inclined to admit to anything and Amber was there more to relax.

The reporter and his fan left to talk at an empty bar.

The chat was quite amicable and there was some sisterly bonding, even as Roselin checked the contents of the purse... and probably pleasantly surprised Amber by leaving it at the bartender with full contents, appearantly she didn't need or want the cash or credit card in there.

Some time later the reported came back and had a bit of trouble getting his wallet back from the bartender, who was dancing with joy And it quite amuzed Roselin!

Roselin gave Amber some advice how to deal with her boyfriend's weirdness, chatted with and explained the club to a woman who kept talking about Mr. Gale, appearantly her late husband, of which Roselin initially thought was now undead...
For some one who talked a lot about her late husband she seemed rather interested in the younger male population... except for the real undead pirate Roselin and Ms Gale were also chatting with.

Roselin and the pirate chatted a bit before she left, including about whether she might be a hero or not...
It seems she likes to obscure things about herself and confuse her conversation partner (who needs seeds of confusion? )

I find that I'm a discriminate reader...

I do not read about characters I hardly know...

unless the brief scanning of the post makes me think it'll be interesting.

So, for my own IC story, I added in the beginning the characters who it involves.

It does make it easier to do little things, little stories not sparked by a recap or what ever...
It could be used to 'revive' an old character, start a plot, or what ever!

Last night...

The French Maid went to Pocket D, the chalet.

I wasn't really in a big interaction mood, so she didn't reach out much. Though she did mutter that "it's been the longest yet..."

Eventually she went down the ski slope and entered the bar there for a nice cup of cocoa.
There she met Mileena Lim, and had a short talk before Samantha Jennings joined them and started talking with Mileena, being friends that hadn't seen each other for some time.

As Jolanda (Frenchy) turned to admire the scenery and let them have their chat, they turned to involve her.
So they talked about this and that, Jolanda's job as a cleaning lady...

After a bit, Sam left which left Jolanda and Mileena to chat, and be chat up by the 'tall dark and mysterious' gentleman that dropped by.

Mileena got a little more quiet as time passed and it became a bit of a flirting match between Jolanda and Fredrik. It was of course very descreet and light, a smile here, a remark there...

Fredrik was beset by two he had a silent conversation with, a woman and an other 'tall dark and mysterious' man (same SG), Frenchy pouted a bit as he had to go and left Fredrik to them.

In the end, he asked if he could add them to the friends/global list.. (awwww bless the RP newbies) To which Frenchy asked if he was asking them for their number (a /tell was send: "Welcome to the world of RP, where game mechanics are adjusted or ignored " )
The poor guy blushed as he said yes... At least he got one number

Then it was time to go...

I must admit, it was fun that he used the /e command to show thought bubbles, and use them for his thoughts, and not being able to respond to them
